  1. Brownieman, you nailed it! Leonard has to make a living like the rest of us. Fortunately, he gets to make some of it fishing. Yes, Leonard, we are all jealous. Me more than others, then again, we could fight about that too! This forum is quite possibly the only thing that even remotely keeps me sane, aside from fishing. I know that I will be using the services of Leonard in the very near future as he seems to be an genuine, friendly fisherman. Don't fret, Leonard, Taneycomonights is book marked. Everyone on this forum is way more intelligent, helpful, friendly, funny and just down right good natured more than any other I have read. Tight lines and if I see ya, I'll be sure and swap some lies with every last one of ya!
  2. Fellas, here's my take(take it or leave it)... It's 3 bucks. Whoopty-do! 7 years ago, on Friday the 13th no less, I caught my first brownie, floating the Current with my buddy Hippie Tim. It was a beautiful 24"-er that I hooked on a black ant out of the front of the canoe. Hippie Tim took some pics and we measured her. I was standing in ankle deep water holding her tail letting her get her breath when Tim asks me, "are you going to keep it?" I didn't immediately answer. We had food in the cooler. I'm not big on mounting them. Then it hit me, if I had that much fun catching that beauty, I wanted a kid to have a chance at the same fun. Soon as she was ready, I let her go. I felt darn good about it too. It was the right thing to do. Of course, the rest of the three day float, every time we stopped fishing to eat, Tim would say, "darn some trout would be really good right now." But that's the way me and my fishing buddies are, always some good natured ribbing. Wouldn't have it any other way. Bottom line, $3 for a daily tag, if you only fish for an hour, still $3. Hell, you spent way more in gasoline to get there.
  3. Right on Leonard!
  4. fishinwrench posted this in the Niangua forum yesterday..... It really kicked Bennett Spring in the butt. Dead Rainbows literally covered the ground downstream of the hatchery yesterday.... it was starting to reek, and the buzzards were waiting anxiously for the parking lots to clear out. Bennett lost a lot of fish. That blast of warm water was lethal I guess. Was wondering if anyone had updates and/or photos. Since Jerry from Weaver's has fallen on some more bad luck (prayers as always) I feel totally cut off from my favorite little trout park.
  5. Yeah Captain, it does totally suck on moss cutting days, but, if you ever happen to catch one of the days when they're cutting grass on the banks.... oh man, the fish go craaaaazy! Pat
  6. Glad you're stickin' around Terry. Sounds like things are lookin' up for ya. Hope it keeps going in that direction.
  7. Now I can get back to my Monday and Thursday morning Bennett Springs fix..... what a relief! Glad Jerry's doing better and there may still be hope for his eye sight. Scary stuff.
  8. Brian, how did things turn out? I've been thinking about her.... Please update.
  9. Madonn'!!!!! You better!!!!
  10. I'll be flinging some flies, usually in zone 1, by the dam if anyone wants to swap lies and have a brew. Look for a green 4runner (Mo plates, POW MIA sitcker on back window) parked by the restrooms in back of the maintenance garage. Always looking for some tips/tricks and of course the good/funny stories. Staying in the park at the cabins up by the spring so I may be there in the afternoons.
  11. Welcome Gary! Secluded cabin on the Current... you lucky dog.
  12. Randall, did you go by there? I know what you mean about parting with $50, that's a tough one to take. Just wondering, Thanks.
  13. My buddy Hippie Tim is going to call maybe today or tomorrow and get an update. I understand that Jerry is a volunteer fire fighter so that may have been what he was doing when this occurred. I'll let everyone know as soon as I hear something.... hopefully good.
  14. No problem Kyle, hell we probably talked. LOL!!! I didn't run across anyone that was way out of control or rude. Just not the float I like anymore. Keep waking up everyday and it'll happen to you too. Peace brother, and oh yeah, next time you have a party float planned, post it. Just kidding, hope y'all had a good time and everyone got home safe. Almost any girl parts you see when you're in college are "not too shabby".
  15. I posted this in the prayer request forum too, just thought I'd put the word out here. Those folks have always been so good to me. Fishing report for Bennett Spring State Park, brought to you by Weaver's Tackle Store 7/22/07 To our faithful readers: We very regretfully must suspend our Online Fishing Reports for an indefinite period of time. On Thursday, Jerry suddenly and severely suffered retinal damage in both eyes. In one eye, his vision loss is total. He has had several procedures and some surgery done since then in an attempt to save the other eye, which has retinal tears in it. More surgery is scheduled tomorrow in Springfield, and we would ask for your prayers that it will be successful. Our store is open for business, with Bill & Rosie Bailey and several of our campers, neighbors and friends holding down the fort. Neither of us has been in the store since Thursday, but other than having to shorten weekend hours, it's still pretty much business as usual there. The outpouring of support and offers of help have been phenomenal, and we are most grateful. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, friendship and continued support. Hopefully, we will have good news to bring you in the future. Jerry & Brenda Miller Weaver's Tackle Store

  17. I was at BSSP from Thursday til Sunday morning. Thursday evening was good fishing and Friday morning was good catching. Most fish on the "bedspread", nothing huge but good times and lots of fish. Saturday morning... I hate to say it, pressured by my girlfriend, floated the Niangua from BSSP to Ho-Hum. Made two casts broke down the rod, and paddled like no ones business through countless moving canoe dams, some 8-10 canoes wide. Complete insanity. Didn't see the "Gayness" you speak of but did see some exposed girl parts that did not need to be. You know what I mean.
  18. Man TF, sorry to hear about the moss infestation. The Weaver's site is one of my top 3 Trout Porn sites.
  19. Thanks techo! Now we're back to the good stuff! Fishing and humor. Too bad guys that get to fish - FOR A LIVING - have to bicker. Everyone has to remember, electronic communication doesn't relay the cool things about actually talking to someone face to face, like sarcasm, body language and facial expressions. I suggest next time, have the conversation over a beer or a good cup of coffee. Thanks to all for making my fishing "down time" enjoyable and informative.
