  1. Just wondering what y'all do when the season is over and your plants are dead? I usually till them in the soil once or twice before the ground freezes for the winter. Is this good, or bad? Any suggestions/alternatives/better ways. Just so my soil is good again next year.... Thanks

  3. Brooks-e, if you're going to school in Rolla and do not hit Montauk and the Current river you are totally cheating yourself! Its in your back yard!
  4. Taxi, thanks for sharing. That is one heartfelt video by a very brave young man. He is my hero, as are all of our brave and courageous men and women who insure our freedom every day. I thank them. God bless the United States of America.

    Acorns

Guess I should have saved the billions, and I mean BILLIONS that were in my yard here in Oakville. Earlier in the year the yard was like walking on marbles.

  7. The Republican Fisherman A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, 'Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am.' The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, 'You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.' She rolled her eyes and said, 'You must be a Republican.' 'I am,' replied the man. 'How did you know?' 'Well,' answered the balloonist, 'everything you told me is technically correct , but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me.' The man smiled and responded, 'You must be a Democrat.' 'I am,' replied the balloonist. 'How did you know?' 'Well,' said the man, 'you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault.

    Blossom Rot

My maters are kickin like Bruce Lee, but it seems that a lot of them are getting rotten on the bottom. Anyone have a remedy or advice on how to keep this from happening? Its happened in the past but never to this many. Thanks!

  11. Man Makes Record Catch With Barbie Fishing Rod Thursday, August 21, 2008 ELKIN, N.C. — David Hayes' granddaughter just ask him to hold her Barbie rod and reel while she went to the bathroom. He did. And seconds later he landed the state record channel catfish at 21 pounds, 1 ounce. Alyssa's father had bought the pink Barbie fishing rod for Christmas and she had caught a few bluegill before her grandfather hauled in the catfish. The Winston-Salem Journal reported the catch Aug. 5 in eastern Wilkes County has been certified as a record by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Hayes and his granddaughter have been fishing in the pond behind his house since she was big enough to hold a pole. Hayes says his granddaughter worried he would break her rod. He landed the 21-pound fish on a 6-pound test line. It was 32 inches long, 2 inches longer than the rod.

  13. See the guy in the middle.... he's a sucka!
  14. Dominic's on the Hill is excellent. I used to chef there in the 90s so I may be a bit biased. Dom and his whole family are a great bunch of folks. Kind of a dressy place though. Charlie Gitto's Gian-Tony's Giovanni's All 3 are great. If you're anywhere near the Hill around lunch time, you're totally cheating yourself if don't get a hot salami sammy at Gioia's Deli. Mouth's watering just thinking about it. If you're just looking for bar food, Milo's, katty-corner from St. Ambrose is the place. I could go on and on....
  15. Thanks Leonard. I fish vicariously through you brother. Keep it going.... <I'm so jealous I can't even believe I read this forum any more.>
  16. Glad you're back on the water Trav. Always enjoy the reports. I haven't been fishing since June 23rd! Major depression has set in.... Think I'll go curl up in a corner and cry now.

  23. JJ, a while back I asked my little brother the Uber-geek about monitors and his reply was basically they are all pretty much the same(manufacturers), but with different names. Unless you go the ultra high end route.
  24. I searched high and low on there yesterday to no avail... mysterious.
  25. THAT is so cool! Congrats to your boy Andrew, what a fine young man, and I'm sure he has followed your "expert" tutelage. This kind of thing is the best reason to view this forum.
