  1. They were closing the park since they didn't have power.. We cancelled our trip for mothers day as we were staying in a cabin. Dont know if it actually closed, or if power has been restored.
  2. That is awesome!! Congrats
  3. Just got a call that they are closing the park. No power in the park, and they anticipate flooding as Salem got his pretty hard.
  4. I am not familiar with what the temps should be, but what temp am I looking for when the females move up?
  5. I fished a creek that connects to the Mississippi near the Cuiver and started catching small male White Bass the last few days.. All males.. and all small. I cleaned a few last night and there stomachs were absolutely empty. Any idea what stage of spawning these could be in.. I suspect it was a little early and these are the first males coming up?
  6. Thanks. Looks like there might be some weather moving in tomorrow. Hopefully the water doesn't come up..
  7. We will be heading down this weekend. Anyone been fishing the park lately?
  8. That is awesome!! Never even seen one in Missouri, which makes sense.
  9. Morels in Brandy Cream on Toast 5 Tablespoons unsalted butter ½ pound fresh morels 1 ½ Tablespoon minced shallots 5 Tablespoons brandy 1 Cup whipping cream salt 8 toast points or French bread Melt the butter in medium skillet over medium heat. Add the morels and sauté. Stir in the shallots and head through. Add the brandy and cook until reduced to syrup. Add the cream and simmer until the liquid has reduced to a heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper.
  10. Any fishing reports from recent trips??
  11. The last time I was down in January for C&R, there were an unusually high number of browns in the water.. Only saw one "big" fish but lost of 15" fish.. nice difference.
  12. I too have been listening to Kelly Galloup and have tied up some of his patterns as well. I have not caught anything in only one attempt to the Current using some of his methods but I plan to incorporate this when I make my fall trip to Tanneycomo.
  13. That is great!
  14. Hope you are having a great time.. Can't imagine you wouldn't... I had no idea Costa Rica had rainbow trout.. Are they native?
  15. I can't wait for these to pop.. Last year was a great year around St. Louis and we should still be about 2 or so weeks out.. 2 years ago was an earlier year, then we got a big freeze around the first of April that stunted them a bit.
  16. Registered too.. I like the Missouri and Mississippi rivers listed.. can't wait till its up and complete.
  17. I am starting a new garden as we moved into the new house late last summer. I have some plastic down now in an effort to kill the grass and plan to get it tilled this weekend. So I am a little behind for the lettuce and spinich but it will be in shortly.
  18. Thanks for the responses. I saw that OzarkCanoe.com has a few of these for a little over $600 and that seemed very reasonable since I can't locate any others in Missouri. I will keep looking in St. Louis and pick one up at OzarkCanoe later this summer when I am down that way if I can't locate one..
  19. I have been looking into getting a Kayak and really like the looks of the Old Towne K111, however I am unable to locate one in St. Louis. Has anyone used one of these and if so, how is it? I plan to fish small lakes and ponds, as well as do some duck hunting on creeks and flooded fields.
  20. The Mississippi and Missouri rivers in general..
  21. From the shore, good.. We have been running the same set ups for the last 10 years or so... We use 10 and 12 foot Ugly Stick ocean rods and large Penn spinning reels..This combo is stout and works well for river bank fishing... We have broke several Ugly Sticks over the years but they will replace them with a receipt for the cost of shipping.
  22. Wow!! That is amazing.. just glad no one was hurt...
  23. Anything bright, or white and heavy to get down to the fish fast.. What do you normally use at Montauk..
  24. Are you planning to snag from a boat on lakes or in rivers, or from the shore.
