  1. Flysmallie, I will give you a call on Wed. I am very interested in visiting with you and getting into more detail. I live in Nixa so maybe we could meet up sometime. Thanks for the info. Matt
  2. I am wanting to get started custom painting my own cranks and stickbaits. I am looking for any info I can get. For instance what style of airbrush do some of you who do this use--single or double action? What size of tip do you prefer and do you prefer gravity feed or hose feed for your paint? Do you use oil base auto paint or does acrylic paint work? Basicly I am looking for any starter info and tips anyone can give me. I have done some research on the internet but I want to get some input from someone who does this. Thanks in advance.
  3. Coyote, Bill described it perfectly. Go to any local tackle store and ask them to show you their shakey heads, they all should have them. I prefer a 3/16th ounce head personally and I fish mine on 8 pound test florocarbon line and spinning tackle. Any finesse worm will work but like anything else you will find a certain bait and color you start to prefer. I really like the 5 inch slim senko. Just take your bait and twist it on the bait holder, rig it weedless and start fishing with any of the methods Bill mentioned above. It does take some getting used to but with time you will pick it up no problem.
  4. Lilly, I am sure you have seen it. It has a green flaked back--a buddy of mine picked them up out of a hand grab bin where color names are not given so I don't know the official color name.
  5. Coyote, I have not fished that area for three weeks now but there was a decent shaky head bite going on in the Indian Pt. area. We were finding fish in the 15 to 25 foot range holding to the bottom. Structure did not seem to be to big an issue as we caught fish on pea gravel and chunck rock banks both.
  6. Two of us fished Long Creek for crappie today and had an ok day. We caught 11 total--nothing big but 11 nice crappie. We were pulling white with green flake swimming minnows (1/8th oz heads) along the bottom very slowly. Fished were mainly holding on the bottom between 15 and 20 feet.
  7. Bill, We played with the deep fish around Kimberling so we could further learn our electronics. He was a huge help. Thanks for the info on the rod. I may get ahold of you this week on the Rod Shop rod. Do use the Falcon original or Cara? What kind of price do the Rod Shop rods go for?
  8. Bill, What brand of rod do you use for your stickbaits. I fished with Bill Beck last Sunday and he was using an All Star rod if I remember correctly. Do you prefer med. light over med. action? Just curious what rod you are using because I am thinking of getting a new stickbait rod. Thanks
  9. Sorry Terry---I was thinking of Powersite not the Bull Shoals Dam. It is only a 20 minute drive to Powersite.
  10. polock It is about a 20 minute drive.
  11. How big was she???? Did you catch her on a stickbait?
  12. Just wondering if anyone made it out today. The temp was nice but I heard it was a bit windy down by the lake. I wanted to be out fishing all day and couldn't make it. I hope somebody got out caught them.
  13. I like to throw my stick baits on spinning tackle. I have a 6'2 medium action rod. I like this only for comfort reasons and added distance with casts with some lighter jerkbaits. I have been throwing mine on 10 lb test line but may down size to 8 pound line. I also prefer mono over floro because it gives me a little stretch. Is this a totally abnormal set up in your guys mind???
  14. So you guys fish the rogues in the early season and the pointers and x-raps later??????
  15. Anglers Tackle Box in Nixa has a Table Rock colored spinnerbait that he makes with two toned blades (1/2 white, 1/2 purple on one side and silver on the other) that he sells for $3.00 each.
  16. I was just wondering if anyone has been having any luck on walleye or crappie between Powersite and K-Dock. I waded the banks around Barkers Hole back on the 5th of Jan. and caught one nice 20 in walleye on a stickbait after dark but was just wondering if anyone had been out lately and having any luck on either the 'eyes' or crappie. I am assuming with all the rain in the last couple weeks that wading for walleyes around Barkers especially would be tough. I may have to get the boat out. Thanks in advance.
  17. Bill and Bill, What type of swivel is that you have tied to your Lucky Craft. Do you guys always fish a swivel with your stickbaits or do you tie them directly to the bait as well. I usually just tie mine directly to the bait but I was curious if there is an advantage for the swivel (action, easy changing of stickbaits ect) and if it was just a snap swivel or something "special" that catches 9 lb fish. It had to be the swivel!!! Thanks
  18. I agree with you totally on the depth of the fish. I was a bit suprised to see fish that shallow this time of year as well. We kept the boat in 35 feet of water all morning. I hope to get out again soon.
  19. What a pig. Nice fish guys.
  20. Well since I finally got out and caught some fish I have to post. Two of us hit the water at 8:00 this morning and fished till 11. We managed to put 8 fish in the boat and had 4 solid keepers--two spots and two brownies. We also lost three fish and missed a few due to the bite being real soft. All our fish came off the shaky head between 15 and 25 feet in the Indian Pt. area. Bottom structure did not seem to matter much--we caught them on pea gravel, chunck rock, and ledge rock-flats and points. We would have fished a bit longer but the freezing rain started falling.

  22. I fell for it. For a second I thought man SKMO is one dedicated son of a gun!
  23. I am so glad I am not the only one who has days like this. SKMO thanks for your great reports--I always enjoy reading them.
  24. Thanks for the report SKMO. I hope to get out real soon.
  25. Any news on the Bassmaster Series Event going on at Table Rock right now. Anyone know who is leading and how the fisherman are doing? Just curious where the fish are being caught.
