I have been twice so far this year, but plan on making several trips now that I've gotten my boat back on the water.
My first trip was to fish a crappie tournament, which I won, with a weigh-in of 9.5 lbs on my best 10-crappie. I was able to get on them while they were spawning against the banks and once I found a presentation they really liked, I was catching crappie almost every cast using a jig - I didn't touch a minnow, which is typically favored for larger crappie in MTL.
Then I went again last weekend primarily to check out a few new spots pinned on my Navionics app.. The crappie had moved away from the banks, but were still active if you knew where to find them a bit deeper, not quite summer pattern though... Using my jig, I started nailing bass around downed timber where the crappie were previously spawning, catching several over 12" but no lunkers. My next trip, hopefully next weekend, I will be focusing primarily on bass and will write up a report on what I find.
