What Should We Do About Mass Shootings?
hfdhoosier replied to jdmidwest's topic in New News and General Discussion
Chicago has probably the toughest gun laws in the country, they dont allow you to possess one, they also have one of the highest occurences of gun violence. Gun laws dont work, only the law abiding citizen obeys laws. Criminals will get guns illegally if the laws were changed to ban all guns. The difference would be that law abiding citizen would have given his guns up and wouldnt be able to defend himself from these criminals with guns. The constituition states the right to bear arms, not for hunting or sport, but to be able to defend ourselves including against a tyrranical government. The settlers came to America and fought against their own government to create this free country. As we see, gun free zones do not work. I dont know what the answer is to the mass shootings, but taking guns from law abiding citizens is not the answer. -

There Are Big Rainbows Still In Taneycomo...
hfdhoosier replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Nice fish, Thanks for the videos, makes me want to go fishing soon. It is great you took care of that fish so others could catch him at a later date. Good job Phil. -
Yes, Johnny Morris owns Big Cedar in partner with Bluegreen timeshares, they have built a new resort called Paradise point close to Big Cedar also. I am a Bluegreen Timeshare member, I bought into the timeshare in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I enjoy the timeshare, its a point based plan which allows you to stay at multiple resorts around the country at any time you want based on vacancy. I bought my points off ebay for little of nothing, bluegreen charges about $2 a point and I was able to get 10,000 points for $152 off ebay. I have never ran into a rude salesman but when I tell them I am already a bluegreen member they say they cant help me out. moral of the story is, tell them you are a bluegreen member and they will immediately leave you alone. Its a shame that some of the salespeople pressure people the way you all have stated. I know the sales represenatives at the resorts work on commission, so i am assuming the ones at BPS do also. The salesman at Big Cedar told us that the statistics show 90% of the people coming into the timeshare sales pitch are dead set not to buy into the timeshare but with sales pressure 60% end up buying in. I am sorry to hear some of you had to put up with uncalled for sales tactics.

I second the zebra midge and scud. Zebras in red with black or silver rib, rusty (orange) with black rib, and black with gold or siver rib. Thats about all I fish with anymore. I too have better luck in fast water, lots of good fish in there and alot of people pass it up. Good luck when you go and looking forward to reading the fishing report.

I just bought Simms Rivertek vibram soled boots and tried them out for 10 days ay Montauk and the Current river. I liked the comfortableness of them, they have lots of soft foam in them and they felt as comfortable as my tennis shoes. I loved the boa cable lacing system, very easy to get on and with a turn of the knob was tightened without having shoestrings to tie. I had Chota SLT felt before these and the vibram rubber was very close to the grip I had with felt. The only down side I noticed with them is the soft foam I mentioned before soaked up a lot of water and retained it making the boots heavier when walking from the stream to my truck. I did not notice the extra weight in the stream, and I think might have added to the grip of the vibram sole on the stream bed. They are pricey at $169, but I would rate them highly, I was very pleased with their performance.
