  1. jdmidwest.. Not sure of the exact regulation, but "I think" that if you are out in anything that floats, and are on the main channel, you have to have lights. ??
  2. What I've learned over the years: The lake MAY stay about normal pool all winter. OR: The lake may go down to 914 to 910 all winter. OR: The lake may go down to 909 to 890..... ( lol ) Bottom line is: You just never know and there's really no way to estimate. My wild stab this winter would be no better then a wild guess, but I think we'll see 910. (remember, that's just a wild guess).
  3. Bill, take a jacket and wear some sensible shoes !! Have fun men !
  4. Some really good BIG fish weights too !! Good job Jason !
  5. I think I remember a few years ago, Tablerock was given a nighttime speed limit....Not saying you were doing anything wrong...at all....Yes, people do go out with no lights in boats of all sizes, but especially the smaller boats...Wonder what the crazies were thinking as the noise of your craft got closer and closer.... I hate to say, because I could be wrong, but I THINK the night time speed limit is 30 mph....Yes, I know. Barely enough to stay on plane. lol
  6. Ethonal free gas is fairly easy to find, but ethanol free REGULAR gas is... well, I've never even seen it around here. (Tablerock Lake)...Hey Bob's in Lampe has ethanol free premium, and it's really not that much higher the regular.....91 octane has never hurt any of my stuff that I know of...Beats the heck out of ethanol....
  7. If I say anything....I'll be ripped off tonight.. (since I always leave a cheap crankbait on the deck with the rottweiler sleeping at the dock)... Sorry bout your loss. Man that is low. Stealing from a fishing boat.
  8. Burgundy...You sound like a walleye fisherman to me ... We should go when the weather dips to 85 degree highs ! What do you think ?
  9. For me... It will be nice to have a Cabelas in the neighborhood. About an hour north, BPS...About an hour SW there will a Cabelas. Kind of depends on who they cater too...Will it be trout and stripers, with a little bass mixed in ?? Or will it be alot of walleye stuff with the others mixed in... I DOUBT that..lol It will still be nice to have somewhere else to go look and ...leave your money.

    Water

It's Barrack Hussein or however you spell his non American name.......It's gotta be his fault...Just wait till Tuesday.....The ship is gonna hit the sand...
  11. Cool stuff ! I want to see one of these machines.
  12. And copperheads don't really like the water all that much. They can swim, but only if they are escaping from something or somebody. The dark area's on a copperhead look kind of like a bow tie, and copperheads have almost a pinkish hue in their brown. The big Black snakes are great. Not poisenous, and they eat alot of mice and small chipmunks and critters that reek havic with insulation and boat wiring.. lol and your phone line wire.
  13. The bozo hatch is very, very small at Bull Shoals....And the farther you get away from a marina, the less bozo's are there... I love that place. Glad you guys got at least a couple. The 24 looks BIG for a 24.. Walleyes with shoulders !! Great job on figuring it out. If you had gone the next day, I have to think you and PD would have nabbed a double limit....(Did PD tell you who first showed him leadcore in action)?? lol...
  14. Just a heads up. I received a flyer today in the mail from Cabelas. They have 3 sizes of the Stradic FI reels on sale for $129.99, marked down from $159.99... They have the small 1000 FI, the ST 2500 FI, and the ST 3000 FI in the flyer. Great reels if you are in the market for a new, high quality, spinning reel. It's good until 9-15-2011 ..
  15. Leslie, Marty F. here. Is the water still ultra clear at Norfork? Last time I was there you could plainly see the bottom in 25 to 30 feet of water in the lower part of the lake. Just wondering.

    Be Careful!

Well... A huge thank you to Bill and rps (and everyone - Techo u cranky ole fisherman)... I mowed and weed eated today, more then any old fool should have, and my eyes were SO full of dirt and pollen, and whatever...Then I read.....Bozo's and Full Monty's...........Laughed till I cried. You guys sure cured and cleaned my eyes from laughing till I was crying....Two showers didn't fix me, but that one, wonderful, humorous post did......Gosh I love this forum. Still chuckling by the way....Been there and done all that, and it was great to hear two ole veteran's saying what I've thought SO many times..... Thanks Bill & rps....
  17. I agree....rps' new handle should be "Wilson".... lol ... Or maybe the unknown fisherman ?
  18. Randy....You're starting to pizz me off.... LOL.....(you know i'm kidding).... Nicely Done !! And you have alot of guts using that tiny line, but it sure seemed to work !
  19. I believe, the walleye tournaments I've been involved in were just plain, "NO culling"....No matter what month...The old MWAA and the Mid-South tournaments were team tourneys....You could weigh 5 walleyes.......no culling.....period....Missouri or Arkansas. I'm not quoting state regs, just tournament regs. If you put walleye number 5 in your livewell, you are done for the day.
  20. Great info !! Now if you could just talk Mother Nature into cooling the air temps back into the mid 80's........lol
  21. I'll 2nd the "be careful" tip....If I'm alone, I ALWAYS keep a knife and a pair of side cutter wire cutter within reach. Lots of things can cause you to get stuck on a trotline hook. They are big and bad, and it's all the worse if there is a fish involved. Make SURE you can reach the knife to cut the dropper line if need be. Make sure your wire cutters are stout enough to cut the hook too. Now go catch a biggun ! One more thing. Please, when you are done and heading back to the city or wherever, please untie or cut and remove your trotline from the lake. please.
  22. That's what I was going to say. Bill, you don't need a new boat, just a T-8 kicker. (Or whatever will move you along at 2.0 to 2.2 mph). Powerdive, did you try any of the bigger, Reef Runner type stuff ?
  23. Glad it's not just me....Haven't been out alot, but I've had some slow fishing, even with nightcrawlers. Haven't skunked out yet, but it's really slow and frustrating when you can see lots of "fish" on the graph...
  24. I can tell you that EVERYDAY...Cow Creek is a zoo, starting around 9:00 a.m....The few skier's I see out at 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. are few and far between, but some do start early. It's Friday, so the endless parade of 30 to 50 foot boats are headed for the back of the creek, for party time...lol...If only their wakes weren't so big. Yall be safe out there and watch out for those rogue wakes.
  25. I don't chase the flatheads in August, but a trotline baited with LIVE bluegills/sunfish would be my bait of choice. In May and June (when I have time) I tie a short t-line tight and up high in the timber....My best area's then (springtime) are steep narrow coves back in the creek arms. The only reason I can give you on the "tight and up high" is that a good fish will pull your line down and get hung-up if you let it sag much in the middle....I like t-lines with about 12 hooks to keep from being hung-up all the time.... I've always wondered about those timbered bluff walls. They would seem to be a great place. I have just not tried them....I tie parallel to shore in water up to 20 or 25 feet deep. Even 14 feet of water works for me...Again, that's May & June..... Good luck ! You may just catch a monster...Report in if you can...
