1. No spots... just general details needed! I'm sure glad they're there. No one has found them. Hopefully they're on Table Rock too. Thanks!
2. Talked to a friend who said they caught dozens of whites yesterday down further from the dam that we were fishing. Another said they caught tons below the 160 bridge on the flats. All still have eggs. Past years... we did not do well at all the last 2 years as far as harvest. Not sure what you mean. This year has been a banner year- cleaning alot and releasing alot. It's just different, I guess. Not sure what is normal any more. No rain equals creeks aren't ideal for spawning and they won't move up. Alot have already spawned but many have not and may not. Who knows. But again, I don't think harvesting affects next years crop. Look at Oklahoma. There tons of anglers hauling in whites on the Spring River. They catch them 12 months out of the year and still, I've never seen a river so full of white bass. And it's the same on many other waters in OK where in many of those places - there is NO limit on white bass. They are extremely prolific given the right spawning conditions.

4. Tight line, work them off the bottom. I have a couple of articles and a video showing how I do it.
5. This, I guess, backs up my statement. Craig Viscardis, Curtis's son. White jig below Lookout. First fish of the morning. Didn't measure but I'd say 24-25 inches and 8 pounds. Took him 20 minutes to land. Kept in livewell for 30 minutes to make sure she was good to release. Video of landing it and release coming your way. What a fishery!!!
6. Glad you found us. Welcome.
7. Great to have you here. Looks like you've jumped right in!
8. Guys went back out this afternoon and said the fishing was better than this morning. It's hard to believe. This is a pretty serious statement from me cause I don't say this lightly - I chose my timing carefully cause I don't want to be saying the same thing every six months or annually. So here goes- This is the best trout fishing I've ever seen on Lake Taneycomo in my 27 years of being here. Size, number, fight, quality, color. And browns to boot. And it's not just up within the first mile of the lake. It's not even just in the trophy area. We caught quality trout all the way down to Short Creek this morning in jigs. Today the guys boated 8 browns all over 16 inches up to over 20. Generation - the flow is absolutely perfect for throwing jigs - straight line. 30 mw - less than one unit. Here's the largest brown Brent caught this afternoon.

Water running less than one unit. Barely got up above rebar to the cable but did better well downstream below Lookout this time. Numerous rainbows over 15 inches up to 19. Four browns total this morning. All on jigs - mostly white but some on sculpin.
Enjoy the video.
10. SE of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
11. Was going to Beaver till I read tightline's post. Put in at River Run about 2 pm. Rockpile- caught several whites right off the bat- white jig on the bottom off the side and behind the pile but no more. Did hook and lost a nice walleye on a olive swimming minnow there. Drifted dodwn and fished the river run side. Anchored and hit the eddies and caught whites here and there on blue rebels, small sluggos and white jigs for the next few hours. No real concentrations of whites. Ended up with 22 between the 3 of us. Caught a brown and several rainbows too. Wind made it tough at times.
12. He still can't log in. We've created new accounts and everything. Don't know what the problem is.
13. Several other reports just the same today. It was a good catching day. John Johnson and Brent from OK said they had one of their best days on Taney this am and John has been fishing here for 30 years. Sculpin 1/8th oz jigs from the cable to boat ramp. Best numbers, best size and fight. Kelly Stammer said they boated over 100 rainbows same area today on white jigs. All trout caught and released. I'm going out tomorrow and show John how to catch them...
