  1. I hope you don't get in trouble. I don't care, but others might. Cool story though. My friend swore he saw one really big alligator snapper last year in Swan Creek, but I had doubts. Maybe he was right.
  2. I started out with one, but they tore it up fighting over it before I could hook one and get it in.
  3. Me and my son went down there this Sunday evening with the family. We didn't expect to much action, but ended up with 6 whites in 45 minutes before we had to leave. Lots of people fishing and looked like most people at least had a few. We fished from 7:45 till 8:30 and were using purple swimming minnows on a 1/16 ounce jig.
  4. Three of us went up there last night. Everybody was catching a few it seemed and there were lots of people. It's my first time ever fishing up there. Spots were tough to find but we finally found a spot to stand. A few people across the river were killing them in a little hole for a while until they left right about dark, so I went over there and ended up catching 6 whites and a crappie, then they got kinda slow after dark. Lots of small males being caught, I only caught 1 sow.
  5. That was it! It had styrofoam inside of it when I seen it, but it wasn't floating anymore. It was sunk pretty much and drug up by the ramp. I hope them guys aren't floating down the lake somewhere. They probably just left it for someone else do deal with, but ya never know.
  6. With all this warm weather we've had this winter and this super warm week now, I think it's got "people" in the mood to fish, but the fish know when it's time to come up and they will probably start picking up here pretty soon.
  7. Nobody knew where it came from. I was guessing up Swan possibly because it couldn't have come over the dam at Powersite without water coming over the top. They said they saw it at the last second and didn't see anybody in it. I saw something large floating when I came up the lake between the Barker hole and the bridge, but couldn't tell what it was, now I know.
  8. Me, my son and a buddy went fishing yesterday. We put in at River Run about 11 and fished almost down to Beaver creek and back. We ended up with 3 whites 2 crappie and 1 walleye. Had about 10 shorts of bass and walleye. We got back to River Run about 9ish and the cops were all over. A boat had demolished another boat after dark right there by Swan or the ramp. Part of it was at the ramp when we got in. We were told the boat was empty and possibly abandoned when it got run over, but I'm sure they were pretty shook up about it. Luckily they were in a very large aluminum boat and had no damaged that I could see.
  9. Wow thanks for the report, that's a shame about that walleye. Maybe I will catch it now, lol. The morel mushrooms are gonna be out in force too soon with all this warm weather. Thanks.
  10. People with attitudes like the one who started this topic make me want to puke, it's seriously gut wrenching to read these posts. It's all about what "I" care about and if you don't agree, you're a barbarian who's poor and should not have a right to be fishing or hunting or whatever it is you like to do. Instead of eating the fish, "which is food" , you're supposed to worship it like it's your child. This makes me want to keep every bass I catch now, even though I'd rather eat walleye or crappie. Ignorance like this is what makes a black eye on fishing, not gigging. And I have never gigged 1 fish.
  11. Thanks for the report.
  12. The white bass were being caught just below the Barker Hole from what I was told which is very hard to get to when fishing by the bank. I wouldn't even know how to tell you to get there, as I'm not real familiar with names of roads and such in that area. The Pothole is the spot just below Powersite dam.
  13. I went down to the Barker hole today and didn't see much caught. I talked to a lady who said she caught 2 yellow perch using worms, which I thought was interesting. Talked to a freind who was down below Barker Hole and he said the whites were being caught consistently down that way. I made my way up to the dam about 6:30 and fished till almost 8:00. I caught 1 short walleye and missed another. A guy next to me caught 1 short and 1 legal walleye and had a couple more hits. I gotta give the guy a big thank you though. He gave me his 20inch walleye before leaving, which was a blessing. I never had anybody offer up a walleye before. The water had no current, but it did rise a little for about an hour, after that it dropped and the moon came out and the bite died of course.
  14. I am in the market for a stick steering boat. I want aluminum as I plan on banking the boat on the bank often and don't want it easily damaged. I would like to have a livewell, with trolling motor. If anyone knows of a boat like this around please let me know. I check Craigslist often so I have that covered, just looking for someone who might know where a boat like this is sitting around. Thanks.

    Paddlefish

Very interesting. Me and a friend was trolling by the bridge below Swan Creek 2 yrs ago for walleye and white bass. Well after a 30 min fight on 6 lb test we landed a paddlefish. Probably about the same size as that one. I was told they are illegal to keep in Missouri on Bull Shoals though. We released it.
  16. There have been a few walleye biting, but it hasnt been too hot really. I did see someone fishing off the bank that had 4 whitebass on a stringer though on Sunday between Swan and the Dam.
  17. After about 9:00 pretty much everybody is gone, by midnight, you'd probly be the only one there.
  18. Boy if that's true, it's gonna make a crowded situation like before become even more of a nightmare with it being elbow to elbow already
  19. thanks.
  20. Were you fishing off the bank or out of a boat?
  21. I can never pull myself away from the fishing to join the fire, I'm always thinking I will miss a bite, lol. It is a good idea though.
  22. Emjay I don't have to imagine. I've been there too many times in the same situation, not getting a bite even. At least you got some fish caught. I was gonna go tonight with the snow on the ground, would of made for a good picture if they were biting, but had to get tax returns done, maybe next time.
  23. Not me, Friday would of been a brutal night to be out fishing, with the wind and the temp falling.
  24. I got down there last night about 8 or 8:30 and was at the tail end of it seemed. I seen 2 caught by a friend who was with me, but I had no bites. I seen a couple leave with fish on their stringers though. It might have been you Leonard.
  25. thanks for the report
