  1. Dano, You plan on packing on your next trip to Taney? I promise I'll never walk in front of your drift again Hopefully I'll get right for concealed myself someday. Don
  2. Terry, I have neither seen your lost hemo's nor JJTroutbum's. I'll keep looking. Thanks for bringing the cooker and the good eats. Don May
  3. Nope. I didn't find any hemos. I had a great time meeting a few of you and visiting with the alumni. I would like to have seen a few others but the cold thinned out the herd Man the food was awesome. I fished for about an hour with JJ and Steve. I picked up three quick stockers on a black WD40 and had a few other takers. Happy New Year. Don May
  4. I did alright Saturday. I caught a huge bow on my second cast off a size 20 black W-D40. The hen was such a pig I knew it was a seven plus pound fish until I measured her. She was the fattest 20 inch fish I've ever seen or caught, at least 5 pounds. Two casts later I caught a 19 incher off a tan and purple tail GBug(the sow broke off my WD-40 when I was releasing her from the net). I thought wow! this is gonna be some day. Things slowed down a bit and the crowds moved in. I think everyone was trying out their new Christmas presents that day. Anyhow, I hooked three other lunkers on small eggs but couldn't bring them in. I was only lunker hunting that day but larger fish seemed to bite better than stockers. I saw several large fish caught that day but not alot of action otherwise. Things slowed down as the day went along but it was well worth the trip. Don May
  5. Hogs? Who Dey?
  6. Hey Rich...I'll ask a few if you will ask a few (bring some of those women) as well. I've seen you knock the snot of those bows at Bennett on those cracklebacks. Sometimes they are good near the top in choppy water especially the last hour before sunset. I hear red and orange works well lately. Which leads to: if cracklebacks are working, soft hackles might come into play as well. Otherwiae, if you are nymphing at Taney in the winter, bring some very small scuds...etc. See ya there.....Don May

    The Eagles

Long Road Out Of Eden I think there a few Eagles fans out there. I'm listening to the new CD as I type. I'ts about the tenth time I've heard it. It made a decent first impression and seems to get a little better each time I listen to it. It's also nice to see that they have matured to the point that they got back into studio again, they started TV appearences, and they sold their double CD at discount via discount retail stores. 8. I'll bring some kind of appetizers. I have a small propane grill I can bring. The forecast at this time shows cold stuff moving in. I initially planned to drop off some food and fish all day. On the other hand, I don't fish much with ice on the ferrules. It might be just a good time to visit and talk fish. Looking forward to see you all. Don May P.S. Okay Duckydoty, go ahead and call me a lightweight.
  9. Merry Christmas everybody. Don May
  10. Gary..... Never wear blue gloves after Labor Day and before Memorial Day. Don May
  11. The caption on the last pic must be "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for catch and release." Don May
  12. I experienced fishing in the fly area a few years ago when construction was going on upstream. The water murked up brown and most people couldn't see the fish so they moved upstream. It was one of the best bites I've had at RR. Cloudy water has always been my friend down there. Don May
  13. About thirty years ago, we gave the national guard permission to fly out and land on our property for training purposes. As a kid, when I heard them coming I would walk up to the back 20 and watch them. Could it have been them? Don May
  14. Dang Scheetz, I wish I could see you guys. I've always had a thing for the live stuff. Last time I saw Livgren, Kansas was in Springfield in the 80's and he was wearing a long white gown/robe on stage. Eclectic as Kansas fashion goes but impressive sound at the least. Please give us a heads up if you are in the Springfield area. Thanks.....Don
  15. I've heard stories of flyfishermen leaving the area because of someone who did a little shooting up there. Is it legal? Don May
  16. Wow! You guys have done your homework. I'm almost embarassed to comment with my hillbilly vocabulary. Regardless, global warning by man or not, we must reduce emissions/pollution any way we can. It's just the right thing to do. Based on reports/data/credibility/validity of "experts" or other researchers, it's difficult for me to determine what percentage of global warming is man made versus natural cyclical global climate trends. I heard a rumor, please tell me if you have an idea, that if a major volcano erupted on earth, it could eradicate several years of man-made resolutions and successful efforts that have or will contribute(d) to the global warming trend. Don May
  17. Okay, It was blue and 15" by 3". It had 15 chartreuse wooly buggers in size 1 with white tungsten coneheads. It also had 15 other chartreuse woolies in size 2 with both white and yellow tungsten coneheads. By the way, just to distinguish these from all other boxes the same kind, these were all barbless hooks. Don
  18. My apologies guys, I have this sleep apnea/insomnia/political party dissonance illness that I'm fighting the best I can. Please understand my excruciating and tulmultuous situation that I'm in and forgive me for any future episodes. Thanks.....Don
  19. Way to go Muleball, You keep adding up those bigguns. At least you are not the only one that knows Leonard needs help now and then . Don
  20. Yeah, I've been wearing them for 3 years now. I like them for the bang for your buck. They are a good wicking layer. I've picked them up in late winter/early spring in the closeout section for $5 a piece. Don
  21. Brian, Are those the black polyester ones with the green Remington stitching on them? Don
  22. I was there at the time the storm hit hard. I spent 45 min in the parking lot waiting things out so i could not see the details on the water. On the other hand, I broke camp at the state park right before things got wild and it was warm and I worked up a sweat. On my way to the dam, I had to do all I could two separate times to keep my van on the road. It was rather tornadic since cold was displacing warm and a tornado later appeared in southern Missouri. On my way to the dam I saw two different whirlwinds that picked up a good bundle of leaves and spiraled them up to 30 feet or so. Don
  23. I can't speak for sure about other tailwaters, but Taney can provide a hatch 365 days a year. Don
  24. Here's a good article Bill Butts wrote on OAF about a year ago. http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?s...winter+clothing
  25. I tried this one twice and it was good both times. WORCESTERED TROUT IN BACON 1/3 cup worcestershire sauce 2 tablespoons onion powder 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 teaspons salt 3/4 teaspoons garlic powder 4 to 5 pounds trout fillets 9-10 strips of bacon Combine all ingredients except fish and bacon; mix well. Brush mixture inside and outside of fish if they are whole. Place fish in buttered baking pan. Score skin 2 or 3 places and strip with bacon. Place in preheated modrate oven (350 deg.F) 40-45 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. Baste often with pan juices when baking. Yields 6 portions.
