  1. I know people put old trees in the water for crappie but is this some new Taney trout habitat?
  2. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I have been looking at buying that camera myself and just haven't pulled the trigger yet. If you go to Amazon and look up that camera and then check customer reviews there is on that kind of explains some things with the video. What I got out of it is in order to get more than 10 seconds of video at 30 fps you have to have a "M+" card not the standard "M" card. I think once you get the M+ card you can put on as much as the GB rating of the card. Don't take that as gospel because I am far from an expert on these things. Let me know how you like the camera. I like the waterproof, drop, and freeze ratings of the camera. Tim Brinkley
  4. That's funny sh*t there. (no pun intended)
  5. Just a quick question. How far down from Baptist can you wade before you get into water that is to deep to wade through?
  6. The size was a #10 not #6 half asleep when I wrote that. Tim
  7. They were a size 6. The yellow one looked very similar to a crackleback with rubber legs and the black one looked like it was wrapped with black and copper chenille with copper colored rubber legs. I got them at Hargroves.
  8. Yesterday was my first trip to the Current River. I got down there at around 6:30 and was on ther water at 6:45. I started at Baptist and went downstream. I have read articles that the insect hatches were down so far this year, but not that morning there were millions of small 18-22 black bugs with white wings and a white striped abdomen. I got to watch one "hatch" on my flyrod. It started with its wings kind of folded back and then it unfolded them and let them dry. I caught one dink brown on a cream midge and one bluegill on a crackleback. I didn't get to far down around 9:00 the aluminum hatch was on. After the canoes started coming through I headed upstream from Baptist. It was a pretty slow morning I tried a bunch of different flies but at around 11:00 I finally found what they wanted: stonefly imitations. They were really biting on a yellow stonefly imitation and then the tree trout claimed my only two that I had so I put on a black one and they tore that one up even better. There is a bunch of skinny water right above Baptist but I managed to pull one out of the shallow water. It wasn't until I got up closer to TanVat that I hit a couple of real nice spots. I caught somewhere around7-8 fish here all around 15" and full of color and fat. While playing one in some faster water I thought I noticed a big clump of moss hanging off of him and I thought that is strange I didn't see any moss around where he was and then the moss moved the other way and upstream and I said that's not moss and then it came back chasing the rainbow and it was a brown several inches bigger than the bow. I released the bow and watched the brown go to the bottom so I thought here we go, wouldn't it just be awesome to tussle with him next. As luck would have it here comes a family on tubes through the spot and away he went. I didn't even get to cast to him. Oh well I had a blast either way. I caught one more 10" bow back to the truck right at Baptist. I can't wait to explore downstream from Baptist after float season.

    Bbq Sauce

We're a Super Smoker family. They have at least 4 different flavors I think they are a sweet, kc, carolina, and a spicy kind. They may be hard to find outside of the STL area..
  10. So that's what you look like Jerry. We had so many layers of clothes on that day last winter it was kind of hard to tell. Hopefully I can make the next one and meet some more of you guys. Did you see any scuba divers by the spring this time? haha.
  11. I was just out there a couple of weeks ago and I think the grand total was $5.30 to rent a boat.Yeah they hold your license until you return the key.
  12. Very nice. Hopefully that will be me in the front of that drift boat this Fall. I'm trying to decide on when exactly I will come down. I'm looking at September or October. Keep the pics and videos coming. That looks like a beautiful area.
  13. Yep they are still swimming around in his pond. I grew up fishing farm ponds as a kid growing up in rural Northern MO " like there's an urban Northern MO ha-ha" so it was kind of like stepping back 25 years.
  14. A co-worker of mine was nice enough to let me bring my son out to his pond and do a little fishing. The catfish was a little much for his ultralight rod and reel but we finally got it landed. Just really wanted to share some pics. I hope I did it right.
  15. I"ll fish for anything that will eat a fly. I'm sure I would do alot better with my spinning and baitcasting rod and reels but I just love catching fish on my flyrod.
  16. I went out and fished lake 28 from about 4:30 until 9:00 on Tuesday night after work. It was pretty slow caught one bass on a deep clouser minnow and one on a Dahlbergh diver. I was suprised there was no topwater bite at all at dusk. I also caught on 6" bluegill on a foam spider. I never really do very good when I go out there, but it is a good place to go for a quick fishing fix after work.
  17. Works now . Thank you.
  18. Same here.

    Chiefs

Hey cheer up, you could be here in St. Louis and have to watch the Rams.
  20. I'm jealous. I was trying to make time last Fall for a trip but it never happened. The river looks pretty awesome. I really like the picture of the fire, tent, and canoe on the river bank. I can just picture myself there. Hopefully this Fall I can make the trip, it will be my first to the Jacks Fork.
  21. That is one sweet looking boat. Anybody have $25,000 that they want to give me? haha
  22. Call me dumb, but are those guys fishing a ditch?
  23. Talk about kicking someone when they're down. People like that make me sick. When I see something like that my first thoughts are, I wish I could help, not I wonder what I can steal. Good luck and stay dry.
  24. I was watching National Geographic Channel tonight and they had a show about this fish. I have never heard of it but apparently it is from Asia. Somebody caught one out of a pond in Maryland and took a picture and gave it to the conservation dept. and they sent the pic to some biologist in Florida who identified it as a snakehead fish which is a very invasive species. They can live out of the water for up to three days and have a nasty set of teeth. They were asking anybody who caught them to "bleed them out" because you can't just throw them on the bank to die, they will just wiggle back into the water over time. They said they spread into the Potomac. They also found them in California and I'm sure other places as well. In 2002 Congress passed a law making it illegal to bring into the country and transport. I guess people were releasing them after they were done with them in their aquariums. there were 2 kinds the Northern Snakehead and the Gigantic Snakehead which I believed they said can get up to 5' in length. This may have been an old rerun, but it is the first time I have saw the show or even heard about the fish and outbreak. The show kind of sensationalized the outbreak with ominous music and stuff like that but I thought it was very interesting. Has anybody else ever seen it or heard of the fish? Tim
