  1. siusaluki: You may be right but I generally think of Trout as being native to the western states other than Brown Trout which are native to Europe. I may have been mistaken but I thought Terry was referring to the Ozark region. gf
  2. To me whether or not a fish is invasive is the answer to your question. It seems to me that almost every time a foreign species is introduced it causes problems. Grass Carp, Bighead Carp, Common Carp and so on. Trout I don't see as a becoming a big problem because they are not capable of becoming invasive. The places in MO that trout can exist without man intervention is very limited and without mans intervention Trout would in all probability die out in Missouri. I really don't think we have any fear of trout destroying other fish habitat in the MO and Mississippi rivers because of overpopulation.
  3. Dont forget the red wigglers. Might get into some big gills or crackers.
  4. Actually after givingthis some serious thought....... I have decided my favorite bait is what ever they are biting on.
  5. Slider: Welcome to the nut farm.
  6. It seems to me every time mankind comes up with something unbreakable - it gets broke. I'm with Terry, they should send me one for an extensive field test. If it can stand up to me it would have to be a great reel.
  7. I knew there were a lot of fly fishing for carp tourneys. But they are common carp. I was specifically thinking about the Bigheads. Looks like you are having a blast SIO3 but how do you keep the Cottonseed cake bait on the flyline? Heh heh JK I was thinking more in terms of spinning tackle but fly fishing for them looks like a lot of fun. I would like to give it a try sometime.
  8. I dunno. I have often wondered where he gets the eyes for all that night time fly fishing?
  9. I know people use gigs and archery equipment to catch bighead carp. What I want to know is if it is possible, other than the occasional accident, to catch them on rod and reel with a reasonable amount of success. If so where is a good place to catch them?
  10. I don't fish for SM very often but when I do I prefer real crawdads.
  11. Welcome to the nut house. Just remember if you get in trouble, its Terry's fault. :P What do you fish for?
  12. We may not get a 17 year hatch but there will still be enough around for fishing bait or snacking on if that is what a person wants.
  13. Wax is what our ears and Bees make. Terry never has to use dubbing wax because he spends a lot of time with his finger in his ear. Felt is a feeling: Terry felt the hook when stuck way down deep in his waxed finger.
  14. Is the weekend of the 9th good for everyone? Saturday 9th or Sunday 10th? I doubt not having a boat will be a handicap. Stockton is a good lake for wading. At least in some places it is.
  15. Beats me but, I don't believe I would wrestle a wild leopard to save a house cat. That guy needs to change his name to mega-nads.
  16. Bedroom wrestle with leopard saves pet cat Reuters | Wednesday, 30 May 2007 An Israeli man wrestled a leopard to the ground after it entered his bedroom in a desert college and tried to make a meal of his pet cat. "He jumped on the leopard and pinned him to the floor, then his wife called us so we could take it away," Amram Zabari, a local park ranger who rushed to the scene, said. Arthur De Mosh, a 45-year-old tour guide at the college near Kibbutz Sde Boker in southern Israel, was awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of the leopard trying to eat his cat.
  17. I dont know if they will guarentee they are chicken but they do guarantee they are fowl....or is that foul.
  18. I dont really doubt the weight of the hog. I think the pic however, was staged or altered to make the hog appear a lot bigger than it really is. The biggest hog I ever seen was a farm raised boar that weighed close to 900 lbs; he was an awesome site but he did not look near as large as the one portrayed in that pic.
  19. Not as much interest as I thought there would be but 8 is enough for a really good time but not so many as to be over burdensome on anyone. Cool. I think Stockton would be a good place for a bluegill get together. Now we just need to set a date, time and place to meet.
  20. Like I said, when I made that post I was thinking in terms of crossing the big water to Europe or some such place. After posting I realized it could mean the Bahamas ect.
  21. Terry: Guess I should have been clearer in my post. I was agreeing with you and SM. It is obvious people (me included) don't understand what exactly they mean by a 5 foot raise. It is easy for me to realize that I don't understand it by asking myself a couple of questions. How many more acres would an additional 5 feet of water cover with the lake at flood stage? Or for that matter how many more acres would a 5 ft overall raise cover at normal pool? When it is looked at that way it is simple to understand they aren't planning to raise the overall lake level 5 feet.
  22. Its just embarrassed that it was caught on a imitation fly and worse yet by a people.
  23. Wing shooting carp with bow and arrow. Think it will ever be an Olympic sport?
