Thanks for breaking down your day Jackie D. Hogfan and I fished the buddy and had 15 something with four fish. All smallies on the blade. Had two that went 5lbs each. Very first cast of the day Hogfan landed a 3 pounder. Then not a fish till after noon. Finally found them on the outside edge unlike in practice. Like it always goes had # five on but spit the blade before finding the net. Maybe next time.
Going out tommorow for the first time since the flood. Was thinking of putting in at Viney. Has anyone else put in there or know if it is possible. Oh, and any fishing report would be great, if there is one. Thanks.
Awesome pics. Went across Eagle Rock and Kings River bridges on 86 for the first time since the rain. WOW! Talk about a spooky feeling. Seen some guys putting in at Eagle Rock. You better be ready to fish a foreign lake for awhile.
Thanks for the pics SKMO. Have not been out yet to see all the damage. Talked to Curt at Baxter Marine and they herd from the Corp. that the lake should peak out Sat. at around 932+. I feel for the people that are wondering not what the fishing will do but more when the water will go down to see what is left to salvage from there flooded homes.
Bill I have never fished the grub vertically. Probably missing out but just not sure how you do it. Hoping some one can tell me if you just fish it like a drop shot, if you use a swimming grub head, and if the best luck comes by dropping it down and trolling slowly. Thanks for any input.
This is my 2 year old boy. This was his first time out and after pulling up to a new spot and quickly catching 8 quality keepers in 8 casts on a FB jig he quickly became my favorite fishing partner.
Hogfan thanks for the quick feedback. Went across Kings River on Hwy 86 this weekend and it was frozing far as I could see both ways. Wasn't sure the water temp but seeing that ice made me think of the sluggish stick bait fish.
Any one know what it took to win the tournaments on the rock this weekend. Haven't been out much was wondering if the jerk bait bite was on or what's catching em.
Good report guys. I don't know about everyone else but it seems like no matter if I am throwing a spinnerbait, jig, or worm, the slower the better at night.
Bill I am also very new to the drop shot. I tried it out at the Bridge piers for the first time and could not see anything except a black screen. Caught some fish but was just doing it "in the DARK". Is this normal or can I adjust my unit to see under there. Also I have heard of people twisting there transducer around a little to fish more off the side instead of under the TM. How is yours setting.
Thanks for the report and keeping us weekend anglers informed.
Bill, I have never dropshotted before but it sounds like alot of fun. I would like to learn how. Do you have any advise, know of any instructional videos, or is the best way to just get out there and play around with it.
