  8. I like to use the cheap red cajun line as a backer in 8 and 10 pound test depending on how big of line I am adding to my reel. I like the red because it allows me to see when my spool is starting to run low. Just something I prefer.
  9. Do you guys have any idea if Tucker ramp is open? After seeing pics of the Kings being froze over on the Rock I am wondering what BS looks like on this end of the lake. I am heading out with fishintherock Wed. Thanks

  12. Heartland Team Series is Sat and Heartland Pro AM is Sunday. Both out of Ahoy's.
  13. Thanks Donna! How did things end up today (Sunday)? Mostly smallies and spots weighed in this weekend or were there quite a few blacks brought to the scales. Thanks
  14. Does anyone know what is leading either of the derbys on the Rock today. I know CPAA had a team derby and I think there is a MO Federation tournament of some sort as well. Just wondering if anyone knew what was leading either.
  15. I believe it is 8:00. It might be 7:30 but I know for sure it is not open at 7. They stay open till 6 or 7 in the evening as well.
  16. bow- I fished both Cedar and Wilson. Cedar more than Wilson but both are good KS fisheries. I know some real good areas on Cedar but the lake struggles to maintain its water level. I have caught smallies near the dam on Cedar but always small ones. tpierce gave some good advice for Wilson. Main lake and secondary points--hit alot of them. Rock Chalk!
  17. We can not help the fact that Mr. Babler has no taste! Rock Chalk Jayhawk Bill!!!!! I am a Kansas boy transplanted by choice in MO! bownarrow where did you go to college? I graduated from Fort Hays State! What KS lakes do you fish?
  18. Bill, Thanks for the report but I have to let you know that I could find you a pretty Jayhawk for that hat of yours!! It would look a hell of a lot better than that M! Rock Chalk!! Freak
  19. Bill Babler or Bill Beck! I have a the opportunity to fish with both gentlemen and they are as knowledgeable and nice as any two you will find. You can not go wrong with either one!!!
  20. One of the things that I am going to do this year is fish crankbaits more. From early spring with the stickbait and wart to DD22's and fat frees in the summer and back to warts and square bills in the fall. This is something that is fairly new to me. I have not been much of a cranker in the past and I am looking for any pointers that may help. Equipment pointers as far as line size for different cranks to rod selection and reel speeds--what do you guys prefer for each bait? What modifications do you guys make to these baits? I am sure most replace hooks but do you use the standard snap clips or do you use something different? Any pointers would be appreciated!
  21. I have been doing some thinking (not usually a good thing) and I am wanting to get some information from some of you who fish many more days a year than I do! What is the natural color of crawdads during each season--spring, summer, fall, and winter. I know back in July the crawdads on TR were so orange that they looked like a sweat potato. I was wondering what color the majority of crawdads tend to be during each season (green, brown, orange ect.) and do you guys think that the type of water--say muddy vs. clear has a drastic impact on their coloring? If you compare TR to LOZ or Truman do the crawdads vary in color or are they pretty much the same in all the Ozark region lakes? Any info is much appreciated!
  22. captmac, The 10 day forecast has us with mid 90's and sun--oh boy I love to sweat! We better catch them early or we may be in touble.
  23. Techo, Awful weird--my trailer lights started doing the same things last week. Brake lights and turn signals all work but no running lights. I need to figure mine out as well.
  24. techo, I can not make Friday work but lets get together there some morning next week and talk a little fish talk and have a cup of joe!
  25. Gary, It is on 160 across from Wal-Mart. It is just south of the Wild Fork catering place. Great coffee.
