  1. I'm surprised the Water Patrol didn't close the upper lake given the docks like that that are still floating but with wakes could be damaged further.
  2. Hey everybody, I am beginning to think about taking the plunge and buying my first real boat. Right now I have a full setup, small 14ft Richline that is roughly a 1968 model with a mid 80's 20hp Merc, but I want something bigger and obviously with more amenities. I have been looking at BPS at the Tracker Line, and don't really know anybody that owns a Tracker that I can bounce some thoughts off so I thought I'd post. I have read some older posts about the aluminum lines out there, but if any Tracker owners are out there, let me know what you think of your boat, and if I should wait a little longer and hope prices drop further. FYI I'm looking at the 175 probably w/ 60HP.. Maybe 75 if I could get a good deal. Thanks! Mike St Louis, MO
  3. Hey guys, I am a taneycomo regular from St. Peters. We're making our spring trip this March 6-7. I'm definitely getting the fever reading all of these posts and hopefully the fishing stays good for the rest of the winter/spring! Keep up the good news!
  4. Thanks for the report... I will be at Taney in early March and my group also usually sticks with spin fishing. We usually throw the spoons and inline spinners too, what kinds of rapalas are you talking about? Countdowns?
  5. Thanks, just saw that it is the 28th. Looks like i'll be there on the 6th, so will miss out this year. Thanks!
  6. Hey is there going to be another tournament in March this year?
  7. Came down from St Louis this weekend to try some spin fishing on Taney. We got out early Saturday morning and waded through the fog to the upper lake. Didn't do well until almost lunchtime. Drifted once from the narrows down to FC, and only had a few short strikes on 1/6oz Gold Cleos and a few other types of inline spinners, lil Jakes, etc. Went back out after lunch and made a few more drifts from maybe a mile up from FC back to the mouth and picked up maybe a dozen or 14 between 12 and 15" bows. Released all. Definitely not a stellar weekend but always better than workin! The lake wasn't near as busy as I would have expected given the weather, but I think it was a combination of it being high and the fishing being slow.
  8. Do you guys know if there is a public launch near fall creek? I've used the MDC ramp in the past, and I think I remember seeing something at both fall creek and also all the way up near the cable. Am I wrong, are they private?
  9. Thanks for the help building up to my trip this weekend, but this is going to be my first fall trip to Taneycomo. In the spring, (First week of March) when I usually come down, we have done ok spin fishing Lil Jakes and Cleos, does anybody still do OK with them this time of year? Thanks Mike
  10. Do you guys expect a busy weekend (amount of fishermen, both wading and drifting)?
  11. I think you mostly answered this on a previous post, but just to double check. What affect does this have on drifting (Boat) on this weekend's fishing? Will the upper lake be tough to navigate or even reach on Sat/Sun? Or does the water running in the AM keep it high enough to make it? Thanks Mike
  12. Thanks Phil
  13. Phil, I'd like to know about next week too. I have a trip planned to do some fishing (from boat) next weekend, 31st-2nd. What will the lake be like?
  14. No Kidding! I'm going to be at Taney on Haloween weekend, hopefully this keeps up!
  15. Hello everybody, I have a problem that has been on my mind for a long time regarding a 14ft aluminum fishing boat that I "rescued" sunk in a dock slip about 10 years ago. I am 26 now, so I was at my family's lake place at lake of the ozarks and pulled the boat out, worked on it a bit and simply used it in our cove, no motor, etc for the next few years. I started fishing Taneycomo about three years ago and wanted to start using my boat, perfect boat for the lake. Anyway the boat originally had a MO-####-## on it, and when the water patrol searches it, they find a previous owner that we don't have a sales receipt or title from, and they tell me there is no way to license it unless that owner releases the rights to us. I know for a fact that the original owner has been dead for over 10 years. I don't get how I can ever get it licensed, and even if I could, has anybody ever gone through something like this? I figured the ozark fishing area has to be full of these "salvaged" aluminum boats that people title and license and take on lakes like Taneycomo. Any ideas? Thanks!
  16. Does the fall fishing differ much from Spring (March) Fishing? I plan a trip every year for the first weekend of March, but would like to make a trip down in the fall too. Do the patterns differ in the fall or is pretty much the same year round? FYI I'm talking about spin fishing from a boat here. (Little Cleo's, Jakes, Spoons, etc)
  17. Has anybody compared the 19ft non V Tracker, I believe the series is Pro Team, and the V-18 All Fish boats as far as quality and ride? I get that the V should have a better ride in rough water, but is it that noticeable? Any other pro's or con's?
  18. I agree, I usually only spend two weekends a year at Taney, we were down last weekend, but with the warm weather, the boat count went way up, These guys that fly by at 30+mph no matter what is floating around them is just way too much. We were in a small 14ft and nearly took water over the sides several times, not from the wake, but spray!
  19. Do you usually host a Fall tournament, or is it just the Spring? I had pretty good luck Sunday between Scotty's dock and Bass Pro on a 1/8oz Little Cleo and a Bronze and Red Little Jake. We had a few 14-17in Rainbows down there that were pretty healthy. I'd like to think I found a hotspot for next Spring at least!
  20. Hey we were fishing Taneycomo during the tournament that ran out of Lilley's but didn't see or hear any results. Does anybody that fished it have any?
  21. Does less generation typically slow fishing down or can it actually speed it up. I'm referring to Trout in Taneycomo?
  22. Hey Phil, how many boats are you expecting?
  23. Ahh thanks for the info, I never really thought to compare them to a super duper, very similar now that I think about it.
  24. Hey I heard there might be some pretty good fishing on a lure called a Little Jake Spin-a-Lure. I searched the local shops in St. Louis and didn't find it today, but did find it online. Does anybody know of where they are sold?
  25. I'm a 100% spin fisherman, and I have had good luck in the past on Little Cleo's, and actually small crankbaits (Crawfish colored, very small) They're right though, lightest line you can get away with, I usually can use a green 4#, haven't seen a huge drop in fish from friends using 2#.
