  1. I'll say one more thing on the subject then give up. You and the people you quote sound like the guys who advised Roosevelt against the Doolittle raid. They said it was unnecessary, risky and non-productive. Its a good thing that Roosevelt understood that that little raid would make Japan keep some of their troops in reserve at home so they would have less to throw against the US and it is a good thing that there are some people in this country who understand that we have to take this war to the terrorists if we want to put them out of business and secure our country. I know you dont believe this so we will let history decide. The Dems gained power by scaring the public and talking a cut and run policy. They say they would have us run scared from the terrorists but I bet when it comes down to it they don't cut and run because while they talk a good game they know that cutting and running would be counter-productive to the security of this country. Check out Hilary some time. She HATES Bush yet, she supported the war in Iraq and avoids supporting the cut and run advocates. Why? Becuase she understands it is a central front on the war on terror.
  2. Al, think about it for a minute. If Al Queida were to storm Oregon. Would we leave Oregon to Al Queida and go chase Al Queida in Pakastan? We probably would if we had enough military to protect Oregon, protect the rest of the country and chase them in Pakastan. But what if they invaded say Oregon and Texas. Would we have enough mililtary to protect both states, the rest of the country and to send to Pakastan? What if they hit 3 or 4 states? Would we have enough? The point is that at some point we would be so busy protecting our home front that we would not have time to go to Pakastan. So the problem is really simple if the terrorists busy enough in Afganastan, Iraq and elsewhere they won't have enough military capital to attack us in any meaningful manner here on our own soil. The only way to beat these people is to hold em by the nose while kicking them in the backside. The Dems and the Press know what I am saying is true. They talked a good game of cut and run to gain political power. The Dems are in control now and the press is elated. Now we get to see if they practice what they preach or if they stay and finish the job. I bet they finish because they know they cant cut and run from these people and keep our country safe.
  3. Fareed Zakaria huh Well it appears me Fareed should put a little bit of thought into opinions before putting them down on paper and looking ignorant for it. Sure Al Quida would love to make a spectacular attack on US soil but the simple fact is that the more of them we keep tied up elsewhere the less there are to creat havoc in this country. Really it is a simple function of math. I would bet the Dems change their tune now that they are in power. I don't believe that they were/are actually against us being in Iraq but rather they were upset that they arent in charge.
  4. The big difference between WW II and the war on terrorisim is that everyone knew who and where the enemy was in WW II "Everyone we liberated was on our side." Uhhhhmm, France??? The problem is with the resolve of the US. It seems a lot of people want this war to be like an Sylvester Stallone or Arnold S movie. Not gonna happen. The simple fact is we either fight the terrorists in their backyard or in ours. Personally I would rather go after them but, the citizens of the US spoke in last weeks election. Apparently people would rather fight them on our home soil.
  5. No rookies allowed???
  6. Momma's gravey...just like homemade...Ohh yeah, wheres the lumps? Giving away my age I reckon. Heh heh I really enjoy good gravey, but never did acquire a taste for gravey with the dumplings made right in it.
  7. Works for me. I would rather talk about fishing anyway. Crappie or Redear pereffered. Trout is what a person fishes for when nothing else is biting.
  8. YIKES Terry. That sounds horrible and downright nasty. I asked my Dr about it and he said that was one of the worst things that could happen to a guy. This type of thing is just the reason they tell you that you should always use protection. Now that it is to late for protection is there a shot or vaccine or anything they can do for you?
  9. Uhoohhhh. Noluck and Terry. You guys are in real danger of becoming "real" people and true sportsmen. I ceremoniously salute you and using my 3ft 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 wt multi-use throw any line or fly, nymph or streamer ever built Winston Sage Orvis fast, medium slow action flyrod, that I have loved forever, tap you on each shoulder and k-night you honourable sportsmen. PS: Be warned there are some on here who would boil you in hot oil and burn you at the stake for your forgiving and live let live statements.
  10. Great news. I am glad it worked out this way. I think it is a tribute to Table Rock Asphalt's good sence that they dropped the project.
  11. TexomaOkie you are correct about the porn stuff and in addition to that by clicking on them you can pick up all kinds of mean and nasty lil bugs ie virus, trojan horse, malware, spyware ect ect. Bust thing to do is learn to recognize them for what they are and avoid clicking on them.
