  1. That is a meal-
  2. ANd it has started: my chili has been referred to as more like a chili stew. I can live with that. 🙂
  3. Yup--this is what I do and the zero turm makes quick work of it. We have 5 pecans and those leaves really get brittle and mulch to dust--the oak and walnut notsomuch.
  4. I used to quip thus--spray some endust on 'em and let 'em loose.
  5. Meat is thawing, so it will be a while longer before the fun starts. Its a long process fine-tuned over decades--in the early stages a sliderule was employed, which became 'seat of the pants'.
  6. Hmmmm? I think I like the idea of the sweet sausage. Need to think about that. My wife puts it in her Ziti.
  7. It had to be said!
  8. I have the same issue with my wife and have to balance the heat carefully. This one will have both steak and ground beef, 3 kinds of beans, appropriate peppers and onions and a secret ingredient shared with my many years ago by a sweet old lady. My Texas buddies give me grief over my chili because I include beans---LOL. What do they know?
  9. Looks like a rain day and the wife says its time for me to make my world famous chili! Pictures will be presented.
  10. I tried to send a PM and it says you cannot receive messages.
  11. Thank you...I am assuming you mean rt10 just east of Miami.
  12. Ollie--I sure appreciate your generous offer. I suspect I will try to get over that way in the next month or so. I just did some google work on the Spring and had no idea that so much water around these parts are fed by springs. is there wadeable water? It appears so, as it starts out smaller water near Verona and onward. There is a crazy amount of flow by the time it gets toward the twin bridges. When you guys speak of the white bass run, are you meaning in those areas at the confluence or in the case of the Elk where it runs into the Lake? I have much to learn about the area for sure. LOL I much prefer wading and am not a boat guy--other than floating trout waters west and east.
  13. Agreed--I did catch one and spooked a few. The water was crazy low last month. Finally raining here today and tomorrow, so I will return.
  14. Thank you. I will have to research best access.
  15. Thank you good sir. Another note. I just read their are trout in Hickory Creek somewhere near Neosho. Is this accurate?
  16. So much for my adventure of catching a rare strain of rainbows...y'all have crushed me.
  17. Ollie--are you meaning in the Lake?
  18. I have had some fun on Spavinaw Creek...I much prefer moving water and ponds, but not much of a big lake guy. I may change that. I was thinking the other day of walking through the woods behind the house and throwing some flies into the Grand and see what happens.
  19. Thanks--I will look those up. I know the Illinois, Elk and White, but not the others.
  20. Thanks fellas---I admit to have been in a bit of a life funk dealing with stuff, but I am back in the swing and looking forward to exploring more waters. Last week, I took delivery of a custom JP Ross 6'6" 3 wt. S-Glass rod that will see time especially on those spring creeks and close by warm creeks. Nothing like a new special purpose rig to get the juices flowing. 🙂
  21. Gorgeous fish!
  22. Yup---I understand there is wadeable water there. Some tips may be needed. I am thinking maybe this winter or spring. We are leaving for the Lower Mountain Fork early morning as we rented a cabin for 4 days. This will be a first. BTW--we go over to Blowing Springs to hike regularly. Its ours and our dog Max's favorite spot. LOL
  23. Cool! One of my hobbies is smoking on the Webber Smokey Mountain and an Oklahoma Joe offset. Smoked up a poor man's brisket a couple weeks ago---Chuck roast. The wife said it was better than my last brisket.
  24. Thank you.
  25. Hey folks--I just found this forum and joined up. I am flyfishing upland hunter from NH. My wife and I migrated west to take care of her mom when her Dad passed on. That was 5 years ago. I recently heard about the 9 Blue Ribbon streams in Missouri and few weeks ago drove over there with the wife and dog to have a look and explore access and such. The water was crazy low. I did get to fish for an hour or so and brought in one of those beauties and spooked a few. I will go back when the water comes up some. I look forward to the White at some time.
