  1. Nice site. I spent about an hour looking it over. I hope to make my first trip to Taney some time soon. Now I know where I can stay.
  2. I was just wondering if you had to have a trout stamp to fish for trout on the Current River or any river for that matter if you were just catching and releasing.
  3. I am thinking about starting to try my hand at fly tying. Are there any videos out there that are suited for the beginning fly tyer. I have found a few books, but I learn better by seeing it done. I hope to take a few classes at Feather-Craft this winter but between my wifes work schedule and my sons sports I don't know If I will be able to attend many.
  4. I am going to go fish a small lake that has some smallmouth in it and I've never targeted smallmouth before. Is there any " don't leave home without them flies" that work in lakes? I have some wooly buggers, Clouser minnows, and a sneaky pete. I also picked up a Puglisi baitfish. I don't know if it will work for smallmouth but it sure looked puurrty.
  5. Just saw one on the side of my house this evening. Good thing my wife didn't see it, everybody in the midwest would of heard her scream.haha They sure are ugly suckers.

    Cards win

Cards beat the Brewers tonight. Bad division and they're getting hot towards the end of the season the might make the playoffs. 4.5 games back.
  7. My wife and kids gave me a gift certificate to Westover Farms for Fathers Day, and I was wondering has anybody been there or heard anything about it. I have never been to a private or pay trout stream before so I really don't know what to expect.
  8. I lived in Colorado Spring for about 7 years and there are quite a few places to fish. Just like the previous posts Spinney, Elevenmile, and the South Platte are all good bets. Here are some more lakes and rivers within a 30 minute drive. Just west of where you will be staying is a place called Tarryall Resevoir and Tarryall creek (if going West turn right just past Saint George).I always had good luck this time of the year in the west end of the lake, this the shallow end and allows for some wading if you don't have a float tube. I caught alot of fish out of here a couple rainbows and one brown were 3lbs.+.I didn't fish Tarryall creek that much but I heard it was real good. It's a small meadow like creek. Watch out for trespassing signs because alot of it is private. Another good spot is Antero Resevoir it is just west of you past Hartsel. There are some real hogs in there! As for flies all I can say is HALFBACKS!!! Sizes 8 to 14. They work really well there in the resevoirs, I hardly ever had to change flies. I hope this helps some.
  9. Thanks for the info. I found a website that had the ultimate 12 for $775. I seen the one on Orvis listed at $1600. The first must get you with shipping charges to make up the difference or something. If it's $1600 thats's way more than I want to spend. I looked at the tarpon it looked allright. I am going to try to look at some at the store tomorrow. Thanks again for the info.
  10. I was wondering if anybody owns or has owned a Native Watercraft kayak? From their website they look pretty nice. I live in Saint Louis and haven't been able to find a dealer. I emailed them today for dealer info so hope there is one around so I can check them out. Any info would be appreciated.
  11. Can anyone tell me how accessible the river is to wading between Browns Ford and the confluence with the Meramec.
  12. My float tube recently had to be retired and I am going to be needing another mode of floatation. Does anybody own a kayak that they fish out of. If so ,how do you like it? I always thought they were easy to roll but I never have had one so I could be totally wrong. Any brands and features for a fishing kayak would be appreciated.
  13. Thanks for the invite everybody. By the way Mikey I don't think you would want anything tied by me, it would look like something a cat coughed up
  14. What a website. This is one of the best fishing sites I have found. Having moved to this area in the last couple of years I'm always looking for info on fishing and I think I found it. Anybody have a favorite flyfishing shop in Saint Louis?