  12. Welcome LMW. Dont let Dano scare you. He knows I always take my meds. So do you have a really funny fishing story to tell us? Heh heh Glad to have you.
  13. Man snagged I have loved this post forever. You now have an image to maintain so can you give us any insite into what you are going to do to maintain your future status on OA?
  14. I started with a fannypac then as I continued to grow as a fly fisherperson I went to a super extra large triple fanny pack. Eventually I outgrew this so I added a chestpack and eventually outgrew the largest chest pack and fanny pack so I started adding vests. As I gained proficency as a fly fisher person I outgrew all the storage capacity my body could carry. Now days I use a personal pontoon boat. I find that if I am careful in what I pack I can pull it along behind me just fine and have it loaded down with just about everything I need for a days fishing. I have only loaded it to the sinking point a couple of times. Just have to be careful.
  15. I am still not to get on teh Ozark Hunter Site. Keep getting the same error. IPB WARNING [2] load_template(/home/web/ozarkhunters-com/html/forums/cache/skin_cache/cacheid_4/skin_global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory (Line: 1362 of /sources/ipsclass.php)
  16. The answer to the argument of when life begins is really simple. THe instant an egg is fertalized it begins growing and will continue to grow until it becomes a mature human or it quits growing and dies. As a fertalized human egg has no choices other than to live and grow or die and not; life obviously starts at the instant fertalization takes place. It does not matter where, how or when fertilazation takes place the instant it happens the egg starts to grow and that means it is life. Some argue that at early stage a fertalized human egg is only a few cells and is a shapless blob therefore it is not recoginizable and as such is not life. Strange argument. Would these same people also argue that an amebia (cingle cell blob)is not life. Or how about the horseshoe crab. Green Blood certainly is not recoginizable as life therefore horseshoe crabs must not be alive. Just because something is small or unrecognizable does not mean it isnt life. <quote>'Smallest life form' found off Iceland By David Derbyshire, Science Correspondent (Filed: 02/05/2002) A NEW life form discovered in volcanic waters off Iceland may be the smallest living thing in the world, scientists said yesterday. At 400 millionths of a millimetre across, more than six million of the microbes would fit on the head of a pin. The microbes belong to a new group of archaea, one of the three giant branches of life along with bacteria and eukaryotes, organisms with cell nuclei. A team of German scientists from the University of Regensburg reported in Nature that they found them 360ft down.</quote> These scientists must be wrong because whatever it is they found it is obvioulsly way to small to be life.
  17. Cheets are you picking on me again? You know perfectly well I would never shoot wolves from an airplane. Coyotes from a helecoptor would be more to my liking.
  18. Is that where the fly rod was sticking out of him???? I would have figured it to be in a more southerly location. :D
  19. C'mon with all the braggers on here I figured there would be lots of fishies for us to look at.....so.....where are they?
  20. That thing looks downright complicated....
  21. Nah that'd make it to easy. If flyrods were outlawed there would not be an ethical delima. To shuffle or not to shuffle that is the question. Its the same type of thing as smoking but not inhaling. People who can smoke and not inhale are on a higher ethical plane than people who inhale. Same thing with fly fishing. If a person can resist the temptation to shuffle while fly fishing then he/she is in a spiritually good place. Of all the trails in life there is only one of the true human being and he/she who can fly fish without shuffling is on the trail of being a true human being.
  22. Usually fairly easy but getting harder. Not nearly as many as their used to be. I rarely see shufflers but when I do they mostly catch stockers. At least that is what I see. If they outlaw shuffling then I see nothing to stop them from outlawing any and all natural bait fishing.
  23. My opinion, if they have to be protected and have to have doubtful ammendments made to our constitution then we dont need them. Let them go elsewhere and see if they can find a state willing to ammend their constitution and guarentee them public fundng. I think they are trying it here becasue they think we are backwoods country hicks that arent smart enough to figure it out. JMHO
  24. Heh heh Dano I know what you mean. I myself suffer from Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
  25. I sure wouldnt say anything. Heck I like the way the gal thinks. I wish my wife thought like that. Murdoc: That is a good question and would probably make a good topic. How do they do that? I know my wife can go poof in an instant as for me I can run but there is no way I can hide from her. It defies natural law.
