  1. I can vouch for ROLF it is a great place to stay. You won't find nicer people than the Mckee's. The water is really good on ROLF also. Just be careful because there are some big rocks on the other side of the falls that are really slick..don't ask how I know this. haha
  2. I'm planning on bringing the family down for the conclave for the first time in October. How do you think this will effect the youth fish on Saturday? I took my son there several weeks ago and we both had a blast. Thanks Tim
  3. Nice smallie.
  4. Hope somebody can help out here. My buddy and I are looking to go fly fishing this Saturday and we've never been to Little Piney. I have a few questions: 1. Is there enough water for 2 people to fish at the same time? 2. Where are some good access points for wade fishing? 3. Are there any go to flys for the stream? 4. Are there lots of wade access so not to trespass on anyone's land. 5. Is a 9' rod to much for the stream? 6. Does the stream get crowded on the weekend? Thanks, Tim
  5. I took my son down for our first time. What a great place this is. He had a blast and I think it created a future fly fisher. We loved it in Mt. Home and now he want's to come down for the Conclave and this time we're bring my wife and my little girl. This was one of the most memorable fishing trips, and I never even fished. Here's some pics.
  6. Can you cut it down to 7'6". I'm looking for that. I have the 9' 6 weight rod a really like it. I'm sure it won't take you long to sell it.
  7. Here are 2. http://www.feather-craft.com/wecs.php?stor...&target=301
  8. Hopefully not in 2 weeks. That's when I'm bringing my son down .
  9. Can anyone tell me about the construction on Dry Run Creek. Is it over? Has it effected the fishing? I'm planning on taking my son on his first fishing trip in a couple of weeks. What are the staple flies down there. Tim

    Stonefly's

Here's one that is deadly from Brian Wise's page. http://flyfishingtheozarks.com/blog/?page_id=42. I need more practice on it. I can't get the legs right but I'm a novice at fly tying. There is another on called the CR Gold which is also good. I don't know of a recipe page but if you're close to STL Hargroves has both. Hope this helps.
  11. I was down there a couple of Sundays ago and the san juan worm was knocking them dead. Besides one fish on a psycho prince all others were on the worm.
  12. Anybody have a pic or description of a gurgle pop?
  13. Sounds like a great week.
  14. I was there last Sunday and did pretty well. The usual like rubber legged stones were a dud for the first time ever. The hot "fly" was a red san juan worm. I caught 17 total and all but one was on the san juan worm. The other was on a psycho prince. The water was perfect last week I hope it stays the same for you. Good luck. Tim
  15. Cool pics.
  16. I want to take my son down to Dry Run Creek and I need to know where some lodging is at that's close. It looks like Mt. Home is close and I also would like to know what there's to do in the area for an 8 yr old boy if he gets tired of fishing (god forbid). Thanks, Tim
  17. Anybody had past experience with buying their kids first fly rod? I'm assuming a good medium action, 7"6" - 8' 4 or 5 weight rod would be good but not sure. The shortest rod I have is a 8'6" 5/6 weight and he has trouble handling it. Any pointers from past experience would be appreciated.
  18. Here's my 2 cents. I used to use cheap ones but I lost them or they broke all the time. I broke down a couple of years ago and bought a pair of Oakleys and I will never go back to the cheap ones. Since I spent a good chunk of change on them I know where there at all the time. With cheap ones I would set them down wherever and lose about 2 pair a year and break another pair( 3 pairs a year x $20=$60 x 3 years= $180) I paid $150 for the Oakleys and still have them. On the water it's not even close. The clarity is 10X better, the eye strain is reduced if not eliminated. My next investment is a pair that changes with the light conditions.

    Firefox

I switched my browser to Firefox this weekend and wow what a difference. I have had the computer on all day and not one crash or slow down. 1 or 2 hours with IE and it would have crashed. So far I love it. Tim
  20. I have to log on each time I get on here now. Haven't been cut off though.
  21. That is why I stay away frome the trout parks. I go only about once a year during the C&R season and it has to be a miserably cold day to weed out the idiots. I went last January when it was 4 degrees out cold as hell but only about a dozen fisherman in the whole park! I'ts a shame because my boy is going to be 8 in January and I would love to take him to Bennett or Montauk but I just don't know if I can put up with the crowds and idiots. My rant is over and yes I approve this message.
  22. Sweet!!!
