I didn't like banking the brown like that but he was in real fast water and I dang near dropped my camera earlier on the bo...fish just don't pose well, lol. thanks guys later on

They are a very predator friendly fish. They appear to be a little rough...different though.. later on

Is that what that hole was?, lol. Looked more like a stringer hole, yep...same fish. You strung him up and dragged him downstream about a mile and a half before you decided to turn him loose...that be the one?..lol. Leaves aren't the only things that get nice fall color. later on

I gotta couple of buddies that razz me all the time about giving out too much info...all our top secrets ya know, lol. They think I should profit from my knowledge of the river whether it's guiding, eco-tours, something new and trendy. I guess alot of folk would, I don't know or really care. I feel I do profit just knowing maybe I made someones trip a little better. I know I have been a tourist plenty of times and would have loved to have some of the local knowledge about anything. Knowing a little is better than stumbumbling off totally ignorant about what/where you're doing anything. Giving is suppose to be better than receiving...it's great when they work together. They'll just have to keep rakin...they know how much damage it does, lol. later on

Knowing the importance of the existence of smallies in Ozark Streams I just wish the dept. or someone would do more to help such a neat fish. Things of this nature make me wish I were filthy rich...just hope the money wouldn't have changed my beliefs. later on

Talking to a buddy today prompted me to fish for a bit. Went to Cedar, fished from about 3 till dark. Waters dropping and clearing up considerably. Caught a dozen or so fish...13 to 18 inchers. Did catch 1 smallie not much bigger than my plug and kinds unusual for me I caught a couple of bo's. Took a couple of pics...pics don't do them justice but the fish are really pretty right now, 1 brown I caught, 17"??, had to be one of the prettiest colored fish I've seen in a while. Big spots, really goldish sides, just really a extra pretty one. I'll just show a couple of pics and not give no big "Poo, Poo" fishin story. 2 or 3 tree limbs tried their best to steal my plug today...today I kept my plug, that's a good thing, lol

I was going to comment about that fish. My mounts have a lateral cut down the backside so you answered my question...looked more like a skinning job than a cleaning job but, I aint the boss of nobody but myself and what each of us choose to do with our catch is our choice as long as it's legal. I don't have the right to judge, condem, give praise, whatever. We each have that right IMO. Now if that were a 25" smallie under the knife it would be more to my disliking...even then I don't have the right to say anything...and replicas, they are ok I guess but they look like what they are to me, a fake fish. Like we've talked...at least the trout population gets help, most of our native species are on their own. Would be nice to see more effort (or any effort) and funding put towards helping our true native species of fishes. jmho later

There were so many people down at the river that day...forgot deer season opens in a week and a crowd to me is, well...2s company, 3s a crowd...kinda tend to agree. Fishing during deer season probably isn't the smartest thing in the world...way my lucks been as of late a stray bullet would probably nail my old butt. I have on 2 occasions over the years actually been snuck up on by hunters that heard me wading up the river thinking I was a deer, one was a friend and we still get a laugh out of it. Reminds me of a joke where 2 first time hunters made a kill and realized it was a man. Upon realizing what they had done they rushed him to the nearest hospital...after a short wait the doctor came out and told them he didn't make it...said he might have stood a chance if they wouldn't have field dressed him. ha,ha!...I know... Anyway, I waited around...had to try and stay focused on what I was waiting for, kept getting lost on the same gravel bar just below Parkers...lots of footprints in a sandy spot where Schafer Spring branch dumps in but I think most were mine. I guess I finally gave it up, couldn't remember where my truck was and when I found it figured I better get the heck outta there before I forgot something. I can't tell if these mega doses of ginko are helping or not...I may be taking too much/not enouph or if I even have any...if I find it I gotta remember to take it. Try leaving myself notes but always forget where I put em. I was going to make a point here I think but...oh just forget it. If nothing else I am making it perfectly clear how stupid I've become...I think that allows me right of passage in this world these days, lol. later Oh yeah, after floating that strech Cricket you see why I always have said the Current is a great wade fishing stream. During normal flow there aren't but a couple of spots on that whole section that you have to walk the bank. The river isn't as trash free as what you saw the other day...it's just had several pretty good flushings lately. Give it a little time and the empty corn cans, power bait jars, you know...stuff that real fisherman use, must be legal to them, it's not plastic or alive...someday when I grow up maybe I to can be a corn banger...doesn't hurt to dream anywho, lol

Those 2 guys in the canoes passed me around 2:30 ??. somewhere right in there, about 1 1/2 miles above Cedar. Sounds and looks like you had a good day. They were there to paddle, not fish...don't ask me but I've seen alot of folk that act like it's a race...whatever, lol. With the water up and moving good they probably made it but not a very relaxing trip. Long as all enjoyed themselves is all that matters. Was kinda hangin around waitin for a guy and his wife floating that day...I think he and the wife got hung on a sand bar upstream or something, lol. later on least those capri pants got some fish slime on em, lol
