  1. Phil, is the uptick in real estate values for real? I also heard that wages were going up fast down there and that anyone can get a job. The old Branson days, 30 years ago, sure were nice and simple but the new Branson is kind of exciting. Sure not a wildnerness area like you can find out west.
  2. Not only are retail sales going up but so is real estate value. I am thinking about selling my place there and the agent I talked to said it should sell fast. She told me that there is a work force shortage of about 2000 people for the area and they will be bringing people in to work. They have to live some where. The agent told me they are expecting a real estate boom in the area. I hope she is right. More pressure on our family resorts to sell out.
  3. Johnny Morris sure did.
  4. Phil, wallyworld does not have the selection of pbait that you have. When ever we stay at your place we buy all our gear and pbait in your shop for two reasons: 1. we want you to continue to be successful and stay in business (no condos please) and 2. all of your folks can answer questions about what is working and not working and they are always right on. So what if it is a little bit higher. After staying with you for some 15+ years I doubt if the difference was more than a couple of large pizzas.
  5. loo, just remember a closed mouth gathers no foot. Now go and be good from here on out.
  6. I doubt if one attempted humor post will keep Bill away. The guy was probably kidding so don't take it so serious fellas. If Bill gives us good advice on a jig, and then Phil says he has some and we buy them and catch fish why shouldn't they make some money out of it. I know that is not necessarily their motive but it is their business. I have stayed at Lilley's many times, always ask their advice and most always buy (in their shop) what they tell me. That is why they are the pro's. Everything Bill or Phil have ever told me or posted on here was the gospel truth as they know it. So we want guys like them to make a living from us fishermen or guess what....we don't have places like this or their advice when we fish. My two cents worth on this one.
  7. We will be staying at a resort in the Isabella area in a couple weeks and have never fished that area of the lake. Any advice would be appreciated. We will mainly go after crappie, white bass and catfish on jugs. None of us are big bass fishermen.
  8. I'll bet that little guy's ankles were frozen stiff.
  9. Wow Phil, that is a beauty. Great story.
  10. Keep up the good work Phil. Whenever I can't get down to fish I look at the cams and get my Taney fix until I can get down for a visit.
  11. Hey Ken, tried to send you a pm but it would not let me doing. I will be down in Isabella for a week in July and wanted to talk to you about it. If you still have my email shoot one to me. Otherwise try a pm here or elsewhere so I can touch base.
  12. Has anybody been snagging there and how have you done and where. Planning to come down in about 3 weeks and need some info on the snagging. Any help is appreciated.
  13. Kirk, we are already here. See ya this weekend.
  14. The old tried and true air injected night crawlers always work especially after heavy rains like the other day. The trout were feasting on them. You should post fishing questions like this in the Lake Taneycomo forum below and more people will respond to it.
  15. Who all is planning on snagging next week?
  16. I started in July 1973 and the fishing was great. There were very few houses above the monkey island area. I first learned of Taneycomo watching the old Virgil Ward show in the winter of 73 and was determined to get there and fish in a non trout park setting. I boat fished part of the weekend and waded at the hatchery in shorts and tennis shoes, no waders. Could stay in the water for a few minutes and then out. I have been going there ever since and now have waders.
  17. That could actually be considered assault. I would report that dude and get him in hot water. Geez, its only fish, not worth getting hurt over.
  18. One exception to Phil's comments. We catch a ton of fish off his dock at night. You can catch them on jig and float or bait. It is a little hard to use a fly rod on the dock but it can be done. Either end of the dock is good. If you use bait there bend the barbs on your hooks for mortality reasons. Good luck.
  19. Thanks bs28. I was wondering what the daytime traffic would be like. We are there over the 4th. Most of our fishing will be early am while the party folks are recovering or at night. We'll run some jug linesd in the flats at night. With that clean water there will be plenty of action in the afternoon. Should be a good time though.
  20. hoosier, sent you a pm.
  21. Sam, I was afraid you would say that. I will post before we go and check with you guys on the current patterns for walleye and crappie. Thanks for all the info.
  22. Thanks for the info bs28. We will be at the end of HH so it sounds like we are close. We'll leave the boat in the water all week so we can come in and out when we want. I will probably post up right before we leave looking for wallyeye and crappie patterns. Is there any white bass action in that area? They seem to have disappeared from the lake.
  23. You can't set the hook on a fly rod like a bass on a baitcaster. I was always taught to secure the line in your hand or pinched to the handle and lift the rod up high. The technique has worked for me but would like to hear from some of our more knowledgable members.
  24. Nice pics guys. Boy Forsythian, if that's what it looks like i may never go home. I will put those names on my spot hit list.
  25. Thanks Ken, that would be great. Hope we see you on the 4th.
