  1. Some of you have been asking about a gallery... you can post pics here and use this as a gallery. If you have pics you want to post and need them on a server, you can email them to me or use several on-line services (I'll have to research and list them). Examples - This blog has an extra step to post your entry if you start one. After writing and hitting done- or whatever- it will appear in a window box like it's done. There's still one more step--- At the bottom left below the window there's a buttom that says "entry options". Hit it and then hit "publish". Then you're done.
  2. It looks to be down for repairs and upgrades... they have alot of traffic or did. I'm sure alot of guys and gals will be back when it comes up. Sounds like the new owners have a few changes for it. Best wishes.
  3. I wrote Glenn Scott today. He's the guy in charge of the Nixa Sucker Days. I talked to him on the phone and he's excited that there's a forum where all of their sucker grabbin' guys can go and talk about grabbin'. I hope it will generate alot of traffic. I may have to go to Sucker Days this year- sounds like alot of fun.
  4. I don't know about braided line but I do know that most used mono or fluorocarbon or hybrids. The water is very clear most of the time and lighter line is a must when using smaller, slower moving baits. When fishing around trees and brush, you need abrasion resistant line like Trilene XT. I just don't fish big bait on the Rock- I'm sure someone else has an answer.
  5. I've always blamed missing or nubbed fins on being raised in the concrete raceways at the hatchery. Some grow them back and some it takes longer to??? They clip brown fins before releasing some browns each year to identify a year class, alternating between the anal fins and the post fin... the little fin the comes out of the lower back.
  6. You live in Springfield and don't know where the outlet store is??? My my... Hard time giving you. The outlet is just to the south of the main store. I'm watching the Finley forum closely cause I, too, want to fish there this year. Thanks for the report.
  7. Crappie have been reported at 2-4 feet deep on the flats... shallow enough for a fly rod indeed!!
  8. You could use the blog for what you're talking about now... You'd have your own section and could post pics and stories there.
  9. Flying Fish You may want to save this to a file and then play it. It's pretty big just to play. Chris Gebhardt sent it to me. It's pretty crazy.
  10. 7.14 pounds if I remember right. I think I'm now behind a couple of years... not good.
  11. Hey Jamie- did I ever send you the plaques for the traveling trophy?
  12. Well they finally open the tubes last night and this morning. I can't get out and take advantage of it this morning- too many irons in the fire. But from the looks of the TroutCam, the trout are happy they're running it too. They are eating everything that moves it looks like.
  13. First time I've seen the troutcam when the water is running... they are running 4 units at 6 feet. Lots of substance floating off the bottom and the trout are very active.
  14. Each team will be required to DECLARE where they will fish, above Fall Creek or below Fall Creek. Those declaring above in the trophy area, they will not be allowed to weigh in any rainbows "in the slot" - between 12 and 20 inches. Those declaring below Fall Creek are not to go above Fall Creek at anytime during the tournament. This is one of the rules in the contest. It's worked very well up to now.
  15. My ideal favorite is some water, however small a flow it is to 2 units. Jig fishing is excellent. Fly fishing is excellent- both are easily manageable. But I am talking about fishing from a boat. I don't mind 3-4 units but fly fishing becomes alittle tough. Jig fishing- just go with heavier jigs. I'm really missing some generation right now. Winter jig fishing with 2-3 units is lots of fun.
  16. I have YMCA meetings today and have to buy a new cell phone this afternoon so I won't be around the shop but I'd like to see it. I have an email into MDC and hope to hear back shortly.
  17. That's a cool fly!!! But if it's soft plastic... I don't know. I'll try to get someone from MDC to look at it and tell us if it's legal in the trohpy area or any flies only waters. I hope it is! What is the tube- strech tubing ?
  18. Dubbing... did I spell it wrong? Dubbing- you use on scuds... fur... you know... You got me paranoid on this one Brian.
  19. http://ozarkanglers.com/events.php Both tournaments here.
  20. I have my cell most of the time- during the daytime anytime. Leave a message if I don't pick up.
  21. No tourneys here this weekend... must have been from one of the shops or a private thing.
  22. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...10/default.aspx Go here and update your windows media to version 10. Then it should work.
  23. Fishing was much better today... it's amazing what a little wind will do. Believe it or not, that's what made the difference. Almost everyone went home happy today (I always have to say almost cause there's always that one person... you know...). Everyone that checked out caught trout today- bait fishermen and lure fishermen. Vince reported to me he had a nice evening of fly fishing at the MDC boat ramp. He caught numerous rainbows on what he calls a woolly bugger - size #20 - which I may call a bit scud (Rader's name). He was wading up from the ramp in the slow moving, shallow water there. He also said there was a young man doing well throwing a 2-3 inch rapala fishing from the bank close to the ramp.
  24. Just click this link and it should start automatically. http://ozarkanglers.com/troutcam.php
  25. I have a saying and I hope you don't take offense but... You Dog!! I really wish I fished today- I knew it would be good. Enjoy those filets!
