My life is busy. But it's mostly my fault. My #2 daughter is getting married on the 29th to a wonderful young man, Jimmy. The wedding will be here at the college- lots of people are coming. I haven't had alot to do with planning... just writing checks My parents 50th anniversary is the day before and we're throwing them a surprise party that evening down here on the lake. So we're burning the candle on both ends, so to speak. Caleb has been in Rhwanda this summer finishing his internship in videography. He's working with Feed the Children, videoing kids and conditions there. He has a blog here - http://cobproductions.blogspot.com/ We are trusting he has a life-changing experience there- no doubt he has. Greg is working this summer, entering College of the Ozarks for his 2nd year. He's the only kid still at home, technically anyhow. He's doing well. My trip to Alaska was exhausting. I lost almost 20 pounds but gained alot of strength from working on the cabin. I was pretty burned out before I left which was unfortunate. Not many people get to do what I did and I feel I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have. I'm planning on going back in September to help Jim guide and close down the camp for the winter. I've been fishing here on Taneycomo a few times, going real well at catching rainbows and a few nice browns. It's nice to have running water for an extended time (most of spring and summer)- it really makes our trout bigger and stronger when it runs. I look to have a very good fall season for browns and rainbows. Starting last fall, a couple of guys started a new template for OA for the purpose to improve the look and navigation on the site. They had it ready about the time I left for AK but I didn't have time to work up the files for it. We're now working on it again but I don't think we'll have anything to share till after I get back in October, seeing how things have gone in the past. I have lots of ideas, just hope we can work them all up on the site. Back a few weeks ago, hackers hacked their way onto several servers owned by the company who hosts my sites, including OA and the forum. I don't know for sure what they did or why but Jim and others have to rebuild their servers, starting from scratch basically. The sites were down for a day or two. Some sites are still not up including LilleysTackleStore.Com. They're having trouble with the XCart software people getting the basic back up and running. I'll have to rebuild the data base which is about 100 hours of work. I want to devote some time to the webcams again. The software that drove them now locks up on my computer and whatever I've tried hasn't worked. I'm going to have to buy new video cards for another computer and the software and try to run them off it instead of my main computer- either that or reinstall windows and start over, which I'm not enthused. Best be going...

I hope everything is working out... sorry for the delay but I have prayed for you and your situation since I read the request. And will continue. But I would suggest praying with your family together about the situation. Strength comes in numbers and they will see your heart in the matter when you lead.

Father- I ask for Your wisdom for our friend. Wisdom in his finances. I asked that You show him what to do and the faith and patience to do it. Provide good, wise counsel for him and his family. And after this mess is over, let him keep looking to you for wisdom in all he does. Thanks Jesus, Amen

Got this email from a guy who has a fly fishing service out of Aruba. Here's his site. http://www.flyfishingaruba.com/index1.html Interesting thing is they take fly fishing equipment for payment for their trips. May be we can take a group down there someday.

I was told that there was only ONE boat ramp open on all the lakes within 100 miles of Dallas on the 4th of July weekend. Not sure what lake it was on.

I don't get offended at all... I just don't want it to get started. In this business, I hang with alot of guys who use such language and I always chuckle when they apologize for it, like I'm the potty mouth monitor on duty. I'm not their judge but they feel like I am cause I don't chose to use it. I understand Al's point too. It puts alittle emphasis on a statement where needed. I'm not going to police every post... no time for it. I just don't want it to over run the forum like it has on other forums.

"This forum often gets emotional and heated in opinions but we usually let cooler minds prevail thus very little need for any censure." ...and I, more than anyone, appreciate this. Thanks.

Linc is here till mid August. He's helping out.

There are some NEW fishing docks at the Landing. Saw them yesterday. Nice ones too. But the entry way hasn't been cut yet so you can't get on.. yet. You can fish off our dock if we're not too busy. Just check in the office when you're down.

Well... I've known Jeremy for alot of years and I'm surprised at this incident. But I won't address it on the forum. Not the place. Sorry this happened. As for my comment of being childish... it was strong and I retract it. It was not intended for Jeremy's fish at all, but I can see how he may have taken it that way. But my point was taken, and it's only my opinion. It carries the same weight as anyone else.

