  1. yeah.....go to any other faster moving water and do the same thing
  2. if you went to tulsa yesterday i should have just rode with you to the airport....hahaha.
  3. i rarely miss fish with any hook ups, becuase i hardly ever just dead drift flies, and never use an indicator. if you sight fish to a single fish, then your chances of success will increase and your hook up percentage will also increase. i know most of you are thinking well i cant see my fly...you dont have to see your fly!!! just approximate where your drift is with the flow of the water, and then watch the fish you are fishing for and if the fish's mouth opens or he moves to one side or the other then set the hook. if you are indicator fishing, make sure that your indicator is down stream of your flies. that way you can have the quickest reaction strike. if your flies are down stream, the fish will have taken your fly and spit it out before you will have even noticed anything. just my 2 cents, see ya on sunday btw....wish you all were here to experience the blizzard caddis we have on the animasa right now, we floated last night and couldnt hardly see there were so many. it was deffinitely the most awesome natural phenomenon i have ever experienced...the fishing was really good too
  4. ill be there with my dad and brother on sunday.....look for the red hat around rebar
  5. the caddis blew up today and the fishing will be awesome on the animas from now till september...i wish i was on the water and not sitting in the shop.
  6. i hope you arent on restriction a week from tuesday when i come to town. ive been fishing this tiny mountain stream that is 5 min from my house. man o man what a blast. i dont think ive ever had so much fun catching 4-10 in trout in my life. the water is only calf deep and gin clear tons of pocket water. the only fly i need is an elk hair caddis. ill have some video of it when i come home randy
  7. well im glad that i could be of service to you...hahaha. I will deffinitely bring info on the big thompson. my boss just got done fishing for the US team trials up there. His team got first and he got 6th overall. I wish i was home right now too. we got pounded with rain last night and the river climbed back over the 2000 cfs mark. this has deffinitely been a weird spring because they hardly got any snow and weve had extremely hot and dry weather till last night. congrats on the trip to the upper mo.....too bad youll miss part of the fall run...i guess ill just have to catch a 30lber for you!! randy
  8. if you dont, its alright. the list is just some odds and ends things that i need to pick up. i cant wait to fish with you.
  9. thats the way to tell a striped shiner becuase they dont have any stripes thats the way to tell a striped shiner becuase they dont have any stripes
  10. That sounds great to me. It will be good to do some night fishing at home since most people dont believe in it out here. oh and by the way ill have that list for you when i come into your shop. haha. ive made about 5 different ones and each time it keeps getting bigger.
  11. well neither of those fish...ie gold eye or skipjack herring are in this watershed go fish....... no pun intended with the link, i thought the whole thing started because someone found them dead! so if there was a picture of one of the dead fish, then id tell you what they were..i have better things to do than sit and look at the troutcam enough to see what kind of "minnows" they are. like fish
  12. My name is randy....haha you could call me a bum if you want. won't bother me. i know for a fact that ill be down on fathers day with my dad and brother. i gave him a loomis rod back in january cause he wanted to get started in fly fishing.....so far he is having a blast

  14. As much as its the wrong time of the season to leave colorado, ill be coming back to take care of some personal business for a few days. im coming back on the 16th and leaving on the 22nd. so ill be down at the dam fishing for probably 2 days of my visit. if you see me say hello. ill be wearing a red caddis company hat!!!
  15. Are there more than one type or brand of super hair for Craven's JuJu series of flies? ive known about these flies for a while now and I finally decided to start tying them, but I can't figure out the super hair situation. the bodies of the flies that i am looking at look like a different kind of material than the "Super Hair" that I'm tying them with. The stuff i am using is made by best way. if there is something that im missing out on then somone please help me out!!!!
  16. if you were gonna throw that stuff, i would just throw a regualr 6 ft spinning rod with 8-10 lb maxima
  17. Thats probably the best story that ive read of brigmans
  18. Glenn is still there. He is the only guy in there that i like. the rest of the guys in there just want your money. That really turned me off to them the first time i went in. Glen only works on mon, wed, fri. hey butts hows the striper fishin?
  19. I hope someone decides to report on the fishing below the dam soon. I live vicariously through all you guys especially when the animas is still rinning at 3,000+ cfs. at least give me some kind of fish porn to lust over. They just turned on the juan the other day and are gonna be running it for a while and its at 2,000+cfs.
  20. I found you some water to fish for some brookies...heading east out of ps...go over wolf creek pass and when you get down, the south fork is on the right hand side of the road when yo uare heading east. it is all PUBLIC they will smack anything that floats...also lime and hermosa creek which are just north of durango maybe 15 min should be fishing excellent when you are here. williams creek north of pagosa is also a good creek to fish sources tell me its a micro tailwater(micro compared to taney hahaha)and it generally fishes good right now, but tends to get fished out by mid season, but its worth a shot
  21. im looking at it as i type this reply. The station is at 5th and main and tthe shop is at 6th and main caddy corner to the General Palmer Hotel on the second level. Maybe i could get you to sneak away and maybe we could fish the Animas for a couple hours or so. i can also see it from the shop. some of the best fishing is right behind the double tree hotel. the shop isnt that big but it gets us by. There are only 2 guides this summer for it...Me and the boss. Hes actually fishing in boulder for the U.S Flyfishing team trials which start next friday. His name is Brian Capsay. he fished against our own John Wilson in the last of the ESPN Great Outdoor games.
  22. when you are out here you should stop in and vist me in the shop...it would be good to see some familiar faces way out west!
  23. im not from durango.....im from carthage, mo...i just moved out here beacause i was offered a guide job.
  24. be glad you live there and not out here type in 81301 for durango and see what you get
