  1. I will be down there the 23rd thru the 30th of this month. I usually only fish the fly area. I love the shaded stretch with the cliff wall on the other bank. Have started to fish right below the road bridge too.
  2. Not a chance! I'll stick to fishing Nice clip, those are some crazy kats.
  3. Trav Absolutely, you can flyfish from a boat. No offense intended, just figuring out how to post a pic .
  4. Test http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/hf..._Only_Small.jpg Cool. I think Ive figured it out
  5. Kayser, I will probably come down on the 23rd but will probably not get to fish till the 24th. My friends wont be there till about noon so I will probably start at Tan Vat and fish my way upriver to the park, then walk the road back to Eagles Park, or fish the river back downstream. Hope to run into you. Its always fun to put faces to the names on here.
  6. Britts: You are not jumping our thread, all questions are welcome, at least in my opinion. Eagles Park is my choice because it is more secluded than the Park. Sometimes I am the only one camping there. I know the owners and they keep a good eye on my camper and stuff while I am out fishing. If anyone pulls into the campground that they dont recognize they are out there to greet them. It is less than a 300yd walk to Tan Vat access of the current river. They have 7 Electric/water/sewer slots and the rest is primative camping. The 2 downsides are the road between Montauk and Eagles Park is narrow with cliff on one side and dropoff to the river on the other, and there are no mature trees for shade at Eagles, so in summer you need an awning or tent shelter. Eagles has a shower/bathroom house but it is not heated so it is closed in below freezing weather. In those cases, I always went to the Montauk shower house and restroom. If you decide to go to Eagles, PM me. The website is http://www.eaglespark.com/
  7. I forgot to add Flyfshn to the mix. He's also from St. Louis. Sorry to leave you out man, you are more than welcome to join in. I'm going to Montauk on Mar 23rd and staying till the 30th. I have 4 guys from work going with me till the 26th. They have to leave to get back to work. I'm fishing the 27th - 30th alone if anyone wants to come down. I am staying at Eagles Park in my pop-up in slot 3.
  8. Welcome, glad to have you.
  9. Snow Fly: Sounds like a winning idea to me. Im game for Montauk or Bennett. I usually go to Montauk, but made it to Bennett twice last year. I have a pop-up camper that has 4 beds, if we want to get away for more than the day. I agree, gas is going to be the major expense this year. Better off sharing the cost than everyone paying it on their own. JJTroutbum is over in St.Louis also so us 4 could hook up and go together. I met NoLuck and JJ last year at Bennett at an OAF outing. Im always up to working on my schedule to try to fit in a fishing outing.
  10. I picked up my prescription today so we will see how I do. I got lucky because my insurance paid all but the co-pay and I had a card from the Chantix literature that paid it. No cost to me, I hope this works.
  11. RC, NoLuck, Let me know if you get a date set, My schedule is pretty flexible. With 2 weeks notice I can definitely get off, have to find my own replacement if less than two weeks. Thats not hard to do usually.
  12. Good report NoLuck, wish I couldve went with you. Sounds like you did very well. Im gonna have to give them Y2K's a try.
  13. I made some furled leaders the other day. I bought a DVD that gave step by step instructions on how to make the furling board and then how to make the furlrd leader. I furled up two leaders using 6/0 tying thread and two with 2 lb maxima ultragreen mono. They turned out really good. The DVD also demonstrated how to make the end loops in the leader, that was the toughest part of the construction in my opinion. I can't wait to get out and try these at Montauk later this month. The furled leader setup produced a fishable leader about 5 foot long. The thread leaders seem to turn over the fly well and land very softly, looking forward to casting some dry flies with them. I have been finding different board setups on the web to make different length leaders and different tapers. Just what I need, another addiction.
  14. Welcome
  15. Glad to welcome another Fisher from Illinois
  16. I also got a prescription for Chantix the other day. I think I am going to try it. I also have been using smokrlrss tobacco for 27 years. I think Trav is right that damage is already done and you cant fix that but everything I have read states that the body can start to repair itself over time. I am a paramedic and I see the damage cigarettes and tobacco do to people when they get older. If you quit now. no further damage will occur that hasn't already been done. Good luck to all that try to quit.
  17. Flyfshn: I really like the furled leaders, I haven't had a chance to use mine but they turned out like the ones I bought. I will gladly show you how to make them and give you some samples to try out. I thought about donating the how to DVD to OFF so others can check it out, don't know the legalities with copyright tho. NoLuck gave me a furled leader last year at Bennet and I really liked it. I had used one before and didn't like it cause of the drag in the water. He informed me about dressing it with dry fly mucilin and it worked much better. I use a lot less tippet with the furled leader which saves me money to afford the increase in gas prices.haha Hope to see ya at the next meeting. Maybe even tailgate before the meeting.haha
  18. Its nice to see em earning their money and going for the win instead of points racing. Im a Hendricks fan but I would rather see em crash going for a win than just riding to a good finish. Pretty hard hits at those speeds, I bet they are a little sore today.
  19. Thanks for the report, im glad to hear you made it out fishing. Sounds like you did alright too. I've got the itch real bad, don't know if I'll make it till the 23rd. I bought a DVD that shows how to make a tapered furled leader, so I made the jig up the other day and furled some leaders up today. I made 2 with 2lb mono and 1 with uni-thread. They are all fishable but hope to get better as I make more.
  20. I'm ready to go fishing. Haven't been since December, getting cabin fever. I have been tying flies to pass the time but it only makes me want to go even more. Work has been busy with all the snow and bad weather. Lots of traffic accidents but nobody hurt real bad. Alot of people sick from the flu and viral sicknesses, just a matter of time before I get it from them all. Positive note: I did schedule a trip to Montauk for Marck 23 - 30. If anyone is gonna be down there during that time PM me, I would love to share the water with a fellow OAF member. Dennis
  21. Got my flies today. They all look great!!! Can't wait to fish them. A special thanks to strangercreek for hosting this swap. Dennis
  22. I like it the way it is. If it aint broke don't fix it. The bumper stickers will lure them in. I belong to a couple other forums but they are nothing compared to this one. Thanks again for the wonderful forum Phil. Dennis
  23. I agree, we need to get you a camera, So you can post us some motivational pics. Thanks for the report. Dennis

    Super Bowl

I think if they cared about juicing, they should've checked the players back then. If they tested positive supend them. Its hard to go back and punish players for something years later. I dont like Bonds because he is arrogant, but if baseball didn't test him for roids back then leave him alone now. I don't want to see High School and College players get to the point they have to juice to make it to the "BIGS". Dennis
  25. Flyfshn, Thanks for the report, you're giving me the itch to get out. Glad you had a good time. You are gonna have to show me that g-bug, or better yet post a recipe on here. Take care Dennis
