Prop question. Hull crack?
taxidermist replied to taxidermist's topic in General Angling Discussion Archives
Thanks that helps, it is impact from banging the boat dock. I have a friend thats a welder so next week I will see him. Thanks for the prop advice, that is pretty much what I was thinking, SS being heavier. Seems the Aluminum boat should beat 43 mph, as I have a 14 (Ski King) fiberglass ski boat with a 50 Evinrude that will do almost that, using a GPS for accurate mph. -
I have a 2002 Lowe 170, V bottom aluminum boat, 2000 year model 90HP Johnson. The motor has the stock aluminum prop 3 blade. Boat runs 43mph top end at 4500 rpm. Would a stainless steel prop get me any additonal top end speed? Boat is a gift from wifes Dad, has 3 hours on it on its 2nd tank of gas and I put one of the hours on it running from LeadHill to Tucker Hollow and back. Boat sat in a dock and was beat up, the front keel has a crack. I dont think it can be welded without taking the interior out, the crack is well above water line. So now the question is how would a person fix this? I have thought about PC-7 epoxy. Any thoughts on these items? Tightlines John

Arkansas river is just to close for you to pass up or try Eleven MIle res. and some streamers for nice Northern Pike action.

I have been a scuba diver for many years, one thing I have learned is that most divers are worse than fisherman for STRETCHING THE TRUTH about numbers and size of fish and location. I have seen many brag about seeing 5lb smallmouth, me being on the same dive I know it was maybe a 2 lb smallie and so on. Last year at a walleye spearfishing tourney I saw what guys said were 12 lb fish weigh in at 6lbs. Fish do look larger underwater, I cannot argueeeeee that! But someone may have seen two fi sh on a bluff and suddenly on a dive map its named spoonbill bluff. Dive maps and the people running most dive shops write things to make people think if they dive there thats what they will see. One place on Greers, divers call Millers Mansion, there is no mansion, just a house up on the bluff. John

Iits a largemouth the stripe down the saide the yellow coloration and the body shape, all say largemouth, the tooth patch is not going to tell you what species it is.
-
*hand-operated dip nets or lifts with one inch (or smaller ) square bar mesh for use while sportfishing. This method may be used day or night. All other species of fish must be immediately released." Day or night I think is the key here. Still its up to the warden.

A buddy dropped by and showed me three nice stripers caught under the lights last night. Not huge but at lest they are starting. He said it was slow and they fished all night. They also received a ticket for using a gill net, aka a shad net, the officer told them all gill nets regardless of size are illegal, this includes the shad nets. I think its a bad interupt of the reg. But thats my feeling.

Good luck fishing aand selling the bike. Wifey ask me if I wanted a Harley the other day, I said Nope! Just a new river boat. A man has to have things right, I had rather be fishin.

Did pretty good on a large crawfish lure, caught several 12-14 inch smallies and 3 -15inch largemouth bass. The back end of the deep holes.

I think line depend on you. I use 6 or 8 pound test for everything. Fished Taneycomo this afternoon used both. I threw some large crankbaits, DT-22 and caught some bows, good bows, 15-16 inch. Then went to powerbait for a bit and nada nothing zilch. Back to Hot N Tot and caught some small fingerlings, 6 inch bows. Went back to my favorite and lost a really good brown, left the net at home!! the line borke at the rod tip and I lost my favorite lure, I had it on 6lb test. So your line choice is just that I dont belive there is any perfect line weight. I have used a scale in Wal Mart checking breaking strength of line to find the smallest strongest line and all lines are not equal. You have to use what you are happy with and that may not be what I would recommend. My best recommendation may not be what someone else would recommend.

