I really had to make myself not post a report as soon as I got home! I had an absolutely awesome time with you guys--epic numbers from 2 insanely good fisherman. Not to correct you...well, yeah I guess to correct you. We fished on water around 700 cfs and stellar wade fishing is around 400. Too bad motroutbums PIG was camera shy... Brian

Thanks Greg, a couple of buddies and I are putting together an epic trip and the Roubidoux is one of our 10 or so stops in a one weekend of fishing. What would you recommend we use and do you have any directions for fishing areas? Brian

I see the Roubidoux listed on the MDC Trout Streams map. Anyone have any info on this? Brian

The C&F Hook Pallets are make really nice midge boxes. They were originally for storing hooks for tying but I have seen more and more people using these as midge boxes. C&F Hook Pallet Brian

The show went really well. I was thinking when schedules went out that they would specify what demo I was doing at what time....yeah it was more like "Fly Casting Demo at the pool at 11:00." So basically as people came in I talked to them a little to get a feel for what kind of people were coming in which about 95% of them were new. So basically both of the demos and the classroom stuff was beginners fly fishing. Did a lot with kids too which is always cool. What is it about girls and woman that they just pick it up--and quick! Brian

Sorry Greg. River levels below 700 cfs are for sure fishable but I look for levels between 400 and 500 after a rise like we had late last week for that dropping water to start to level off. Did you make it down? Brian

I'm with FFM. If the water I am fishing allows a 2 fly rig I will be fishing one if I am nymphing. To add to the list of tips that have been given so far I will add this. If your first fly is barbless do not tie your dropper onto that fly at the hook, it will slip off. If you are fishing a barbless hook as your top fly I would suggest tying your dropper to the eye of the top fly, it can be a pain if the eye is small but it will stay on. The way I look at dropper fishing is that in a lot of water we fish we have to add weight to a one fly rig and that weight (split shot, putty, etc) does not have a hook and does not look like a bug! It kind of drives me crazy to put enough shot on the line to get a smaller fly to the bottom. Having said that though a lot of the time I still have to add weight above the top fly. Brian

Yeah, I have to agree the old site was....well, OLD! I do like how they put a personal spin on 'some' things, like when the CF magnetic divided hook holders came out they were the first place I heard about those being sweet midge boxes. Brian

Hey guys, Fished the islands above Patrick for a couple of hours today. Started at the second island and worked my way back down. Literally picked up fish everywhere. A few browns, a lot of 'bows and most of the 'bows were not the fiesty young of the year fish like we have been catching like crazy for a few months now. Big fish was a 17" 'bow. Fished a golden rubber leg with a small egg dropped to start with and picked up fish equally on both flies. Switched to a black rubber leg with the egg and the bite turned almost totally to the rubber leg. This was the first trip I had taken with a "tweaked" rubber leg since I ran out of chenille(how do you run out of chenille? ) and started dubbing the bodies on my rubber legs. I do have to say that a dubbed bodied rubber leg is grossly buggy though. Did see some rising fish during a sporadic BWO hatch. Brian

I have a Fishpond Cloudburst bag. I do have to say that it was a gift becuase I wouldn't have paid that kind of $$ for it. I really do like the bag, not only sexy but functional. It is considered a gear/boat bag, in the back it has gunwale hooks that can be zipped up to stay out of the way (super cool) and it also has a rain cover that completely covers the bag and then zips away in its own little pouch as well. The only thing is with the rain cover....it only works if it is covering the bag. It's not so big that I don't want to bring it into the drifter but it isn't too small either, just right. Brian

We usually catch one or two small (really small) browns a year on the NFOW that I asume are wild. Like Gavin said, they for sure go through the motions and it would be hard to believe that NO eggs produce out of the 10's of thousand (or hundreds of thousands) that are layed. Brian

jackaroe, As of right now we will need more water coming through the NFOW and Bryant for the fish to make it up them very far at all. I am from Gainesville and fish that water hard during the White Bass runs. I am usually throwing a fly but still hook up with walleye every once in a while. I would probably agree with Jeremy, most of the people that are consistant in catching the walleye in that area are fishing bait....but if the fish do get on a rogue bite it can get stupid pretty quick! Hey Bill! I would have to work on that one.... Although I do have a month, I might be able to come up with a trick casting demo. Not long to go before the whites run Bill, there are a few stripers being caught now and then at Tecumseh. Brian
