jscheetz i think they stock the hybrids in the lake every year or two. one thing i would like to see is a minaum length limit on them its not hard to tell a white from a hybrid if you just look at the broken lines down the sides. im sure there are more put on a stringer when they are small. it is kind of a shame that such a fish with there size potential are caught before there time. as fore the crappie you can catch tons of small 5 to 6 inch fish about any time. i would like to see the length limit raised to 10 inch. there are so many fish caught that are just 9 that one more year might be a good crappie. while im preaching here i would like to see hybrids stocked in bullshoals and tablerock but that is another story fore another day. slider

i just got done knocking the sides of a limit of crappie from the tailrace. had one white to go with it. 2 of the other guys had 15 to 20 fish each they had about an even mix of whites and crappie. i just never could get the whites to going fore some reason. it looked like opening day of trout season about an hour before dark. every body was catching some fish. i would like to know how many fish are caught from the tailrace each year. has to be a big big bunch. slider

my big fish weighed 6lbs the smaller one weighed 4lbs 2oz. like tightline said we had a blast. i have fished with vonreed in the past so i knew he would put his fair share on the bank.from the looks of vonreeds 4 big fish i estamated them from 4 to 5 lbs each. one of the other guys made his first trip to the tailrace with us he said he had a good time and would be back. he also said he felt bad coz he didnt keep up with some of the others. he had close to 20 fish not to bad a trip.

made a trip up there yesterday. 5 of us caught 115 that we brought home. tightline will be posting some pictures and the full story. slider

did you have any luck?

i fished right above the handicap dock. the water wasnt really fast in the little bowl above there. i tried to fish above the bowl and didnt have much luck in the faster water. ther must have been 50 boats over in the old river chanel so they must have been catching something. saw about the same amount of boats both days. slider

made my first trip to the tailrace of the year yesterday. started fishing about 6:00, it was really crowded found a spot to fish to my liking about 7:30. one guy next to me had close to a limit of crappie and 5 or 6 whites. started catching fish on a pearl crappie stinger, switched to a beetle about dark and caught fish fore about an hour and then it got really slow. fished until about 10:00 one once in awhile. when i left had 8 crappie and 5 whites. water was fairly muddy. the guy next to me did finish his limit of crappie and added a few more whites. i think the day fishing is a little better coz of the stained water. slider

DIDNT KNOW WHERE TO GO FORE SURE, IT DIDNT TAKE ME LONG TO FIND THE PEOPLE THOUGH. I HEARD ONE GUY IN A BOAT AND HE SAID HE COUNTED OVE 100 PEOPLE ON THE BANK BELOW WHERE I WAS. DIDNT CATCH ANYTHING UNTIL DARK. DID START CATCHING FISH OF AND ON UNTIL WE FROZE OUT ABOUT 10:00. CAUGHT 11 MALES 4 SMALL ONES AND 7 BIG MALES NO SOWS. WE HAVE BEEN USING THE GARLIC DIP-AND-GLO AND DARKENING OUR SWIMMING MINNOWS AND BEETLES. THE GARLIC SEAMS TO MAKE THEM BITE A LITTLE BETTER. MY NEPHEW AND I WERE AT WARSAW ONE TIME USING PEARL SLIDERS WITH A WHITE TAIL WE DIPPED THE TAIL IN CHARTRUSE AND CAUGHT FISH. I HAVE TRIED BULL AND TURKEY. THEY ARE BOTH GREAT. WE USED TO GET THE TURKEY FRIES AND HAVE A BIG COOK AT WORK IF YOU DIDNT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE YOU WOULD THINK THEY WERE FRIED TURKEY BREAST. THE MT. OYSTERS HAVE A TAST ALL THER OWN I LIKE THEM THE BEST. SLIDER
