  1. They don't have a limit. But I do.
  2. Hit the water about 8 am Thursday. Already 6 boats there, but it was early and the wind hadn't picked up yet. 3 guys fishing from the bank too. Didn't start ketching any til past the pillars, but then the rodeo was on. Was using double jigs about 15 inches apart and Mr Crappie Jokers, blue-grass seemed to be their favorite. Tons of shad by the way. Marked most of em about 10 to 12 feet deep. Strolled up thru em about .3 to .4 mph and bout every 5 mins, THUMP. Had a heck of a time, best since the spring spawn. Didn't even have to worry about staying on the break, they seemed to prefer the middle of the channel. Had my limit of 15 in less than 3 hours. Nice sized too. Released them all. Don't like rubber fish(drum). At least its something to read about resembling fishing. OGHFM

    Got Schooled

It looked like a rope sinking in the lake but I can't argue w/ the results
  4. Feel for ya Dan, is the honey do list achievable sitting down. In front of the computer. Watching you tube fishing videos. Hope you heal quickly and wet a line soon
  5. Went to Truman yesterday, hooked up w/ cousin Leon, looking for the crappie thump. Got a serious lesson from cuz! Same bait, same cedar trees, he had braided line I had flouro coated. His home lake. He said the bite was really slow. Mighta been on his pole, it was nonexistent on mine. Me thinks I don't like cedars or Truman or possibly both. It was an education. Switched to his setup which was a Big Bites 1/8 ounce jig with a hook big enough for blue cat. He caught over half a limit, then made me take them home. Probably thought they were all I'd catch this year. I did tailhook a one-eyed channel and begged to keep him but cuz wouldn't allow him in the livewell. Also took home a sunburn. Humbled
  6. I have a 798c SI HD. I would think the transducer are the same. Check it out, be glad to help if I can.
  7. Me jealous too.
  8. Those ain't trout, them be carpie.

    Tough Day

I would sell a grandchild for a day like that, but I do feel for you.
  10. Pay attention to Dan Hufferd and lmt out, they have their fingers on the walleye pulse. Probably wouldn't hurt to book an outing w/ Gary Stanton either. When fishing w/ grandkids I like bb w/ slow death cause they catch channel too, and kids just wanna catch fish
  11. Bud and Gloria's by Spring River in Carthage should carry them.
  12. Depends on how big your boat is, and you don't want a tiny boat on Stockton. I used to fish out of a 14 ft. v bottom but it had pretty good sides. Stockton can get really rough. Never fished Crabtree, more Ruark area for me, CC is my winter ramp, it's not steep, just a little narrow for some.
  13. Jeez= bet the Canadians are jealous too.
  14. Dan the flicker rig is berkleys version of a crawler rig w/ 2 single hooks, I just modify it to a single VMC hook which has a built in swivel that allows the nightcrawler to slowly rotate in a circle as you troll it. I use half a crawler w/ this setup.
  15. BTW Dan, caught my personal best eye last Monday trolling a Berkley Flicker Rig w/ the two hooks removed and a VMC version of the slow death hook. It has a built in swivel. 25 incher, thought I had a channel, nearly brown trousered myself.
  16. Dan I pull redirig planer boards and floats on the flats and believe getting the lure in quieter water helps. These boards and floats release with walleye and channel but are iffy w/ crappie. They slide back to a bead placed above the swivel, then a 3 to 4 ft leader back to the bait, this prevents the planer or float from knocking the hook out of the fishes mouth. These are light planers and I just use 8 lb test. I can run a planer out each side and a float out each side for 4 total, with slightly wide turns. Would enjoy getting together some time if you want to see them work without having to make an investment first. I fish the Ruark area but will fish about anywhere . OGHFM
  17. J E A L O U S again. Would you be interested in taking my eldest grandchild in trade for walleye catching lessons? Just saying.
  18. Usually run 3 rods, ten or 12 footers out each side then one straight back w/ a redirig float and an extra 25 or so feet of line to keep them separated in the turns. Works for me.
  19. Me yesterday. Trolled flicker shads and caught crappie, bass and a 4 lb channel. They're 9, 10 and 11 yrs old. Guess I should have bought their dad a tv back in 05. The boy caught his first fish on his new birthday rod and reel, and it was the channel, told me he thought he was hung up, ha, it was a rodeo, flicker shad is still stuck in the dip net. any how, ducked a t storm, had a great times with the little pit hissers and wore the old gray haired fat man out.
  20. T H E Man/Lady
  21. Put a single step which cost about 25 bucks on the left side of my super guide trailer, step on the folded jack then the step, easily grab the frame of my Millenium seat and my fat 67 y/o bod is up there pretty easily. Cheap but a lot easier than before. Did I mention I'm cheap.
  22. But not on eyes like my new hero lmt out. Crappie in 20-30 fow, mostly near timber w/ lots of baitfish in area, flicker shad #7, black and chrome, firetiger and racy shad was their favorite, probably caught 35 but took home 12 from 11-13 inches, south of the dam (way south). Hope everyone has a great dads day.
  23. Set 16 single hook jugs w/ wieners Fri night 5 fow, not one taker, left them over sat night, 4 on the old wieners sun am, all about 1 to 2 pounds, my bet is the big uns are thinking nesting, but I prefer them 1-3 lbs anyway, just saying.
  24. What color boat do you have, I think mine spooks em.
  25. wow-monotonous regularity, I must be using the wrong color boat.
