  1. Ok Bill Took my son today afte reading your post from yesterday. Really expected to get a few good ones. Fished out of Baxter, fished to around mouth of James and back to cove across from buoy point. Caught one short fish. Fished the wind and all kinds of banks. Thought about calling Bill Beck and seeing if he could help, but did not want to bother him. I am glad you caught them. I put my boat in anywhere from 18 feet to 2 feet and only mustered one short Kentucky. What did I do wrong? Let me know. Thanks for the info. you shell out, it is always truthful and right on. Well better go, need to get an ice pack for the shoulder, I slung that blade a ton today. Thanks again.
  2. Last year was my best year using a jig, I threw the MO craw in the 7/16 oz on 15 lb. FluoroClear. I caught more 4 to 6 lbs. bass last year than any other year. I am not a tournament fisherman, but I do get to fish a lot. This year it has been much colder and I was unable to repeat what I did last year, and when the water temp. finally got to where it should be, the water decided to come up about 13 feet. I like that jig due to the ability it has to not get hung up as well. The round head in 5/16 oz seems to get hung in the rocks a little easier. It may be due to the person who is using it, but I get hung less with the flippin jig. Hope this helps.
  3. Went down today, late this afternoon, about 3pm and fished til 6pm. Had good water color at Eagle Rock, found water temp. from 47-48.5. Caught 5 bass and 2 kept. Caught them on jerk bait and a grub. Lost one really good walleye too. That upset me a little bit. Well that is about it, heard they were really catching them between Shell Knob bridge and Campbell Pt. on a spinnerbait, but don't know how reliable that report is. Well gotta go.
  4. Put in at Viola and started in a transition area throwing a Luck E Strike jig, no takers. There is a quite a bit of color from Viola to Jake Creek. Caught a short largemouth on crappie jig on a flat up from ski buoys. Finally caught a nice keeper up from there on a channel bank, probably around 3.5 lbs. caught it on a wart. Saw water temps. anywhere from 45.7 to 49. Saw several dying shad, but could not catch one on a jerk bait. Well that is it for now, better than my last three trips.
  5. Fished the run off today, but could not get a bite. Just thought I would let you know that someone did get out today.
  6. The boy and I decided to go see if there was any water running on Table Rock. There was plenty of run-off coming in all the creeks from Roaring River to Haddocks Creek. Buddy of mine told me he had caught them in Feb. when a run-off was coming in, but not today. Water was a little too cold. I was finding the water temp. was around 43.5 in the backs of these creeks, which is 2 degrees warmer than the main lake. Well that is about it, thought I would pass on the info. since I went.
  7. JayBird, you do a lot of bass fishing? Let me know sometime when you may need a partner to go. There are times I go quite a bit by myself. Would sure help pass the time. Let me know your email address and I can get back with you.
  8. Hey Gone Fishin If you're needed some company let me know, I live in Cassville, and I can be on the water very quickly. Especially if you are going to throw that stick bait. LOL. Just kiddin. Hope you get to go soon. Let us know when that stick bite takes off.
  9. Ok, this won't take long. I put in at Big M about 11 am. Motored across the lake, caught one short fish on first cast out of a cedar. Ran from there up to Rock Creek, nothing, from there ran up above Devil's Dive and still nothing. Had great color up there, must have been coming from Leatherwood. Water temps ranged from 40-41.3. Caught the one fish on rogue, threw a jig and wart, but never got a taker on them. Will go again next Monday and let you know.
  10. I ran into the same problem in the King's last year. I took my GPS and started looking for a brush pile that was planted near Viola, but whenever I tried to match the coordinates I ended up way out of the vicinity. Don't know why. Tried one more set below and had same problem.
  11. Absolutely have to go with the Eakins flippin jig in MO craw, natural brown wart, and the 1/2 oz. War Eagle white/chart spinnerbait with chart and white blades. As you can tell, I cannot fathom how to catch them in the 40 ft. realm.
  12. Fished last Wed. before the front hit, could not catch them early, once front got here, ran up the Kings and caught about 15, on blade, shallow crank and flipping a jig. Went back again on Friday, fished from 11:30 to 3:30 and only caught 3 in the Shell Knob area. All 3 came on blade, 2 were keepers. Sorry for posting late.
  13. I called the Corp. office in Branson, and was told you could not dry camp at any facility that was closed for the season. I was told that Indian Point and Cape Fair would be open for camping. I have a guide trip coming up on Dec. 9, and we are going to camp at Indian Point. I don't remember what she said about State Park.
  14. No disrespect to Bass Pro or the Fishermen who present at those seminars, but I want to meet and talk with regular guys like me, who I don't feel intimidated by. I think and know from everything I read that Mike Webb is awesome with his expertise of deep fishing and the intricacies that go along with it. But in my opinion, if we get a seminar together from this board, we could have a better chance at having an informal meeting with maybe some possibility of hands on experience. The more I read this reply the more it doesn't even make sense to me, but I will post it anyway.
  15. I'm in.
  16. dtrs5kprs I am located in Cassville, where are you located? Just looking for some help on settings and tutorial by someone who knows a lot more about it than me. Sorry if I've overstepped. Thanks for you input.
  17. Hey JRay I would like to start more drop shotting and spooning, but I am having trouble with the 135, if I start more of this would it not be more beneficial to go to the 17 or 15? Thanks for you input I appreciate it.
  18. Have been searching E-bay and some other sites and have been coming across some Lowrance units that are new and used in good condition. The units in question are the LCX 17 and LCX 15MT. I know at one time these were top notch. What would you do if purchasing the new LCX 27 or 37 is out of the picture. Would you replace an X-135 and a Vexilar EDGE 2 with a couple of these units? Thanks in advance.
  19. What can I expect to do in early Nov. with the weather patterns that we have been having leading up to the trip.
  20. Fished on Friday of last week, sorry so late of a post. I too had gar surfacing, but I caught several bass in every spot I stopped at. Caught the fish shallow on a spinnerbait and on a rattle trap. The gar did not seem to bother the bass. I have seen where the bite seemed to be affected by gar presence, but that is in the spring.
  21. I have an X-135 at bow. Looking to learn some deep fishing tactics. The question I have is, would I be better off to use the built in transducer in my Maxxum Pro 80, or should I go back with the original puck transducer that came for the trolling motor with the unit? Thanks in advance.
  22. Do we have one yet? If not, when can we expect to see it? thanks
  23. Went yesterday from about 2pm until 7:30 pm. Fished up the river, had cloud cover for most of the day, threw buzz bait and spit n image and caught one. Flipped a hundred to two hundred bushes without a bite. Finally managed to catch some on a rattle trap on the flats and caught them flipping a jig on the channel banks with trees. Flip the jig past the tree and let it fall and they would slamm or your line would just stop. Caught a total of 15 with 2 keepers. Good luck when you get to go.
  24. Hey Bill What is the chance that a guide such as yourself would go in another boat and help set up a graph so that it works properly when trying to spoon or drop shot or just find shad. Thought it would be a good question to ask, have not seen it asked here before. Thanks
  25. Spent most of the day in Long Creek. Can't say we had much success. Not a lot of color in the water down there. I know it was a tough day to fish, at least for me, but to only catch 8 bass. That was one of the worst trips I have had this year. Hope you get to go and enjoy the weather.
