  1. Yes you are right they were a couple of miles below the bridge, and were several miles above sweetwater, typed to fast didn't think it thru very well, but they had some nice big crappie anyway.
  2. I can get them by the 1000 for 100.00 painted or plain or they are 14.99 per 100. 1/100-1/16th sizes avaliable.
  3. Sunday I had two customers come by they had two limits of crappie, nice big ones, biggest was 13" the caught them on kings river just above sweetwater, about 2 miles or so below the 86 bridge over kings river near Golden Missouri. caught them on white jigs (1/8th ounce) and chartruse, about 10 feet deep, they told me that they had caught 45 total.
  4. I started fishing Taney in 1976, it was great then and great now.
  5. I have fished SWEPCO many times the past 10 years, and have done well several times on clouser minnows, and shad patterns, we fished out of a bass boat in the inlet up by the power plant, and had a blast, I have caught several nice fish in 5 lb range over there, my buddies were always fishing spinnerbaits or rubber baits like a fluke, they always caught more fish, but I always had fun with the fly rod. It would be a good lake to use a kayak, a tube would be good to, it is a small lake about 200 acres, maybe bigger but not much bigger, we also have done well at the end of the lake where the dam is located, there are two water outlets down there that are under the water and the fish have at times been around those outlets, I have never caught anything but bass out of the lake, but I hear there are cats and a few crappie also, go fish the lake it is great, but the boat ramp is a scary one, and you are going to have to look pretty hard to find the ramp, not much signage there, good luck it is worth the trip.
  6. This was opening day last year at 6:30 a.m. This will be a wed. opener so it won't be any worse than this on the 1st. There are a lot of big 5-10 lb fish in the river, the hatchery is going to stock 100 more in the 3-5 pound. It should be good fishing, crowded but good, most of the crowds will be in the zone 1 area.
  7. Yep, the construction is all done but the clean up, they were moving heavy equipment out yesterday, the spring pond is filled back up, and the flow is just a little over 2 million a day, that is what a hatchery employee told me on the 20th of feb. The hatchery is still getting an upgrade, over the next few months the conservation dept. is having a liquid oxygen system installed, this should be done by early summer. So there will still be a lot of digging going on around the hatchery, but it shoudn't effect the river. The hatchery is getting fish today from the shepherd of the hills hatchery. I was told yesterday the flow would only be enough to keep 6 raceways up and running. The river is clearing and should be in great shape for the opening on the 1st of march. There is already about 4000 fish in the river and the hatchery is expecting to stock another 4000 + over 100 lunkers, so it should be a good opening.
