  1. You know.....on this pattern I am not convinced they do anything besides maybe adding a little bit of a lateral line. Galloup's patterns are a different story. To me, when the body that is behind the rubberlegs isn't very full (much like the Galloup patterns) it really gives the legs a chance to move a lot....when the body behind the legs is pretty thick and full the legs pretty much just get "glued" to the sides of the body. I am a big fan of sili-legs as a whole on streamers but on real full bodied streamers I don't know if they are a true necessity. HA! Thanks! I started to edit that out and thought "What the heck, I'll leave it in". My boys got a kick out of it.
  2. Hey guys, here is the Red Rocket from Mike Schmidt. The more I tie his flies, the more I like them. I am a HUGE fan of Laser Dub for building a flashy/full head....wool just can't pull off what Laser Dub can. Hope you enjoy. #! I have thrown half a dozen casts this year with a nymph.....the rest have been streamers. Addiction is an understatement.
  4. AGREED! You have to tweak your cast quite a bit when you go from a floating line to a sink tip. With floating line you can throw laser tight loops....with a sink tip you will battle the weight of the tip if you try to throw really tight loops. Keep your loop open and let the weight of the head help you cast. Ideally, I like to see more of a pendulum cast with sink tips. Nothing pretty about sink tip casting--grip it and rip it.
  5. Tasty.....
  6. Regular, nylon rope. Fray it out and loop it through these steel rings (http://www.feather-craft.com/wecs.php?store=feacraft&action=display&target=GS562), tie it off behind the ring, Clear Cure Goo it and you are done....eyes are optional.
  7. Hahaha, very cool.
  8. Good! How is that Voodoo Squatch? Sweet music to my ears.....
  9. Subscribed to your Youtube channel a while back....great job!
  10. Great.....now my wife is going to wonder why I am buying pantyhose.
  11. You're on! Will call you everytime I go....just in case.
  12. Yeah, kind of thinking I will base the whole Summer video off of this new thing. I was really excited that I had a video camera on when ever I "hooked" the fish (I really don't know what to call it since there is really no "hook" involved ) It was pretty dark by the time I landed it and got around to getting some video....and I was by myself. Got some cool stuff though. This was my first ever Gar. I had watched my wife, brother-in-law, and several buddies hook gar on spinning gear but I had never hooked one. It was awesome and I will be doing this a lot now.
  13. It was COOL!
  14. A couple of weeks ago I took my brother-in-law on a float from Cook's to Tecumseh to chase all things warm water. He was spin fishing and catching some fish......and then he hooked a HUGE gar. This completely messed my head up so I decided it was time to chase them. I tied up some rope flies and put in at Cook's Landing for a short float down to the Mill Pond. The style of fishing is really cool because it is very visual, you see them gulp air and make a cast to them--pretty easy. I got 3 or 4 follows and an eat from a real small fish (rope didn't get tangled in its teeth) and then got an eat from a large fish (again the rope didn't get tangled)......and then I got an eat from another large fish, and the rope tangled. I was by myself, messing with 3 video cameras, fighting the fish, and rowing my drift boat over to the bank while I was fighting the fish (I wish I could have been on the bank watching that whole thing because it would have been hilarious). 49"
  15. Bait.....and if it really was 36 pounds the guide holding had to be pushing the 450lb mark. Just saying.
  16. HUGE fan of the Home Invader! I started replacing Fox with Craft Fur and haven't looked back....on any fly.
  17. Should be good to go now.
  18. Hog Snares are done.....I call this photo "Dinner is served".
  19. Actually, I changed my mind. I am going to do a fly that I haven't done a video on......The Hog Snare. That's right, TRIPLE articulated and catches rainbows that break your reel.
  20. I am going to jump on mine this weekend. I am thinking Double Deceiver.....RFD is helping out the guys that aren't throwing big gear--I am going the other way. :-)
  21. I don't know how booked they are, especially for a Friday, but Sunburst has sleeper cabins that are priced right.
  22. There are a TON of big browns in Summer-time holds on the river right now....floating now is kind of like going to a zoo. I would be crazy proud of a 25" rainbow Ham, we have a few really big 'bows but not many. The NFOW simply doesn't grow really, really big rainbows. If you think about it I would venture to say that if there are 100 24"+ rainbows caught state wide in Missouri per year that 99 of them are brood stock from hatcheries. I think the opposite of the triploid fish is what is happening on the NFOW. Triploid fish don't spawn at all--so they do nothing but grow. Our rainbows spawn, and spawn well and I think that is the main reason behind them not growing to really, really big sizes. Which is ok because I don't think I could land a NFOW rainbow that is bigger than 25". With the browns in the river this streamer season is looking to be pretty good.