14. Shane sent me this. I think it's very helpful for what you're seeing- I was reading some of the posts on your forum and you may want to include some information about phytoplankton. That's often what gives the water the green or brown appearance and it responds to nutrients just like the algae. Spring is the time for both to grow at their best, so I imagine different parts of the lake have different nutrient loads, which would cause the differences in water clarity (amounts of phytoplankton) and the differing levels of algae (clearer water = more algae, dirtier water = less algae); due to photosynthesis and the depths at which it can occur based on the clarity of the water. Just some thoughts. Reservoirs are complex systems. The fish are going to move up and spawn regardless of the algae, phytoplankton levels, etc. It may just affect how deep they spawn. It seems like it warms early every year, then cools down, then warms back up. I'm a believer that photoperiodism (daylight length) has just as much of an effect on fish spawning as water temperature, and in some cases like Taneycomo, probably more. It's still early, I bet fishing picks up and stays steady in the next couple weeks. Hopefully we can take advantage of it when it does!
15. Very nice, Phillip. Are you going to have these printed?
16. Keep a watch on the forum and you'll learn alot. Spring River- that's not too far and it's usually full of fish.
17. http://ozarkanglers.com/podcast/4-16-10.mp4 OK... I got mixed up on dates. Let me know if you CAN'T hear this podcast.
18. Super- I'm heading over there shortly.
19. http://ozarkanglers.com/podcast/4-17-10.WMA I'll have the mp4 version up here in a little bit.
20. Bill and I went to find some crappie and did not find any. Lots of small bass. Tried all the crappie spots we knew of and more. Water temp up to 68. Where are they?
21. 4/13 Fished Tuesday evening- put in at River Run and tried Barker Hole- caught 4 whites on the bottom of channel 24 feet on white jigs. Nothing much going on down there. Tried some crappie areas - nothing. Boated back up to half way between Swan and the dam and tried the mud bluff bank on the right - nothing. That's been a hot spot in years past. Went into Swan about sundown. Caught 3 whites on the field's edge on a blue rebel. Had some other follows and strikes. Nothing much else caught in the creek. Very clear. Fish I cleaned- the ones in the main lake- females had eggs. In the creek- spawned out. 4/14 Put in at the 160 bridge about 6 pm last evening with Vince. We wanted to catch some whites on fly rod. Headed down past the shoal past a couple of boats and waders. Anchored on the slack side and fished the channel. Fairly good current, very clear. Fly fishing- nothing. Tried lots of flies and jigs. I started throwing a while jig and caught my limit. Vince stayed with the fly rod and then caught 4 whites after dark on a floating rebel. Most females and all with bloody eggs. Nothing big- 1.5 pounds biggest but mostly less than a pound. Not much else caught that we say.
22. How can the water be turning? When it turns in the winter, the temperatures are falling on the surface and warm down deep. The colder, heavier water "flips" with the warmer water on the bottom... hot is lighter than cold. Right now, it doesn't make any sense. But I have a question in to Shane Bush, fisheries for MDC, I am curious to see what he says.
23. <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="405">
Running 2 units but barely equal to one unit flow.
Didn't get out as early as I wanted to this am- 6:45 am left the dock. Sun was already up at the dam. Drifted a couple of times from the cable to the top of the first island, once with white and once with sculpin 1/8th oz jig and caught nothing but dinks. They weren't hitting hard either. Then I drifted from the root wade down to Rocking Chair and did better. One nice brown and a couple of 17 inch rainbows plus the dinks again. Nothing really below that. Seems if the sun was on the water the trout didn't bite.
Drifted from Lookout to the Narrows once with white jigs and caught 10. One brown about 16 and the rest rainbows. Again, dinks but had 4 nice rainbows including the one in the video. These guys are fighting harder than I can ever remember tham fighting. They did take it hard and I had to be deep in the channel with the jig too. Lots of moss on the bottom which is think is a good thing for the bugs.
24. Exactly! It'd break my line and we wouldn't get to see the fish!! :) I set the drag pretty tight but it would still give if it has to. Bruce Johnson told me to never trust a drag so that's how I've fished for 20 years. I think if you set the drag too loose - if the drag gives when you set the hook, that's too loose.
25. Try working the bluff bank in front of our place next time. I've been throwing sculpin 1/8th jigs and doing pretty well. Best, I think, when the bank is in shade - early am and later pm.
