  1. with the lake down this past thursday and friday mornings you all should see the pile of rock out in front of fall creek WOW thats a train wreck waiting to happen
  2. Anyone have a guess on what level they will drop table rock to before they slow the flow on taneycomo? headed down next week and hope to fish both lakes Trock for crappies and taney for trout. i like running water just not quite this much
  3. How sad and yes the tree needs to come out and while there in there lets remove the rest of the rebar also thats just another disaster waiting to happen that doesnt need to.
  4. i use a 6 ft loomis trout rod it has a fast tip but you can get a good hook set dont forget when you purchase a reel i look for a silky smooth drag for that 2# line that is getting harder to see as i get older lol
  5. when all else fails with water on i drift an egg and scud combo in the trophy zone. water off an inflated night crawler above short creek around some of the big trees that lay on the bottom in that area good luck
  6. hard to beat a white jig for browns. sunset pic is awesome!
  7. lots of logs = lots of jigs
  8. With the heavy generation every day was pretty much the same. Cable to Fall Creek lots of fish on jigs white in low light and sculpin ginger in the sun caught alot of nice trout casting and working the banks.Rapalas did well also 4 inch and 5 inch black and silver and gold and black biggest fish was 21 inch brown in the lookout area. not wanting to fight the fog a few times i fished lower parts of the lake part of the week i was surprized at the number and quality of the fish i caught on the steep banks in the bee creek and the old sammy lane gold mine area ( icon from the past) i switchd to a 1/16 ounce jig for a slow fall in those areas with less current and had a blast lots of nice browns in these areas 15 to 18 inches
  9. congrats to Lilley family
  10. crawlers with a shot of air always a good bet. small float and micro jig or trout magnet will catch alot of fish. if area has been stocked cleos will boat alot fish you might flatten the barbs if you release alot of fish. lilleys to the landing most times is a good bet good luck and have fun
  11. headed to Taneycomo in two weeks to fish for a week anyone seeing any signs of low oxygen yet? i know some falls are worse than others hoping the brown run will start in a few weeks.
  12. Thats why i have a Ranger Trail there hub system is so bad even the common criminal wont mess with them. Be fun to catch them a good a$#@#$@! whuppin will sometimes iniate a lifesyle change for some people
  13. Heads up good friend Gary Acton @ Blue Haven resort had a lowrance hds 10 and an hds 8 stolen from his boat while parked in the yard wires were cut off the back of them local police told him there have been some other thefts up and down t como lately
  14. with the water coming through the dam at 57 to 58 degrees and the surface temp of table Rock at 59 in some spots could turn over be close ( higher o2 levels) or are we going need to get table rock down to 40 whats everyones thoughts on this

  16. just finished a two week stay on TANEYCOMO ( bluehaven resort) 43yrs in a row now. Made the trip in the fog every morning (55min) to lookout. fishing in the morning was great 1/8 jigs fished close to bluff took most of our fish white in the early morn and sculpin as the morning went on.Did buy a few drys and caught several trout right on the bluff bank for the trip we had lots of fish in 17 to 20 range and 4 over 20 and they are fat and healthy afternoons found us up to the cable and fishing was a little slow still tossing jigs found a few willing takers in shadey still spots. Had a bunch of friends that are bait fishers and they had no problems getting a limit in the bull creek and cedar point areas. i have seen a few comments on the fog heres a good one for you while travling back to b haven one morning fog was still thick for that time of day thick enough that i was at a fast idle when i heard a boat coming at me i headed for shore just in time for a camp kanakuk boat to fly by with one person in it ( heres the good part) and a WATER SKIER I went back to the resort and called the camp im sure that went nowhere I kick myself now for making the next call to the water patrol im all for fun but lets not kill a bunch of kids trying to have it .
