  1. I saw Pete at the queeny park fishing seminar, there was a small crowd because of the snow and ice. Pete put on a good seminar - covering mostly early spring and summer patterns. He gave very detailed information on the fishing patterns starting with stickbait, grub and spoon bite, along with fish location and seasonal movement into the the spawn. He also talked about lines and rods for the lures he was discussing. After going over spawning season He spoke of topwater bite, worm fishing, and He talked of jig fishing and football jigs and presentation in detail. It was very good! A lot of info covered in 2 hours.
  2. I have rod and reel preferences for different lures/weight, water body, and casting room. I use 6 and 8 lb. Line on 2500 series shimano spinning reels, heavier line is used on 4000 series spinning reels because of line diameter. I use 5 to 6 foot med. action on creeks and rivers and for pinpoint casting , though they are not in style and harder to find. I use longer rods on open water. For casting rods the same is true for me – short rods for lighter lures and for accuracy, long rods for open water and dragging lures. Flipping would be the exception, where a long heavier action rod works great.
  3. Caught smallies on the flats 15 to 30 feet, and they haven't all spawned. they'll bite grubs, deep diving crankbaits, or crawdad imitators(hula grub, jig&trailer combo). The keeper size spots are suspended in 38 feet halfway down, and will eat a slow moving grub. 1 good spot out of windblown bushes on a rattletrap. The largemouth were hiding in the dock shade - move in quietly or you won't get bit. The crawfish right now are green. Keep that in mind when choosing your crawfish pattern.
  4. Mr. Beck not only understands the quality fish movement, He misses very few fish. Next time You get to fish together, track your missed fish count and see how You compare. Good Luck!
