  1. The closest place to Springfield for Alligator Gar would be the lower White River in Arkansas. http://www.bassonhook.com/newsinfo/article%20688.html What we have around here is the Long-Nose and Short-nose varieties.
  2. I wonder how the water clarity is in the main lake, say around the point 5 area?
  3. That's the only bad thing when you catch a nice one in the dark - pretty hard to get a good picture. Nice Bass!
  4. That was pretty good - hopefully they'll get more content as time goes on.
  5. Sounds like B.S. to me, too. Kind of reminds me of this old urban myth: Snake in coat
  6. I was going to go over there to get a break for a few hours - but when I drove over the mill bridge coming home from errands in Springfield and saw the color and level of the water I decided to stay home. Might be clearing up in a day or two.
  7. All the fish of one species won't do the exact same thing - I've caught them up to Hootentown or so most years - even after the "run" is over a while. Flood years? Yeah, somewhere near Springfield's southwest city limits.
  8. I was using a compact custom 3/8-ounce tandem Oklahoma/Willow. It's basically white, the OK blade is gold and the willow silver. Just fishing around shallow cover. That's about as specific as I can get without the internet police crying "foul".
  9. Upper Finley would be one place where you have shot at that 10-incher. I seem to catch the biggest ones on tiny cranks (like the Strike King Mini-3 or Norman Crappie Crank) or 1/8-ounce finesse jigs.
  10. I was doing good with a white spinnerbait - but that was before all the rain, might be even better now.
  11. It's a long walk back to Illinois... But seriously - good for Bill, I bet the lake was rocking and rolling from the wind - not a good day to run dry. Glad everything turned out O.K. - I sure don't want to have to see that "fisherman drowns" story again.
  12. That model # could be a distributor special for DU, or even just mis-stamped. It happens. Otherwise it looks like every other LCP I've seen. They can be a little finicky about what ammo shoots well, but that's true of most little auto's. I bookmarked this last year while looking for something else, you may like it - one guy's totally unscientific but interesting testing of a bunch of .380 ammo. http://www.citybillys.com/380%20data
  13. Day late and a (couple) dollars short. Story of my life.
  14. Sure it is, if you like wading in water about 60-degrees. That's like wading in Taney on a warm day, at best. If you aren't following my "drift" - I'm saying no.
  15. FLW Beyond the Basic: Greg Bohannon on the Wiggle Wart. Wiggle Warts
  16. It'll be for cold weather and I like superlines with a fluoro leader - so micro's are out. EDIT- (Sorry I saw your reply after I posted - tiny smartphone screen)
  17. Good report except the snake bite part. Hope he's doing O.K. now. Even with the warm up last week I haven't seen any snakes around here yet.
  18. O.K. -I was looking at either the HS9000 OR THE HS9600, so this will give me something else to consider.
  19. I've been eyeballing one of those MHX blanks for a similar task - throwing 1/8th or 3/16th hair jigs into the next time zone. Do you know which exact model you built that off of? It would be most appreciated.
  20. Water's still up just a little, but the color is awesome, and it's getting warmer. Bass - Fair on suspending jerks, grubs, swim jigs, and slow-rolled spinnerbaits. Crappie - fair on tiny swim jigs and grubs, and everything else is unknown. I found a hole on the Finley that's just stuffed with Crappie - sorry - find it yourself. I fished both in the park here in Ozark, and above the park (down from Linden), and also down near where the Finley dumps into the James.
  21. Different Creek, senor.
  22. Yeah - I thought it was the classic misdirection with it not being Oprah, (and pretty good) but people didn't get it.
  23. Paddling backwards, get it right. Ha!
  24. Any that thought my comment was anything besides a joke is showing their personal bias. This is why there will never be world peace - people want to get mad.