  17. Looking at the last 2 pictures is there even room to get a boat on up past that rock bar do you think a bass boat with trolloing motor down and big motor trimmed up will make it
  18. Would like to hear from some of the regulars on the lake about any new hazards in the lake from Lilleys on up to tropy area. I have heard there are a few trees in front of Trout Hollow and the Short creek bar almost reaches the bluff now. any info would be helpfull I really dont care to add the cost of a prop and skeg to my vacation. thanks Kelly
  19. Just got home from Taneycomo fished the last 7 days about 10 hrs a day. spent most of the week above Fall creek and all the way to the dam when water levels would allow caught alot of fish on 125th ounce jig with a float on the flyrod. Sculpins greens and dark colors were the choice. lots of variation in the trout size 8 inches to 19 inches. however alot of our bigger fish 17 18 & 19s came on a 1/32 jig on spinning rod with 2# test we had several of these every day execpt one(thurs). got to fish the water falling out thurs evening in the rebar and MDC ramp area used a floating rapala 4 inch orange and had fish on almost constant for 45 min. saw several large browns over the week cruising the entire upper end (fall creek and up)those of you there for the brown run better be greezin those reels. Friday morn as i stood on the dock i told my friends all i wanted was one big bite in 38 yrs of chasing trout on t como i have never boated what i would consider a trophy at 2;30 that afternoon in lookout hole with a 1/32 green jig (from lilleys) i got my wish some of you may have heard me hoot and holler and jump up and down as my buddy netted a 25 inch 7# rainbow. man 38yrs was a long wait took a few pics and turned her loose
  20. Im not for sure where they came from.I did catch a few in the coon creek mouth and they were Rainbows and would have layed in the palm of my hand pretty easy ( wish i had took a pic)I did see the stock boat twice last week on the lower end and it was after that my bait fishing friends started catching the small trout below the islands just above bull creek they brought a couple in that were not succesfully released and they measured 6.5 inches.i wonder if they are from the fed hatchery as they dont grow them as big as MDC does.
  21. Spent the last 9 days at Blue Haven and had a lot of friends fish lower taney. they reported good action in the Bull creek area and cedar point area. Most of the fish I saw them clean were in the 11 to 12 inch size nothing much bigger all taken on powerbait. they were complaining of a lot a fish in the 5 to 6 inch size.I did stop one evening on the way back from trophy area and tossed a few cleos in the coon creek area and found swarms of 6 inch trout following the cleo in.
  22. Ever feel like your darned if you do and darned if you dont? my Ranger up on the pad leaves less wake than it does down plowing.but i also figure that lookout to short creek is going to be idle speed on the avg summer morning. if i can get to one side and run safely on plane i will but it draws some reel go to heck looks from some folks and when forced to idle i need to be in the channel were undoubtly there will be a bunch of boats anchord with rods and tight lines in every direction and they aint movin its almost like claim rights. I try to explain to these folks that i need to pass were they are anchord some understand and some have talked nasty about my mother ( im a pretty big guy and not as good as i once was but dont talk bad about my mom). I think the best last laughs i ever had was when a boat was anchord in the narrow spot above fall creek and i couldnt get by so after tiliting the motor all the way up and holding the trolling motor up to get by i was able to see all 30 or 40 trout hanging on the stringers and there pink power bait bait floating nicely off the bottom a quick call and luckily a warden near by and i havnt seen these folks since
  23. Glad to see you add the anchoring in the channel part I know it wont fix it how do you deal with it ? I have been boating up and down Tcomo for 30 yrs now and figure on the avg summer morning you may as well consider lookout to short creek no wake. even when at idle I get the bit of my lines are out there i try to explain that i cant afford to leave part of the motor on the rocks and there boat is sitting where others need to pass. i have offerd to replace hooks and sinkers made suggestions on a better way to fish but for some its almost like they have a clain area and you aint coming thruogh. some folks are courteous and understand while others have a few words and even the one figure salute for you. I'll be down in a week for 10 days of fishing staying with good friend gary at blue haven so i will get to see a lot of taneycomo. see yall on the water.
  24. How strange to find this post after what i saw yesterday (sat) here on my home lake, lake shelbyville IL . while fishing a main lake point I heard an incredible whack sound not the sound of a boat hitting a rock or log but the sound of two boats colliding. i turned in time to see a stratous straight up and down in the air at least 20 feet in the air and a nitro nose dived into the water with the last 7 or 8 feet of it sticking out. one teenage boy was thrown about 40 yards from the boat the nitro broke into the top cap on the stratous flew off in a 1000 pieces. massive chest and compound fractures for the guy driving the nitro as his body took out the steering console on impact severe head and neck trauma ( possible broken neck ) for the kid that flew out the stratous. 4 people hospitaized 2 air vac. to a major trauma center. this was the worst thing i have ever seen on the water. the lake was crowded sat. as there is a big BFL tourny here next week . saw alot of boaters flying around with there eyes and fingers on the electronics and not looking forward and paying attention. it was a sobering moment and an awaking for some of us out there with big fast glittery boats. i just hope it doesnt come at the expense of the young mans life
  25. two of my good friends have Nitros one a z9 the other a z7 both wish they had there money back. both boats look great and have lots of little gizmo appeal but over all quality could use some seriuos work. i dont want to start a war here but there are other boats out there more worth the money.
