  1. Did you get a pic of the 28"?
  2. Adipose fin is clipped
  3. I don't blame ya there! How many ppl can it haul with gear?
  4. Jake what are you running as far as a motor goes?
  5. Great variety of colors, hooks are poor. Even the smaller ones come with saltwater style hooks, made of tin, which is a pretty thick wire and makes it tough to get a good hook-set (and tears up the fish pretty bad). Some of the newest line, 3DR have black nickel hooks, but they don't have the action that the older ones do.
  6. Thanks. Lots of big boulders down there in some of the deep water if I recall. That's a cool stretch of the river, seems like lots of structure and deep water.
  7. Pretty awesome stuff. Wonder if a drone could handle a 15lb Brown?! Speaking of Phil's drone video, does anyone know what the depth is where Phil was headed toward (from Narrows to Lookout)? I have found resources on here with maps, one says 5-9 ft and another says 9-12 ft.
  8. Prob more "low speed" wrecks in Colorado with the recreational marijuana laws in effect
  9. Wondering if there's any resources to check bull shoals water temps? heard that when it gets down around 42 the trout all take naps and it's worthless fishing, would like to avoid that.
  10. Congrats on an awesome fish Phil. Even though I knew you had landed it... I was cringing watching the video, thinking "don't come off don't come off" as you were working that thing in! ha!
  11. Nope the clipped adipose fin is a courtesy to remind anglers that these fish were genetically modified (GMO) and taste TERRIBLE so you ought to throw those nasty ones back.
  12. That is a nomad mid-length net from fishpond- 37" in length. Admittedly no tape long enough, we measured that fish with both the net and tape pieced together- 50" app.
  13. Up by outlet 1 on a big jointed jerk bait, certainly not a fly. That thing would have taken me for a ride on the fly rod!
  14. ONE DOWN
  15. Phil you may be able to get incredible drone footage tomorrow while the water is low or off. Be really cool if water is off and clear, you could just about map the narrows or whole trophy area with quality video. I would like to be able to rent a boat from you again to go up lake ........ sans buying you a new prop!
  16. Maybe they could hire the new "jet boat" attraction to yank em out of the mud/rocks up closer to the bank, then hook up the wrecker?!
  17. Looks like water is off again this morning... any reports or pictures of the stream bed???
  18. That's a beauty. 24 inches or so? What's been lengths of these big browns I've been seeing lately caught out of taney? Plenty of 20"+ it seems, awesome!
  19. Besides using more fuel, what are some other differences? Faster/slower, maintenance, etc...?
  20. @DADAKOTA @JestersHK My dad and I talked about this exact thing last time we were there a couple weekends ago. I bet it would work too. I have a serious itch to come down and fish. I just don't know if fishing up around the dam from the bank can be successful (night time?!)
  21. We were down last weekend fishing from a boat, really struggled to find out how to catch fish. They were running 10k+ CFS and we don't have any experience fishing that type of water. Threw lots of 1/8th oz jigs, some plugs and jerk baits, caught 4 on the jigs through Saturday and Sunday. I thought one of us would hang in to a good one since I always hear fishing high water brings them out! I will say that I had some exciting follows back to the boat on a jerk bait.... but no takers. Be fun to try and get down there when the shad thing is going on and try that.
  22. Thanks fellas! Ruthead you should come next time. You in? It was definitely a drag throwing those knowing it was far from ideal conditions. I was out in front of outlet 3, just upstream. Never caught much there. Was my first toss while walking by there toward rebar. I'd caught one fish and several strikes the previous 6 hours, just couldn't stop at that point. Glad I didn't! That's the biggest trout I've landed.
  23. My brother and I came down Friday after work and left Sunday around noon. We fished most of the nights both nights, with varying results. I was excited to try something new so I threw some stick baits as the "flow powers that be" updated forecasts all weekend for 35mW of water. Never got any water at all... which from what I have researched is not good for that type of fishing. BUT, I did it anyways! My brother did well picking up several fish on smaller jigs and sculpin patterns on the fly rod, but I kept chucking the sticks. It reminded me of Musky fishing in Canada..... a lot of throwing, a little catching. I did hang in to a beautiful bow early Sunday/late Saturday though!
  24. Phil you sure you aren't pulling our chain? No picture, no fish! Lol
  25. @JestersHK Let me clarify- one of the three of us caught 20+..... on one of the three nights we fished. I got skunked the final night and gave up early. I blame my aching elbow and likely crappy presentation! The first night, Thursday, water was on earlier in the day and we got on the water around midnight. Water flipped on an hour earlier than projected at I think 7am Friday morning... we caught a few when that happened, but not as fast and furious as in the past. I caught some on a Griffith's gnat with a black midge dropped under it. From that time on there was no water running, the stream was really low by the time we took off around 1am Saturday night. I really don't have much confidence in throwing sticks as I am new to that method. The trip before this one, my brother threw a rainbow color Rapala and hammered fish from about 5am to 7am (he threw it as a last ditch effort as we weren't doing well on the fly rods) then threw that and other cranks the rest of the day to no avail. We were near what we call the pancake house, I think it's trophy run? Just upstream from the long straight rock bank, where those stinking vultures roost... man those things smell the place up!
