  1. Went out today from 7:30 to about 11. Caught a few, nothing huge. All on a ribbontail worm. Just wondering if anyone else has any reports! There were a few other people out there, but didn't see them catch anything.
  2. Sounds like a great day! I really wanna get out and fish the James sometime
  3. Yeah and he's probably fished there 100x without conflict.
  4. Yeah, there's been a couple times where the Whelan Security guys have even parked next to me when I was breaking my boat down and they haven't said anything. But it may just be those guys weren't paying attention or whatever. Either way it clearly isn't a huge issue, but I'll still be careful. Thanks for the information
  5. This is a weird question but hopefully someone knows the answer. I've heard belly boats aren't allowed on L Springfield, but I'm wondering about inflatable pontoon style boats. That's what I've been fishing out of at L Springfield for the last month and I haven't had any problems with the security guys. I'm just wondering if any of you know the answer forsure. I'm honestly going to fish there regardless but I'm just curious.
  6. Ahh I see. Well maybe I'll see you out there one day!
  7. Same here, every fish I've caught has had a belly. And I put in at the park and fish up and down what I think is the river channel and in the grass. Yesterday I put in at the point and paddled across the lake to fish the big bluff. Basically anywhere I can put in I try to hit. I'm considering putting in at the Southwood access too. How about yourself?
  8. Yeah I've had the most success with a t-rig worm in watermelon seed color. And also a brown tube. I've thrown a 3 in Swimbait to no avail the last two trips. I feel like this lake is difficult to fish but there are big fish to be caught. My next trip I'm gonna try a Ned rig, and senko . Maybe throw a spinnerbait early in the morning around the grass.
  9. Hey all, so for the last couple of weeks I've been fishing Lake Springfield. I haven't been skunked but other than one monster bass I haven't had great success. i'd like to learn this lake and I'm wondering if you guys have any tips, especially for this time of year. I've personally had the most success fishing the shallow weeds and stick ups. I'm on a boat so that helps a tonne. Anyways are there any patterns you guys know of? Or is it just a difficult lake to fish in general? Any help would be appreciated.
  10. What were you using? Went there last spring and only managed one. Seems like a neat lake though
  11. Nice fish! I work at BPS and the Ascend Kayaks are very nice. Very popular
  12. That doesn't make any sense. Well I hope you atleast caught some fish
  13. Dang that sucks..I wonder why. I don't like breaking the rules but I wonder if I went out really early and gave it a shot. Just looks too tempting ha.
  14. Sounds like an awesome day!
  15. Were you fishing the small pond across the road or the main lake? I descovered the small pond/lake last week and I'd like to fish it from my kickboat.
  16. Talked to a friend of mine, who said he talked to a guy that took a boat out on McDaniel. The fellow said that when the MDC talked to him about it, they said they didn't care as long as the boat didn't have a motor. His did, so they kicked him off. Anyways I think the guy was just bs'ing, but I'm curious if any of you guys have heard the same thing! Interesting story nonetheless.
  17. Ah I see thank you! I'd like to get out there once. Looks like fun!
  18. Nice fish!! And I have to ask, where is that?
  19. Yeah, I've watched a lot of his vids. It's pretty impressive
  20. haha actually don't go there ?
  21. Got out for a few hours this morning. Caught my personal best for this year. Also caught the biggest crappie of my life. This was only my second trip to Lake Springfield but I'll definetely be back!
  22. Don't want to hijack, but i might be heading to fellows tomorrow. Is it worth giving it a shot or would lake Springfield be better?
  23. I put in around 8, and fished up the river a ways. I caught one nine inch smallie, lost a bigger one and caught a green sunfish. The lake was a lot shallower than i thought it would be. I thought I would have more luck than I did, but I'll prolly go back. I didn't get any pictures, but the scenery was great!