I'd say 20-21. I'm looking at his hands, distance between and out the ends. I'm not a big fan of holding the fish out in front of you... everyone does it to make it look bigger than it is which is alittle childish. But more than that, it's the same pose everyone uses and I like variety. Be creative.

Gezzz the lake is covered with debry and trash. Don't think those remote boats will handle the current!
-
"So I picked out one Guy catching Blues, got all the details." So how were they catching them? If I can't get up there and fish I'd love to know how they are doing it... just for the reading. Do they still use the romote controled boats to take the bait-and-line up close to the dam?

This may seem really picky but I need to nip something in the bud before it gets to be a problem. This has happened VERY little here and I'm grateful. It's the use of symbols to substitute for letters that make inappropriate words. Although it's accepted on other sites, it isn't here. Please don't think I intend to take anyone's freedom of speech away here... just a few unnecessary adjectives.. . Please don't take this personal. Thanks to everyone for making this such a fantastic forum. It's amazing with this many people using it how little we have to monitor it.

There are a fair number of browns in the upper lake for this time of year. I can see them clearly in the channel from Lookout down- they show up alot lighter than the rainbows. Sounds like there's a few at the dam too. Gosh... spawning season is just around the corner. Scarey!

The site went down when the hackers attacked a few weeks ago. They had to rebuild several servers. They had to update some server software on the server the store was on, then update X-Cart. In the process, not sure I understand it all, but the data, or at least the images, have to be reloaded. Well... I spent about 100 hours setting it up last winter and am not enthused about doing it all again. I'm working on an OA upgrade right now. May be later this fall I'll get back to the store. Not sure why hackers to what they do... but they don't get caught too often enough and I'm sure the fine is too low.

lbt was warned after a post a couple of days ago, a post which I deleted. This is the second post of it's kind. I am going to delete the contents of his previous posts and he has been banned from the forum. He has been sent notice. I think it's unfortunate that someone would chose to take a fight to someone without any chance of facing his accuser. Our country was built on such. Whoever you are, you should be ashamed. This will not be tolerated on this forum.

The word I got is they bombed... very slow.

Maybe. The current and eddies along the bank makes using a jig challenging. A sink tip would be even more so because of the drag it creates. 1/32nd or 1/16th oz jig under an indicator would work better.

Boated not quite up to Lookout this evening about 7 pm. Water had just came on one unit... perfect for jig fishing. I had the 1/16th oz white jig from the other day so off I went. First cast- missed one. After about a dozen more, I lost the jig on a snag. Tied on a sculpin/ginger 3/32 oz jig and caught 3 or 4 rainbows on quick succession. Then lost that jig to another snag. Tied on a black/olive 3/32nd and it was on. Didn't have many casts when I wasn't bit. I was throwing to the bluff bank and letting it drop. Tried to cast within 10 feet of the bank cause I was getting most of my hits on the first drop. But if not, I'd get one on the slow retrieve, working as close to the bottom as possible. First pass I lost count. At the narrows, I quickly tied on another white jig cause the corner there holds browns. Saw some nice ones holding close to the bottom. Missed one, then another. Drifted on down without another bite so I boated back up about 200 yards up from the narrow channel and started again. Hooked and landed a 18 inch brown but missed another big brown. Then I landed a 19 inch rainbow (pic). Really fought hard, unlike most of the other fish I caught. Had several about 17 inches but didn't fight like this one. Drifted this section 3 more times as the water started to drop. Could see the trout, esp the browns, close to the bottom slashing for the jig. Lots of fun... wish they ran the water like that every day. I'd be out there at 7 pm rain or shine.

First time I've seen Weaver's site in season. He puts alot of work in reports- pics and all. Most people copy/paste reports and change a few items to save work. It is a good resource.

Not many choices. State Park, Gages, Indian Point. That's about it.
-
No limit. Taneycomo isn't listed as a special lake with special rules except for trout. So the state limits apply: 6 bass daily 30 crappie daily 15 whites daily and so on. No length limits.

OK, just told they are moving the Outdoor Feature Section to the Life Section on Thursday's which will give them less room for features.
