  1. I agree- both sides are guilty of exaggerating. Don't you think as science moves further in discovery, being able to see deeper into how life works, they will discover the how life started? I would think so. I've heard and seen the ID side bring up the process of blood coagulation as evidence of design. Not versed to say why but something to do with the process and how there's no way this came about in an evolutionary process.
  2. Wayne- I'd think they would be in flood control mode only because even if they needed to run water on account of power demand they couldn't. The there's no place to "get rid of" any water. Granted, they may be releasing a small amount from Bull Shoals- I haven't looked. You have to look at all 3 dams, Beaver, Table Rock and Bull Shoals exactly like you would Powersite- they are all spillways with turbines. If the rainfall we get is more than what a turbine can move, then they'll open a flood gate or two.
  3. Very hard to say. Alot of their guests have been using our dock this week. Until the water stops, it'll be hard to get the ramps back in place I'd say.
  4. No flood gates yet. I doubt if the Corp will run more now until the rain tonight and then there's no way to guess how much. This is going to an ongoing problem until they can get some of this water out of here. This is twice the Corp/Emergency Agencies have advised evacuations and nothing happened. Better safe than sorry BUT it's tough on people's nerves.
  5. Great report and thanks for the pics!
  6. Has anybody looked at the road that goes from Shadow Rock Motel over the hill thru the housing division and would circle around back to the motel along the creek IF it wasn't under water? We put in there a couple of weeks ago but it's higher now.
  7. The level of TR will be the same as it is today on May 4. The ramps that are open today will be open on May 4.
  8. Fox- I already posted this on ozarkanglers... but thanks for posting it here too.
  9. We've been informed that rains west and south of here will probably prompt the Corp to open the flood gates at Table Rock Dam tonight. The Hollister Fire Department told people on Arcacia Club Rd and Foggy River Rd to prepare to evacuate at a moments notice. I've heard alot are already moving. The time and amount of water is unknown. It depends on how high Beaver and Table Rock's level rise with these rains. It may be just a big scare... or it may not be. Bottom line - we're in for this kind of speculation EVERY TIME it rains until they can get the water moved thru these lakes. When may that be? I hate to guess.
  10. It's high... not much current coming thru from Taney. I'm sure Swan is clear up at the impoundment. Vince and I drove thru Forsyth and over Swan a couple of days ago and thought about fishing Swan but didn't know where to put in. Went to Beaver instead. So- no I haven't been. Honestly, I don't think many have but may be someone will chime in.
  11. 175 I think.
  12. Find a guide who needs to unload one... they can give you a great deal usually.
  13. Just talked to Bill... he said he and the other guides did not do well on the Rock yesterday. His clients caught 3 fish- other guides didn't fair that well. Weather is just too nice; fishing pressure; it's called "fishing".
  14. There's still plenty of food... it just changes from eggs to flesh. There's still leeches and smolt but flesh would be the #1 food flowing in the river. And they love flesh!! September is good... but the camp is booked solid. Need to look at '09 to schedule a September trip and I'm serious when I say- you should book NOW. You can book without a deposit now and decide Jan '09 if you still want to go or can go. That goes for any dates next year. Alot of weeks are already taken.
  15. Former President George H. W. Bush caught a mammoth tarpon Saturday while fishing off the Florida Keys near Islamorada, Fla., according to the Florida Keys News Agency. Bush chose to release the giant with an estimated weight of around 135 pounds -- the largest tarpon the 84-year-old ex-president has ever caught, the agency reported. The boat on which he was fishing had a legal harvest tag. In place of the fishing trophy, a fiberglass reproduction mount will be commissioned to hang in the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M University. Bush, accompanied by former Olympic skiier Andy Mill, wrapped up a weekend angling trip to the Keys Sunday, the agency reported.
  16. Did you try grubs on the gravel banks? I haven't been up on TR since the high water so I may be all wet but I do well if I find gravel and swim a dark grub close to the bottom.
  17. Ding ding ding... you win.
  18. What are you guys using?
  19. What was the water temp?
  20. Back when the forum was young or even back I had a simple posting board, I felt like I had to answer every question (along with Bill). As the forum grew, it took alot of pressure off me, Bill and others. Now the pressure is almost totally off. There's people here that answer questions better than us! BUT I think Bill puts undo pressure on himself to be the go-to guy when he shouldn't. When I see a repetitious question in my area of expertise, I just let it go and someone else will come along and answer it. It works.
  21. I heard last year Bristol Bay has 9 mil sockeye. Normal is 4 mil? Is that a correct figure? Is that the whole bay or only Naknek? Is there a website where you can find this info? I didn't think they could stop the mine... way too big of a find.
  22. A tripod would have helped...
  23. Vince needed some fish meat for a fish fry coming up so we just had to go... but where? Ramps? Best place to find meat? What kind? White bass seemed to be the best choice but where? Long Creek has been hot. Yoccum. Too far for us. Bull Shoals? Swan? Beaver? Where do we launch. There hasn't been multiply threads on ramps on BS... oh my!! Not one. But we went anyhow. Thought we could put in at the 160 bridge and was right. Boated upstream 3 miles probably, may be alittle more. I think mileage gets alittle stretched in reports so I try to be as close as I can. We boated up to where there was current. It was along way! Lots of debry in the water most of the way too. Tough getting back out in the dark. We started with small males and ended with them with a few good size males and I think sows in between. Caught most of them on blue back rebels and husky jerks. Some on white jigs. Caught some after dark on swimming minnows, purple, and black beetles. I think the spawn is about over up there. Talked to some that said last Thursday was very good but most sows were spawned at that time. Water temp - 57. Water was great color. Could see 4 feet but cloudy. These whites will stay in the creek I bet for a month. Lots of food and more when all the fishes start spawning and having minnows. Lots of cover for all... I'd fish the fields around brush. i've caught whites in Beaver all the way up into June. the bridge 160 highway Interesting pic - note the baits. I liked the light here and the dark green on one tree. It turned out kinda nice. First sow. Interesting pic. Care to guess what it is?
  24. Should be able to catch white bass up Long Creek. It's been pretty good I hear. They won't come out too quickly after spawn... will be lots of food for them up in the creeks long after the last do their thing.
  25. Completely disregard my silt question or comments pertaining to the bottom of Taneycomo. There is no problem at least in the upper lake and that's where the majority of the scuds live. I spoke out of line. The affect of running water, of flood gates on Taneycomo is incredible. The trout we are seeing now are HUGE in comparison to past years. They have had so much to eat- everyday- for the past 2 months it's amazing. Our trout are still puking out scuds on the upper end of the lake. Last night we caught rainbow after rainbows at or over 15 inches that were thick, strong trout. I saw rainbows like this one year back in the 80's after weeks of generation and continuous shad. The best part we're going to see generation all summer I predict. Babler came in this afternoon off a trip saying he's never seen our trout in this condition. Hopefully he'll post a report... he said he's not posting again for a while... burned out I think. Something about "A" typically bass fishermen.
