  1. I took my nephew out one day to a special paved area on a point for bank fishermen. It has brush piles planted maybe 25-30 feet off the bank with buoys coming up from them. So we set up on one of them and we are the only ones there and there are 3 of these buoys. My nephews bobber is sitting right beside it and I'm casting to it with a road runner. A guy and his wife and little girl pull up in a tracker jon boat and tie up to the buoy we are fishing even hitting my nephews bobber. Thankl god I had my nephew and he had his daughter or I'd be in jail. So the moron asks if were doin any good and I bit my toungue and said were fine. I was getting ready to tell my nephew wed just move down to the next pile. But then the yoyo turn his boat radio up full blast and I know I got to get rid of him or Ill kill him. So I drop my road runner within a foot of his boat about 4 casts in a row and it doesn't even phase him. Then I grabbed my bass rod and put on a chigger craw and a split shot. I skipped it right off the side of his boat on the first cast. He said something but I couldn't hear him. My second skip I missed his boat and went right under his trolling motor. When I hit the boat with the next cast he got the idea and left. Why people don't have common sense is beyond me.
  2. ive caught several muskie there ,of course when i did i was always fishing for the gaY bass
  3. Was wondering with Lake of the Ozarks being low right now if it is safe to use Gravois Mills boat ramp to launch a bass boat.
  4. This was the pic that got me real excited about side imaging. Cant wait to get out and try down imaging. Im goin to Truman in two weeks no matter what the weather is.
  5. THey just added it for the 797 . I am so pumped I thought I was left out in the cold. Cant wait to get out and try it on some brush piles!!!!!!!!
  6. I fished there yesterday . I caught 8 keeper largemouth and 17 white bass all on big chartruse spinnerbaits with gold blades. All fish were very shallow. They were running water pretty good.
  7. Even if you did good please tell me you didn't. Or I may pull my hair out. We have 2 more days in Long Creek anyone have a suggestion.
  8. K guys thanks for the info. Guess we'll just stay over at Table Rock. I saw the good smallmouth report in the KC Star fishing report.
  9. Saw on a Missouri fishing report today that smallmouth fishing is excellent on Bull Shoals right now. Is it any good from Taneycomo dam to the Arkansas line? If so are tube jigs and football heads good like at Table Rock? Any help is greatly appreciated
  10. Last month I was down there and we caught white bass on deep points on spoons and smallmouth on tube jigs pretty deep as well. Both in long creek. Do you think they'll still be deep in this area?
  11. Jimmy Houston posted on his facebook page that he was staying at Big Cedar and taping a show on Table Rock so it may have been him.
  12. Putting in tomorrow at Drake harbor and fishing down to Turkey Creek cove. Is there any good white bass fishing in this stretch? What about vertcal fishing spoons along the bluffs? Does that work at all there?
  13. Hmm. Already got a new lower unit this thanks to Lake Fork. So I think I won't venture up that way. Would it be a complete waste of time to fish around Branson Landing area floating a night crawler.
  14. We are coming down to Table Rock in two weeks. We are wanting to maybe try trout fishing one day on Taneycomo. I need some real basic info. Can I safely run my bass boat up the middle of Taneycomo? Is the ramp by branson landing a decent area? I know about the artificial only area. Do inline spinners work up there and can I safely get there in boat. What about night crawlers I heard they work good. And lastly do you fish cover around the banks or just float down the lake casting. Any help is greatly appreciated
  15. Coming down this weekend and was planning to run down to the dam area and fish . Anyone care to guess what this rain and colder nights will do to the fish. I really really wanna catch some smallmouth!!!
  16. I have a tournament there sunday and I havnt really fished the river area. Any suggestions between mile markers 70 and 90
  17. I'm waiting on my wife to get home from work so I can head down. We are spending the week and I'll be fishing from tomorrow-next friday. Anyone have any advice for the area from Big cedar to the dam?
  18. I just recieved 2 of the pro qualifiers that your talking about. I put the same jig on one of them and 1 on one of my Revo reels. Realy couldnt tell that much difference in them. They cast about them same and it feels like a very solid reel.
  19. Thanks for the info Bill. We are staying at Big Cedar so you think its okay to leave boat in the water? I just thought maybe with the cold nights it might be better if its not in the water. Wow the water will still be in the mid to upper 40's . I would not have thought it would be that warm.
  20. Had my favorite all time bite this spring at Lake of the Ozarks . I got up between two docks and had the nose of the boat just off the bank. My buddy and I were each flipping the walkway of the seperate docks. I flipped up by the first concrrete block coming off land with an eakins jig. I never felt a bite just watched my line start going down the walkway towards the dock. I reeled up the slack till I felt him and then laid into him. When I set the hook I jerked his head back looking straight at me . Soon as i jerked i knew it was a solid fish and it was a nice 5 pounder . Heard my buddy say i got the net and i fought him in. He said he was looking the other way but could tell from thesound the hookset made it was a good fish .
  21. Me and 2 buddies went there the first week of April. They had a big cold front the day before we got there and the first two days we fished we caught 2 bass both under a pound and a 7lb catfish on a spiinnerbait. The third morning we pulled into a small cove at daylight and in 1 hour caught an 8 , a 7 , a 6 , two 5lbers and three over 3. And then the wind kicked up to 35mph it started pouring and we were done. Very dangerous lake . I was running the buoy line out of mustang creek that shows where they cleared a path in the trees out to the main lake . I missed one of the buoys by about 5ft and had a tree on the other side of the boat about 10 feet awaybroke off right at the water line. WE will definatley go back next year. Just plan on fishing there cause there is nothing else to do around the lake.
  22. I would cast for her, and hand the rod back. I would wait till she was 3/4 way in and cast a second rod again, working the bait to the right depth and then handing her the rod as she finished her previous retrieve. She always had a bait working. She was reeling the correct speed, and she smoked us. Hope this helps. I think anyone who says they wanna be a guide should read this and think on it. All you guides have way more patience than I could ever muster.
  23. WE put in and headed straight for the dam. Water was much clearer up there. You'll have to tak to the guys in the know on here about if water will clear up around Big Cedar by then, because I haven't the foggiest idea. We caught almost all of our fish on big spinnerbaits with big colorado blades. I was real surprised when I got home and saw most struggled this weekend because we caught them pretty well . Sometimes luck is better than skill I guess.
  24. We did all right this weekend. We stayed at Big Cedar and I couldnt believe my eyes when we got down to the water. I've never seen the lake anything like it is now. We went out Saturday and stayed around the resort as we only had 3 hours to fish before show . My buddy caught one on a jig and that was it . I was getting very worried. Sunday we did alot better we ran up to Jake Creek. He started throwing a Strike King Pro Model Spinnerbait with a perch looking skirt and a #4 and a #7 gold Colorado blade. I thought he was nuts throwing that big thing till he caught 3 spots between 2 and 3 pounds off the first dock we came to. Being the good friend he is he gave me one just like it and we caught at least 10 spots Sunday Monday and Tuesday morning all before 9am and almost all on boat docks. WE looked for beds but didn't see any . Guess they were out a little deeper. We'll this was by far my best trip to table rock for numbers and was very happy. Didnt catch anything over 3.5 but most were big fat legal spots. My buddydid lose a nice one that wrapped him on a dock line. One last thing sure looks to be alot of old timber from the lake floating in the brush. Do you think it is a significant amount of the timber from the lake or do you think when the lake goes down you wont be able to tell it lost any of it?
  25. Coming down this weekend -next wednesday and staying at big cedar. Is anyone doing any good in that area? Is the water clearing at all? Would you try spinnerbait or something else? Thanks ahead for all help.
