  1. I recently was turned on to a different indicator than I usually use while fishing midges. Instead of the smallest round toothpick style indicator or palsa they are a little longer almost Pill shaped (still toothpick style about 1/2" long.) When the fish takes it will start to turn and point upstream before it starts to go under. I believe these will show a strike noticeably quicker than a round indicator or palsa's because of that slight turn. $.02 Brian
  2. Hey guys, With heavy rains coming to the ozarks last week, rivers rose! The North Fork of the White rose to 9000 CFS, it was running around 200 cfs before the rain. We needed some high water to clean out the river a little, but ideally we need a little more. The water is coming down now (running 519 cfs) and the fishing should be really good around this weekend. 400 cfs is the magic number on the North Fork of the White it seems like everytime the water gets up when it hits that 400 cfs it fishes really good for a long time after that. We had just switched sizes of most of the flies we were using before the high water, we started going real small. After the high water bump those sizes up a little. I would go 10-14's for Hare's Ears, Princes, Pheasant Tails, and Copper Johns. The Stonefly bite should pick up anytime, and the high water could totally turn that bite on. Egg patterns are flat out going to pick up fish this time of year. All in all it is good to see the river rolling with some high water again, because we know that after high water comes good fishing. 3. Phil, I have been seriously thinking about trying my hand at tying my own leaders.....this may be where I start. Brian
  4. I'll second jOrOb on a skinnier profile. Very rarely do I use weight in my scuds unless I am fishing pretty deep water like some of the faster moving holes on the Norfork (AR). Brian
  5. Seth, You may have already seen this but... http://www.ozarkchronicles.com/flybox/patt...g/SOSsowbug.htm I know a couple guys that swear by them. If I were wanting a little bigger body on a scud I'd wrap some lead and then flatten it with some needle nose pliers. Brian
  6. Jim, What do you mean by get water out of the lake? As in Mt. Home is going to use it? Brian
  7. Phil, We are still seeing the HUGE white Caddis all day every day.....spradically but all day everyday. There are still Trico's coming off but they are coming off a little later in the day when the temps rise a little. Last weekend we saw some Blue Winged Olives, a few but not a ton of them. It's pretty much your typical Fall, everything is coming off. The down side is you have to catch the fish before they get full, the mornings have been great. Brian
  8. Another big thanks to Phil for this AWESOME forum. The North Fork of the White is near and dear to me......great Wild trout stream!! Looking forward to keeping everyone up-to-date on the river and how (and more importantly) where it's fishing. Brian
  9. Ready and rarin' to go! Brian