Well we would all like to fire a warning shot, but where would we go? I carry two sets of grabhooks, there is a guide from White River last year that earned a set. Yep I call it the shot across the bow. I dont say a word and tie a set on and fire I dont care what happens once they start it. I can pretty well handle most things, even the BAxter County Deputy that crowded me out once. Two summers ago at Wildcat Shoals I had been bank fishing and one of the guides would run right over the top of my line. Fireline dont cut to easy, I think if I can land one of those guides and their Supreme river boat, I get to throw the guide back and keep the boat, right? I do again want to comment on how profeesional Davy Wotton is, I have seen him on the river many times and he has never been rude. I have had some guides almost bump boats when the wife and I are fishing, I figure they see we are catching fish and normally good fish, we dont chum have no need to chum and many guides do. We almost always catch fish lots of fish relasing most and keeping enough for a good meal. But there is no call for being rude on the water. If someone is catching fish stay away from them, they were there first. You will not run me off my place!! I might bump and grind and be called a pirate for boarding your vessel.

Spring river has not been stocked in many years, it was an accident that released the tiger musky. I was stationed at Ft Riley near Manhatten KS. and fished both lakes and never heard of musky in either. They do have walleye. My daughter lives in Manhatten when I visit I always check around and still noone has seen any musky. So that may have either been a rumor or a one time stocking. Milford does have some nice smallies and Tuttle has some good largemouth. Both have tons of white bass and wipers in both river systems and can be awesome on light tackle.

About 50 miles to Table Rock, Bull SHoals, White River and 10 miles to Buffalo river. 100 feet to the pond catfish and bream. I am adding more fathead minnows to the pond this week, last warm day the catfish did feed on top when I feed them, about 24 or so cats in the pond, 100 hybred bluegill, will be adding another 100 F-1 bluegill. One grasscarp. 62 miles to Tucker Hollow, 54 to Scottys Trout Dock.

Those look like a lure we use called the Ozark Crappie minnow. They work well. we like motor oil with red or copper flecks my brother swear by them. I like crystal with silver flecks in the creeks.

By good sized fish, what are you calling good sized? The wind has been so bad here on my hill I would not even think about getting the Jon boat out on the water. I have not fished Taneycomo in many years, have below Powersite a couple times and below Powersite is really disappointing to me. Also I like to throw jerk baits anyone do any good with them on Taney? Its been a couple weeks now since I went fishin and the urge is starting to hit me hard!

The govener is having a call in show tomorrow. Someone with the overlook knowledge should call in. Dano, that section matter of fact most of the land in that area was homesteaded by my ancestors. The old white house on top of the 2nd hill out Cottonwood rd was built 2 years before the civil war by my ancestors. Event he old Cemetery another 1/2 mile out was started by my great, great great grandmother. Those condos took my squirrel woods. Just before it sold I was able to get one last Wood duck drake from the pond thats nolonger there. Things change thats why I now live in Newton county!!!

Until those carpet baggers came down after the war, the spelling was ARKANSAW, after the Kansa indians of which the other tribes were a part of. I would prefer it be Arkansaw, look at the old maps.

Trapping/Killing Feral Hogs
taxidermist replied to drbewley's topic in New News and General Discussion
Nothing wrong with wild hogs. You eat deer? Squrriel? Rabbits? Just cook to an internal temp of 165F and nothing should be wrong, I will come down and hunt when and where? -
Bankruptcy laws are such that he may still have to pay for the damage. I know someone who had a large judgement and the judgement was set aside by the court. The person had tried to file 11 and get around it but judgements can be held accountable. The developer should have some type of insurance or paid a bond. Next is to find out how they evaded the bond. My mother sold 10 acres in Harrison AR. maybe the highest 10 acress, just off the coner of Bunker and Cottonwood, the people put in condos and had some big hoops to jump thru for the state, to include construction and future runoff by building a holding pond. When I saw the mess at overlook a few months ago, I wondered who allowed the idiot to scalp the hill. Now can the EPA not be called in to help in this?

American indians can nolonger catch and kill eagles. Matter of fact they must get all feathers thru the repository. I did see a young American Indian with an eagle feather hanging from his rear view mirror get a ticket that cost him $10,000. and a dishonorable discharge from the Army.

Buffalo river from Rush to Norfork. You will have a blast and little other traffic.
