  1. Forsythian, pm me with some of your honey holes in that area. We'll be down for the first week of July all week. How far is that from your neck of the woods? Looking forward to it. I have heard the water down there is great and fishing good. Can't wait to get there. Are you fishing the tourney on the 4th.
  2. BM, we will probably run a line of noodle jugs in the evening at the mouth of coves. Be chasing the eyes in the daytime.
  3. Thanks BM, that is the exact area we will be in. How is the catfishing there?
  4. Thanks Sam. Are there any white bass runs early and late in the day? I hope to get in to a mess of walleye. We plan to troll the area the way you suggested while at the same time running a line of noodle jugs for what ever else. Is there any time of day that is better than others?
  5. I will be staying in the Isabella area off of HH this July and wanted to get some fishing tips for the general area. We will fish for about anything including cats so any help you all have would be appreciated.
  6. We go every year in mid March and it is not crowded mid week. Friday the crowds start but Monday to Thursday it is not bad. If there is any kind of weather it holds down the crowds.
  7. I had not looked at this addictive site for a while and I shouldn't have today. I can believe the monster trout swimming in the cam. This is too much when you can't get there to fish. Nice job Phil.
  8. Drift rigs are easy enough to tie but you need to see one first. The first thing I would do if I were you, before a line ever gets wet, is stop in at Lilley's shop and get a lake map and ask them to show you where not to go. You can ruin your motor in a few minutes if you don't know where you are going. They also have everything you need to fish with at reasonable prices.
  9. These guys are from the St. Louis area. Check out their website, there are some neat video clips. http://www.aimlowproductions.com/ Both of these guys post on the old cafe and outdoormissouri.com the gar is a Texas record.
  10. This was on the cafeoutdoors site this morning: http://www.lakesunleader.com/articles/2004.../news/news2.txt
  11. When we fish down below Branson we use a lot of little cleos in different colors with success. Bait always works.
  12. You can't go very far up either creek before you run out of water. With the water low you can't go far.
  13. I am sending you a pm. look for it on your screen.
  14. Hey whatnext, when will you be at Lilley's?
  15. Hey Brian, where is a good spot to try for some of the gills? and what time of year?
  16. Sam, if you trip the dark reddish meat off big whites and hybrids they are not fishy at all. Its a lot like the dark meat on spoonies.
  17. Congratulations Phil. This is a great place for all of us to hang out and swap information and just get to know each other. Keep up the good work.

    Trout for the table

We usually fillet the trout and cook in Andy's breading. The small bones do cook up and we find very few. If we are smoking the fish we usually leave whole. Post your trout rub recipe it sounds good. We also de bone smoked trout and stir with a little salt/pepper and mayo to make a smoked fish spread.
  19. I thought so. Might stop by if I get back in town in time. How long is the program?
  20. Phil, when are you speaking at Queenie this week?
  21. I really like Boca Grande. Been Tarpon fishing there a couple of times and my biggest is a 150 caught a 3 am in the Boca Grande Pass. We always stay at the Gasparilla Inn, where do you stay? If any of you want to have a great multi species trip go there in the winter. Great weather and fishing. don't go there after June 1 or you could get hammered with a cane. Nice job on the sharks and goliath.
  22. What a hog. How far is that from Taneycomo?
  23. Thanks guys for all the info. I plan on getting out there Friday or Saturday of opening week. The meat on spoonies is good if you get the dark meat and oily layer off. Alot like hybrids. Two of them is enough vac packed fish for a year. I'll post up how we do.
  24. I am planning on coming down for the opener this year but I do not know where to put in or what methods to use. I have all the gear and have mostly snagged on the Osage and Mississippi. Any ideas would be great.
  25. I have never trapped but wondered what you guys do with the meat. My buddies dad used to trap and they always ate the coon. roasted or in a stew. It was pretty good.
