Rcguy, We had light mist on Sat and heavy rain on Sun (on and off) but the fish were biting so it was tolerable. Caught most fish on a size 20 black zebra midge with gold beadhead and gold rib. no huge fish caught but some real nice ones. The wife and I got trapped by the ice storm that came in early on Sun. so we stayed an extra night and left on Mon, the wife felt more comfortable with me driving in daylight than at dark. Hope we can hook up and do some fishing together this winter. Im tied up till after the holidays now. Good luck if you go. If that marabou leech works, I'll have to beg you for the recipe. Dennis

The Ozark Flyfishers are having an outing @ Montauk Dec 7-9. I joined the St Louis based club 2 months ago. The wife and I went to Bennett with them in Nov. and had a great time. The wife and I will be at Montauk late Fri night and fish Sat. and Sunday. We are staying in our pop-up at Eagles Park. Anyone else planning to be there? Come on down and enjoy the fishing. Dennis

JJ: Our deepest sympathy. We lost our dog of 13 years this year. They are truly mankinds best friend. We had to put Patches down because she became paralized in the back legs and was in pain. hardest thing Ive had to do in my life to date. Our prayers are with you friend. Dennis and Sheila

I had a great time at the OFF outing. Good company, great fishing, good food, and great weather. I met up with JJtroutbum on Sunday and we caught lots of fish. Also, watched my wife outfish us both. We got checked by the game warden also, we all had the proper license and such. We thanked them for checking and keeping an eye out for those breaking the law. After they left, JJ said He's glad they didnt discover his outstanding warrant, whats that all about. hahaha I caught fish on almost every midge I had in my box. Gold bead headed zebra midge with gold wire had to be my best tho. I received alot of flies in this forums last swap and caught fish on most of them. Thanks to all that tied the flies from the last swap, they were great. I fished the riffles below the road bridge on Sat. and we fished the hatchery outlet on Sun. My wife caught her fish on variations of the zebra midge and a gray scud. She caught 2 small browns. I saw a guy catch a 4-5 lb brown in the riffles below the road bridge on Sat. Al from OFF told me about fishing a zebra midge dropper off a glow ball and I want to Thank him, caught numerous fish on Sun. using that technique. Caught 3 fish on JJ's green butt soft hackle also. Thanks to all that helped us out this weekend. If you are in the St Louis area you need to consider joinig OFF, great bunch of guys and gals. I dont get kickbacks for that either. Dennis

PHW: The first OFF meeting I went to had a speaker that was talking about stream-teams. I think OFF is wanting to be more active in the preservation of our streams. You would really enjoy talking to this club, the two meetings I have been to were really informative and entertaining. Its a bunch of good guys and gals, they made me feel welcome from day one; very friendly. I hope you can make it to fish with us. Dennis

Im looking forward to meeting the OFF members. I have went to 2 mtgs. I joined at the last meeting. Yeah it sounds like Ill have as much fun off the river as on. Good eats, happy hour, and trout fishing; I must have died and gone to heaven. I always take my tying supplies along, I lose enough flies sometimes that I have to restock at night. Dennis

I ordered her some 5mm neoprene waders with 2000 gram Thinsulate in the boots from SportsmansGuide. Gotta keep her warm while on the river. We are staying at the motel in the park. Flyfshn: I understand completely, Opener in Illinois is the 16th. I will be in the woods that weekend, if you get that turdy point buck, we all want to see pictures. Got my flies today. they all look great. Thank you MIKE for hosting this swap. I will be trying these out the first weekend of catch and release at Bennett. Gonna have to get the vise out and try to master some of these patterns. Dennis

The Ozark FlyFishers club in St Louis is getting together for a catch and release outing at Bennett Springs. My wife and I will be there to fish Sat and Sun. Come and join in the fun, the more the merrier. Will hopefully have a good fishing report to post after the trip. Dennis

I was trying to get a site at BSSP for Nov 9-11. My wife called the BSSP office and was told that half of campground 1 is open but all the sites were already taken. She was told that there are 7 first come first serve, I beleive in campground 1 but the other campgrounds are closed. Doesnt sound like campground 5 is open this winter. My wife talked to Jim Rodgers. He did open up an extra motel room for us at $72 a night, with kitchenette. He did say a cabin was also open that w/end for $108 a night. Id say make sure to call before going to see what they have available. Thought this might help anyone planning on going to BSSP for catch and release this winter. Dennis

Flyfishn: You are right, I wasnt aiming anything at you. I did not get any money back but a friend of mine had got the tickets for Christmas from his family so it didnt cost us anything for the tickets. We pulled my pop-up and staid at a State campground so it only cost us gas and campsite. Long drive tho, 8 hours. I agree he did whine alot earlier in his career, not quite as bad now. He could have whined about Kenseth spinning him but it was clearly Gordons fault, he was a lot looooooose. I was disapointed that the race got rained out but have decided to try my luck again next year. I am looking forward to JR coming to Hendrich next year, hes agood driver and deserves a good ride. I love the chase and its anyone of the 12 to win in 3 races. Stone: Kurt Busch isnt one of my favorites but you wont get any flack from me. May the best driver race for the championship. Could really care less who wins it as long as the racin is good. HFDHOOSIER
