  1. If you have the capability to send an email, you have the capability to spell check. All one need do is copy and paste. I use it almost regularly here and other forums. It won't slow you down a bit. I don't have 450 post, but I ain't far behind.
  2. Close but not quite. Missouri has never bartered for rattlesnakes or bear. As for Ruffed Grouse it has been many, many years since they have been released here. Only this year did Missouri release some Prairie Chickens. And just for the record did not have to trade for them. They came from KS and were told basically that you can have them if you come and get them. So they did. Now I will give you otters. Some things are too successful and they have admited that it is was a mistake and wish they hadn't have done it.
  3. Way to go! Honestly, I doubt I would have let it go. It would most likely have gone on my wall. That is a great inspiration!!
  4. Great news!! Best of luck to ya.
  5. OK Al, now my eyes are starting to cross. If 1/8th of a dollar is 12.5 cents and if I bought something and the tax portion of my purchase came to $10 wouldn't that = $1.25 for the MDC and not 1.25 cents? But I still say it is not the total cost of the product purchased, just the tax portion that the 1/8 comes from. I don't know.... I have been sitting here playing with this on a calculator and don't like what it is saying either....
  6. Not all tax monies, just sales tax monies. Wouldn't 1/8 of 8 dollars be $1? Also in your example above, I don't believe it is derived from the cost of the product purchased but, from the amount of tax charged. So if I spent $100 and the tax was $10 that would make the total $110 but they only get 1/8 of the $10 charged in tax. That is my understanding.
  7. I think the only tax monies the MDC gets comes from sales tax. And at that rate it is only 1/8 of one penny of tax paid. Math is not one of my strong points, hell lets be honest here, there are days its not even a medium point, but if I am thinking correctly, for every 7 or 8 cents in sales tax you pay if you buy in MO, the MDC will get one penny. It would be interesting to keep a tab of all the sales tax we pay in a week to see how much we contriuted to the MDC.
  8. I'm confused here. Do you or don't you pay property taxes in MO?
  9. When ya coming? Cherry Corner to either Allen Bridge, 3-4 hrs, or Lime Kiln another 3-4 hrs, depending on how fast you float, can be really good. Lime Kiln to Tipton Ford can be a 10+ hr float. It has some really nice water. You may see some company on this one. There is a spot or two along Scenic Rd that you could take out if that is too long. If you are gonna be in the Joplin area, Center Creek is a great float too.
  10. Sounds like a great time Ollie. We are gonna have to hook up sometime.
  11. I'm a little more pissed that they don't. Nothing personal, but I think non-residents should pay a higher fine. Now if the resident and non-resident tag prices were the same, I might think differently. I'm not sure because I haven't checked into it, but I believe Mo has one of the lowest price for non-residents tags. And probably the same goes with the fine. I have heard some real horror stories come out of OK for getting busted. I don't think KS goes to easy either.
  12. I'm not sure who actually sets the rate for the tickets. A buddy of mine got busted one time in Barton County. Since he was from Jasper County he had to pay a higher rate. It seemed like during the conversation with the agent, he alluded to the fact that the county judge set the rate. But don't quote me. That was about 8 years ago. His fine was $150. Does that compare to yours?
  13. I had forgot about this until I was talking to Buzz the other day, but at one time I did a lot of pond and strip pit hopping. To keep a full charge on my battery I ran two wires from my truck battery along the frame to the back of my Bronco II and then behind the bumper and into the back. I added clips to the end that I would clip right on to the battery for charging. It worked out great and I never had to worry about over charging. You could adapt this to whatever situation you may have. I need to do that again, now that I am starting to do more floating and pond hopping again.
  14. Last weekend I picked up my new, new to me, Pelican 12ft Ram-X Jon. I have been looking for one of these or a Coleman Crawdad for a couple of months and finally hit pay dirt. The kids had to go to a birthday party at the skating rink and I took the opportunity to get in a little fishing today. Very little. The wife and I hit the water at 2:15 and had to leave at 3:30. Things started out real slow. Then finally I got a 14 inch Brownie on a Wiggle Wart. I soon put on a Spinner Bait with 15 minutes to go and caught another 12 inch brownie and a 10 1/2 inch Goggle Eye that looked to have swallowed a baseball. It was just a beautiful fish. The colors were so vibrant.
  15. Ya know, I was on the way home a while ago and it hit me. OK if I repost this in a couple of weeks? I don't know what I was thinking. Well I guess I wasn't. Carry on like nooooooooooothing ever happened.
  16. Why don't you throw some in there? BTW, one more post and you'll hit the big 20.......0.............0. Congrats! What are ya gonna do to celebrate?
  17. Unless I am reading this incorrectly, sounds to as if he has no regard for the rules and regulations that make for the great fishing we have in this state.
  18. There is a reason we have those laws. And it stems from people like yourself.
  19. I dig his music but I ain't much in to his penned hunting trips.
  20. ".....Brown describes that as being an intelligent and articulate interview, being able to answer the same question over and over as if it's the first time it's ever been asked and being cheerful after a tough, disappointing loss. It's also about manners, courtesy, personal grooming and appropriate attire." I think you may have missed this part.
  21. What chaps my arse is they always want to be seen as the champions of hunting and fishing. Always have to have a cameo in the outdoors. But they could care less out the outdoors and how it is destroyed. Its only about money. Everybody hates the tree hugging libs until their own backyard is being destroyed.
  22. Still shouldn't stop them from raising a stink.
  23. The MDC should be jumping all over this. But by looking at the letter posted, it doesn't look like anybody can do anything about it. According to the letter, it the company does't want to show up at a meeting, then its all over and they win. That is how I read it. But then again it states..... The permit application is in compliance > with the provisions of The Land Reclamation Act and an application that > meets the standards of the Act must be recommended for approval....... I didn't know mining and destroying a creek and the life in it was reclamation. Boy am I behind the times.
  24. OK, I have been following along here by checking in about once a week to catch up on the latest. This is a really, really deep conversation. I must admit that I am starting to get along in my age and what I am reading here is really starting to worry me. Is there or is there not a Tooth Fairy? I know at some point, being a hillbilly I am gonna start loosing teeth. I will need this income to supplement my SS payments.
  25. I saw that one too. It was for alkaline batteries. This particular episode that I saw was talking about metals. When talking about lead, that is when they went to the battery factory. Both of them are pretty dang interesting.
