I would love to get out and give it a shot but I have been enjoying all the time I can get with my newborn son Miles. My wife and I had our first 17 days ago so we have had our hands full!! You guys will have to get out there and tell me how it is for a while. Bill B. Would you let me pick your brain about Lake of the Ozarks sometime soon?? I know you know a bit about that lake as well!!! Keep the post coming boys--I have to live through you guys for a while!!!

Well I got out this morning for a couple hours. Fished right around K-City and had ok luck. I found fish between 53 and 67 feet of water in creek mouths. Fished seemed to get more active around mid to late morning (about the time I had to leave). I had one fish before 10 and then they turned on a bit. I had a lot of fish hit the spoon but had a little trouble hooking up. They would only hit it on the first fall or as it set STILL. If I jigged it at all they ran. They seemed to prefer the spoon over the grub this morning. Anyone else make it out?

Well my dad and I got out Sat. from 7 till 12:30 with no luck what so ever. I had talked with Bill Friday night and his report could not be more correct but we could not get the fish to bite a dang thing. We fished 11 different locations--mainly creek/cove mouths and marked good concentrations of fish in 5 of them. Depths were exactly where Bill mentioned but the fish would stare right at our lures and then run. We fished spoons and grubs switching colors from smoke, to smoke purple, white, milky s & p, watermelon red, they would not hit a thing. We tried being real aggressive with our baits to just shaking them to not moving them at all but the fish would either swim right up to it and not take it or run from it????? This brings me to my question for all of you. With the way the weather was Sat morning (overcast, pre-front conditions) do you think it put the fish in a passive mood? Is it better pre-front or post-front this time of year? It was frustrating because the fish were there but they wanted nothing to do with us?

fishrman, To my knowledge the LCX 17M is the same graph as the 27C except the 27 is a color graph. I own the 17M and love it. It is a great graph and has all the watts and pixels you need. I personally am looking to purchase a new graph so I can move the 17 to my dash. I have been looking at both the 27 an 37 but I would not hesitate to add another 17 either but I want color.

Anyone have any final results? I had hoped to make it down for the weigh-in this afternoon but was not able to.

I was just wondering how tough the fishing on the Rock has been this past week with the high temps. I got out last Sunday and had two bites with no fish. Fish we few and far between. Anyone catching them?

I have been fortunate enough to fish with Bill B. and he is a great fisherman and more importantly a great guy. He will put you on fish!

Does anyone know where you can buy a Roadrunner style jighead in 1/4 oz or bigger weight with 3/0 or 4/0 size hooks? Roadrunner does not make them with that big of hooks. Blakemore does have one new style of head out that is very good and I have caught fish off it but it is around $4.50 for three heads. I was just wondering if someone knew somebody local who made jigheads with spinner blades in that size with that big of a hook. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know of any websites with pictures? I did a search of local newspapers but found few pictures today. I heard the amount of water was unbelievable.

I had heard Grand was really rising. I also heard Truman was way up. Those rains have really caused some trouble. Anyone heard about the oil spill in Coffeyville, KS? Any idea if the oil has gotten into the run off water?

Does anyone on here ever fish the CATT (Competitive Anglers Tournament Trail) derbys on Table Rock? There are a few coming up in the next couple weeks and I was just curious if anyone knew anything about them. How many boats are there usually? Any help would be appreciated.

My lips are sealed. What is the purpose of one guy surveying the same area every weekend--example being the Baxter area. Why have someone out in a MO Conservation boat asking fisherman how they are doing virtually every weekend yet not haveing someone out there checking licences and limits?
-
Sad, Sad, Sad. I have never eaten a spot but I wouldn't think that they would even taste that good. Do the MO Conservation officers "patrol" The Rock much? I have never even had my licence checked on The Rock.
-
SKMO--what are you catching your gills off of? Crickets? How do you fish for them? I have never done this and would like to give it a try sometime. I have heard bluegill are great eating.

It doesn't take long for the jet skiers and pleasure boaters to get started and run a guy off. I saw jet skiers as early as 7:00 this morning.

I have had the luck of getting out on the lake quite a bit in the last week and we have had some success. I will give you a short summary of our week. Wed. 6/20-- Scarecrow and I had the great opportunity to fish with Bill Babler. Bill took us over to Shell Knob and put us on some dropshot fish. We finished the morning with 15 fish and 3 keeps and one nice walleye!! We caught most of our fish in water depth in the upper 20's on points and flats. We had a great time and Bill is an unbeliveably great guy with a tremendous amount of knowledge on Table Rock. Thanks a bunch Bill! Fri. 6/22--Scarecrow and I fished up the James and caught quite a few fish and had two nice keeps. We had an 18 inch smallie and one nice black that weighed just under 4lbs. All our fish came on football jigs in water between 5 and 15 feet on main lake points and flats. Sun. 6/24--I went out early this a.m. for a few hours by myself. I started by throwing football jigs on main lake points between K-City and Baxter with no luck. I then went a little deeper and looked for some fish to dropshot and started finding them. I ended the morning with 15 fish and 7 keeps. All my fish came btw 30 and 35 feet of water off main lake points and humps. None of the fish were hogs but all nice spots. All my keepers were btw 15 and 15 1/2 inches and all the shorts were just barely short. I have heard before that fish school according to size--I don't know if this is really true but all 15 of the fish I caught would have measured within an inch or less of each other. Does anyone know if there is truth to this theory? I am posting a few pictures. Take a look at the one with the shad. Every fish I caught was spitting up shad all the way to the surface and all were the size of the one in the picture or bigger. If I found shad, I found fish. The bite was great from 6:30 to 8 and then died off. I was still marking fish but they didn't want to play. I don't know if any of this info helps anyone or not but get out and find the shad and you will find fish! OK--so I guess I don't know how to attach pictures. I will try again.

It has been down for me since Friday afternoon. I also found out how addicted to this site I am, I probably checked it 25 times yesterday to see if it was back up!

I need your help with the painting thing. I have been so busy with work that I have not spent a lot of time with it yet. I still need to get my air brush fine tuned--do you know how to do that?

Scarecrow and I hit the water at 5 this evening and fished till 8 with some luck. We fished from Aunts to just past pt 9 up the White River. We had 4 shorts on football jigs with those fish coming out of 10-15 feet of water. We did manage to miss a few fish as well. We also did a little drop shotting and managed to pick up a couple nice spots. These fish were really hugging the bottom and came between 25 and 30 feet of water. Very few boats out this evening--probably due to the anticipated weather. We got lucky and had a nice night on the water. I don't know if this helps anyone or not but thought I would post anyway.

I had the tots you left in my freezer from the last fish fry at my place!! It was all very tastey!!

A 6lb 8oz spot---now that is a pig!

I have fished the upper portion of the lake twice in the last week. We have been putting in at River Run and heading towards Beaver Creek. We are trolling shad raps with little action. In two trips we have caught 4 walleye with two being 19 inches and the other two just shy of 18 and still swimming. No white bass at all. Anyone else been out? I would like to put a couple more in the freezer but I am going to be fishing Table Rock the next couple weeks.

I worked in Mt. Vernon today and all the low lying areas were running like rivers. The James near Nixa is MUDDY. Fished the Friday night derby out of Cape Fair last Friday and things were very muddy with quite a bit of junk in the water. If you get out be careful.

Great comment Rolan. This is a great site that we all can learn from. We owe a big thanks to Phil like you mentioned as well as Bill B. and many others who take the time to contribute on a regular basis. I know there insite and general information has made me a better fisherman. Bill takes time out of his busy schedule to post on here and help each and every one of us out. Thanks again guys! FF
