  1. Where are you located? Thanks.
  2. All right all you Warsaw veterans. My grandpa is wanting me to take him up within the next week or 2 and I'm needing a report or 2. We'll be going after whites and crappie if they're there. Slider, Tightline, etc.... let me know what's going on because it's been at least a month since I've been. Thanks for the help. Patrick
  3. It's working for me too now, thanks.
  4. I went last night to see what was going on. There was not much room to fish. There were about 7 people there fishing last night. I seen 3 crappie, 2 white bass and 2 walleye caught between all 7 in 3 1/2 hours of fishing. It was pretty slow, but there's a few to catch. Good luck if you go.
  5. I had fun as well as you guys and really enjoyed the company. Nice to meet everyone. As far as me putting fish on the bank, that's an overstatement. All it would of took was a blind man pointed in the correct direction to catch those fish. So anybody who thinks they can't figure out the " Secret" just needs to be there at the right time to catch fish. I weighed mine on the bathroom scales and they were from 4-6 on my scale too. But by golly do they fight like monsters. What a blast it was. I think with a little luck, someone could have walked across the water on top of the fish it seemed. Once again it was good to have you guys to fish with and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later till we go again.
  6. I usually use a white slider with a pink jig until the sun goes down over the dam, then I switch to either a purple beetle, or the last time we used a blue body, white tail crappie tube, you know, the little tiny tubes. I tied 2 of those on and they worked great for a little while.
  7. Me and my son went fishing yesterday evening for a few hours. The crappie were biting half way descent for the first couple hours and then all the sudden they just went wild. I ended up with a limit of 10+ inch crappie and 2 whites and my son had 7 crappie. For about 1/2 hour I had the most fun up there that I've had for a while. The only problem was all the people, of course.
  8. That's exactly what I've thought on the fishing also. I couldn't even get a bite hardly with anything smaller than a slider. I caught 11 big crappie, and 1 white up there a couple days ago and they were all before dark, with a bright bait. I just bought a package of mirror image darting shad that look really reflective so I'm looking forward to trying those. I also found that the slower the water was better for me. I ended up going way below the handicap dock. I'm gonna try to go tomorrow and I'm gonna try to get there earlier than usual so I have more daylight, instead of darkness to fish. Thanks for the report.
  9. Thanks for the report. It's nice to have someone else make a report. Me and my son went up Friday night and caught 6 real small whites and a LM was all. It was incredibly windy and pretty cold also. I wish the water would clear up some.
  10. No, not the South side, but the way the current comes out of the dam, I imagine it was really swift on that side.
  11. Hey Jack, I used a variety of different soft baits. The best was a white slider though. And yes I used a purple beetle too, lol. Don't tell everyone the secret fish catching lure or they'll all be gone by tomorrow, lol. I fished off the bank. Although I'd like to try a boat sometime for something different. I threw a topwater plug also with no luck, I think the water was too dirty. Good luck.
  12. Me and my son went up to fish last night. He's 8. We fished from 6:30 - 8:50. As soon as I was within sight of the bottom below the dam all I could see was cars. It was about as busy as i've ever seen. I knew it had to be good fishing. Well between the 2 of us we had 2 walleye and 7 whites, with 1 descent hybrid. I only seen 1 crappie caught and it was too short. The water isn't a very good color IMO. It still had a muddy look to it and has lots of current with pretty big waves out in the channel. It defintely wasn't the best trip ever, but I did get a bowl full of fillets. I just wish I could afford to drive up there everyday.
  13. I talked to the local Game Warden about snagging spoonbill after the limit has been reached. He said that legally you can still snag after you've reached your limit of 2, although it is in a way unethical to some do degree was what he told me.
  14. How long are the Discovery 169 canoes? I'm looking for a Discovery 179, but if yours are long enough I'd get one. Thanks.
  15. That house in the first picture sure looks close to the water!!
  16. Hey Gonefishin, Whats wrong with that, is the people who are against gigging have no interest in it. Therefore they don't care about it. So because I don't do, I think nobody should. It's pretty narrow minded in my opinion. I face the same situation as some of the giggers in my sport, trapping. There are lots of people who have never done it, but still they think they Know All and are against it, even when they don't know squat and never been on a trapline and have no idea about what they're talking about. Why people want to take more privelages away from the outdoors is beyond me. Sometimes I think(know) these people want to take something away just to cause controversy and conflict with others. Let's take away bass fishing I say, I see less bass than I do suckers when I float the river, therefore they're more endangered and need protected. I bet that would cause some crying. I've personally never gigged before, but I would like to try it. It sounds like fun.
  17. After a rough night fishing last night somewhere else I decided to try the lower James since I hadn't heard any reports. I fished for about 5 minutes in one spot and tried the last cast before I move routine. On that cast I caught a nice 22inch walleye. So I had to stay after that of course. Within the hour I had caught 4 more white bass and lost another walleye and a white. So all in all it was a nice surprise. The water was still a little stained, but fishable for sure.
  18. Hey Zander, I was hoping for my limit of 11-13 inch crappie, along with some 4-10 pound walleyes, and some hybrids thrown in the mix, lol. I caught 1 white bass about a pound. The only other fish I seen was a crappie and another white bass. And there were quite a few people there compared to what was being caught. I was on the North side of the tailrace. Hope this helps somewhat. Patrick
  19. Hey Brian, I've caught about half a dozen or so white bass about 6 inches long up around the 160 bridge on the James. So some do make it up there to spawn sometimes. It sure seems strange though. Now walleye is more of a surprise to me than the whites. I never would of figured 5 in a year being caught at the dam, let alone all in 1 night. I'd a been ecstatic about that.
  20. Well after debating on where to go all day I decided to go to Warsaw. After the report Jenny left I had high hopes of at least a descent night of fishing. After 207 miles, 24 dollars in gas, and 3 1/2 hours of driving I had 1 fish for my efforts, lol. I guess since the last report up there the water has turned muddy in the tailwater. I did have 2 other bites so my 1 fish wasn't a complete fluke. If someone happens to go up there and sees the water isn't muddy, I'd appreciate a heads up. Patrick
  21. Yeah, I was down at Powersite last night and the water is very high, full of debris, and muddy. So good luck.
  22. I fished Swan Creek tonight, with a few others people around, probably 10 others fishing where I was. I left with 11 whites a little before 9 tonight. All were males. I've heard Beaver Creek is better though. Maybe I'll try there tomorrow.
  23. As everyone already knows all metal prices are high high. It's Possible that Bass Pro is just the first to raise their prices with the inflation of metal and all others will probably be raising their prices soon. It sounds like a good time to stock up while prices are cheap at some of the places.
  24. The MDC was up at the Pothole last night shocking fish. I sat there for a couple minutes watching( was hoping to fish) and they shocked what looked like a quite a few in a short time. There were 2 boats, both looked to be shocking fish. So I went down to Swan and fished for about an hour and never had a bite. I'd try Beaver Creek if I was you guys.
