  1. Sad when that happens. Sunday afternoon was rough out there
  2. Interested to hear how you do. I’ve got a few spinner rigs made up as well.
  3. Sequoyah and elm dale both have a courtesy dock for sure. May have to call sequoyah to make sure it’s open. It was closed for awhile due to being a city lake and because of Covid fears. I like lake sequoyah myself but have been fishing out of blue springs and Roufa mostly of late.
  4. Perfect. Thanks
  5. Thanks, Lance. The chart would certainly be nice. I’m making my own but anything helps. Last weekend I was running 1/8 jigs plus a split shot and getting down 15-18 feet with boat at about .8 mph. Normally my 1/8 jigs alone run 10-12 and down to 15 if I let out enough line. so the split shot helped a bit. A lot of the fish I found that day were on deep brush so I had to stay above them anyway to keep out of the trees. I’m enjoying the learning curve.
  6. You sure you’re not just posting the same 4 crappie while sitting on a cooler wearing different shirts? just kidding. Nice work. I haven’t been able to get out as I’m having a few back problems. Plan to have that worked out and get back after em next week. Last time I was out I did mark a lot of fish in much deeper water. Must be setting up for a summer pattern I guess. I had trouble getting down to them as I was long lining. Towards the end of my trip I added a bit of weight to a few rods and those rods started catching fish. Learned something there. good luck and keep after em. Greg
  7. Nice catch. Glad you got into a few
  8. I saw a few schoolers just north of the 412 bridge At the mouths of the coves last Sunday. These were mostly white bass with a few largemouths thrown in. Right at sunrise. They were down by the time the sun came up.
  9. Took my FIL and my son out this morning. Slow trolled jigs at .8 - 1.2 mph. Found most fish at 15 fow out to about 30. Fish were mostly suspended around 10-15 feet deep. Water temp was 67 this morning. Kept a nice mess but not near a limit! Biggest fish were all right around 1.5
  10. Nice work. She looks like she’s having a blast!
  11. I think half the fun is figuring them out. The other half may be eating them. Catching is just a plus that leads to eating them! I may have that backwards but you get the picture.
  12. Glad you got em again Lance. The fish I found Sunday were also at about the same depth. I also found some even deeper on brush, like 23’ in 30 fow but moved on to shallower fish. Made a pretty picture on the down scan but logistics made shallower fish easier to target that day. I’m learning more every time I go. Learning the lake, the fish, and various ways of catching them. I’m already finding a few patterns, though I’m not just catching the fire out of them yet, either. For me, I’m finding that these fish, on the edge of spawning, are on flats adjacent to deeper water but close to spawning areas as well. I’m also finding color patterns that work better with muddy water, stained water, full sun, overcast, etc. I’m having a ball.
  13. Took my FIL out to try to find some crappie Sunday. Decided to try a creek I’ve never been in north of the 412 bridge. Most fish we found were still pretty deep by mid morning with that bright sunshine. I’m sure there were folks catching them shallow too but we found some nice bunches of fish in 15 -20 fow and decided to stay on them instead of heading shallow. Caught quite a few, maybe 12-15, fish but a lot of them were short. Ended up with a nice mess within the three hours we were there. Big fish around 1.5. All on jigs. Water temp in the creek arms was around 64. Main lake was 62.
  14. Thanks. Me too. The sad part is how many fish I was seeing on the sonar! Of course this happens just when I think things are getting good! Anyway, congrats on your haul. Hope to see you back out there soon.
  15. Nice work again Lance. I got out there at 1:00 and my new ultrex decided it wanted to just go in circles. Spent an aggravating hour trying to fix things so I could at least fish. No dice. It’s in the electronics. Gotta take her to the marina tomorrow. Glad you got em!
  16. Thanks again for the information. As we've been high all spring I suppose we are halfway to a good spawn then! I like input from everyone on these forums, but it is a pleasure hearing from someone who knows. Greg
  17. Notropis, that was a very informative post. As a non-biologist, I had no idea. Thank you for the information. I always worry about the crappie having a good spawn in beaver because of the fluctuating water levels, but in reality I suppose nature has a way of taking care of itself. I noticed today that the dam gates are now closed, so I would imagine the lake will settle down soon anyway. Greg
  18. That worries me, too. Seems like this happens a lot on Beaver. I guess it probably happens everywhere. I was thinking they were all set for a good spawn with high water in the brush and then this storm comes through. Hopefully things will settle down soon enough and the big females can get to the bank and go do their thing.
  19. Good work Lance. Your day was like my trip last week, only I didn't catch the sows. I found crappie in a lot of places, but they were very scattered and I only caught one or two in each spot. This weather and the water fluctuations has to have things messed up a bit for now. I checked this morning and they opened the gates at the dam. I haven't taken a drive down to the lake to look, but I suspect its high, moving, and muddy. Oh well, I needed to do some work to the boat and managed to get that done this morning. Hopefully she'll be ready to roll when the nicer weather and water returns. Greg
  20. Tried again today. Water temp up to 62. Not sure if the big ladies went shallow or what but I only landed 3 keepers today. Caught several small fish and males but the big ladies weren’t there today. Fishing flats and creek Channel in about 12-15 fow. I talked to a lot of the folks fishing shallow and they didn’t seem to be having much luck either. Guess I just wasn’t where they were today. Tried a new spot for awhile before coming home. Saw lots of fish on the sonar so I thought “oh man, this will be good”. Within minutes I was hooked up on two large whites. Gave it up and came home. If I had time I might have played with the whites a while but I was pushing my luck with the kitchen pass as it was.
  21. Yeah the striper gave him fits on a 14 ft rod and 6lb test!
  22. I’ve had a few trips in the past week or so and just haven’t had time to post them here. I’ve been long line trolling lately. 6-8 rods, 6 pound test. 1/16 and a few 1/8 jigs. Haven’t slayed them but I’ve been catching enough for dinner over 12-15 fow. Some even deeper. I’ve learned a lot from folks on this forum and others. Just trying to share the knowledge in case it helps others. I’m definitely still learning.
  23. Thanks Lance. Still learning a lot from these posts.
  24. Lance, are you mostly finding fish in open water or near brush? With the water fluctuations I kinda felt the crappie would pull into main lake near vertical structure instead of brush piles. I’m still learning, but wondering if I’m right?
