  1. Anyone know where I can get the predicted generation schedule for Beaver? I used to check a website and call and listen to a recording, but neither of those have been successful for me lately. The recording says that data is unavailable for Beaver, and the website has consistently been a week behind.... Tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, tx
  2. A fine brew to match some beautiful fish...great video! I will be trying to make a trip out your way at least once this year.
  3. Echoing prc's question. I am in the market and curious if I could see these before I buy one or if there is any kind of warranty on the craftsmanship. Also, I got a FishPond hydration bladder for Christmas (don't have dimensions off-hand, but I think it is 3L) and I am curious if it would fit in the sleeve on the backpack/chestpack combo. thanks, tx
  4. Just curious, is that in OK or AR? I have actually talked with the guys that run the club on Spavinaw and I think they have about six miles of it (if I remember right); I know that it starts in AR somewhere, but I am not sure if it ends at the state line or goes further on to OK. Either way, you are a lucky man to have access to that stream...there are some REALLY nice fish in there.
  5. Thanks for the tips guys! Ended up checking out the link that tippet7 put up and they had 7/8 weight reels that looked to be pretty good (only downside was that they were a bit heavier than the Konic). The real kicker was that they had the reel on clearance for $50 so with shipping and everything I got the reel for about half the cost of the Konic. So I decided to take the chance based on tippet7's recommendation. I will let you all know how it works out. Thanks again, tx
  6. I am looking to pick up an 8 weight reel that could double for saltwater and fresh; it will be used primarily in freshwater for various types of bass fishing (striper, white bass, largemouth, etc), but it may see inshore saltwater fishing 1-2 times a year for speckled trout, redfish, flounder and other inshore species. Really don't want to spend more than $250. I have been looking at the Hardy/Greys GRXi (which comes standard with THREE spare spools) and it looks like it might be a good deal. Anyone have any experience with these? I would love to hear of any reels that you all might recommend for the conditions given above. Thanks, tx
  7. Anyone have anything to say about the Simms Blackfoot Stockingfoot waders? Looks like they could be a good value...
  8. Check multiple times a week!
  9. Ahhh, thanks for the information. I apparently was looking in the wrong section...it seems that these two overlap a bit.
  10. Has anyone on here had any experience with the William Joseph Dry-namic waders? I have searched around on this forum and around the web, but haven't found much in the way of reviews from "the average man". The write up on them from Willy J. sounds great (of course), but I was wanting to hear about some real world experiences...thinking this might be my big Christmas gift this year Thanks, tx
  11. Thanks Tim. Neches, Grew up in the Houston area and spent a lot of time spin casting on the flats around Galveston. Moved to Arkansas for college, started fly fishing, and never went back...are you from Texas?
  12. Is the park only open from 8am-4pm, Fri-Sun for all of the catch and release season? I think that is the way that it used to be, but I figured I would check and see if that had changed at all. thanks tx

  14. Thanks for the tips guys. I will be using the fly rod if I make it out there. Probably throwing sink tip with some big ugly bass flies
  15. I have never been out to the Kings River, but it looks like we have a beautiful weekend ahead and I thought I might try and get out there for the first time. Are there good stretches of water for wading or do you need a kayak/canoe? I will be headed that way from the Springdale area in Arkansas. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks, tx
  16. Does this club still meet? I am in the Siloam Springs area and would like to try and catch a meeting or a trip with you guys sometime.
  17. Thinking about heading down tomorrow. Have conditions changed since last weekend? Water was up and a bit murky last weekend...I imagine it has probably dropped a bit closer to normal levels, but maybe the rain Wednesday and Thursday has had more effect than I would have guessed. Anyone else headed out there this weekend? thanks, tx
  18. Fished Zone 2 Saturday and did alright. 10-15 fish in about a 7 hour period of time. Would have had several more if I could set a hook. Orange san juan worms with some shot fished deep under an indicator were the ticket.
  19. Yeah, 100 bucks is pretty steep. That is why I wanted to check and see how it held up for some of these guys after repeated use. Until I hear about that, I probably won't be running out the door to pick up a spool.
  20. Thanks for the update fly-guy. I figured the water would be murky, but I believe I can handle that with flies that are more the attention getting type (bigger or brighter) and either sink tip line or a lot of shot with the fast current. Glad to hear that you had a productive day out there. I will be there Saturday morning if anyone wants to say howdy. thanks, tx
  21. Hoping to head up there either tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning? How is the river with all of the rain that has rolled through the last couple of weeks? thanks, tx
  22. Thanks for the update. How is the water clarity? I am thinking about taking my kayak down and hitting them with sink tip and streamers this weekend...
  23. You guys that bought the sharkskin line, how do you like it now that you have used it for a while? Does it retain its good qualities after the abuse of being on the water for a lot of hours? I have been thinking about getting some, but I have read a lot of mixed reviews on how it holds up... thanks tx
  24. Does anyone ever fish for striper and or hybrid in the tailwater? I knew that people did it down the white river a ways near goshen but on my last trip out to the tailwaters below the dam I saw what looked to be the carcasses of several large hybrid or striper...I guess it could be that someone just dumped them there after cleaning, but it sure seems more likely that they were caught out there to me. Anyways, just something that peaked my interest so I thought I would ask around. Thanks, tx
  25. I have been over to the White and Norfork. It is a 2-2.5 hour drive for me so I was just thinking that if I could find something a little closer for quick trips it would be really nice. Beaver and Roaring are the closest public access places that I can get to for trout and they take 1-1.5 hours for me to get to. Anyways, thanks for the heads up. tx
