That pic wasn’t taken in Missouri, Wisconsin I believe, the details of why they shot so many in one go they didn’t share….could they be fibbing about the particulars, it’s possible…do I think every bfer shoots that many? Most assuredly not… if you think I’m bad these guys are hard core animal rights

Russian anglers hit the pothole for carp all the time…must be a cultural thing
-
I’m not the one claiming the numbers. This pic comes from a bfer group 1503 in one night, fish. Packed in because of spawning I am sure if allowed they could do the same with salmon didn’t they think we had plenty of salmon too? Concentrations of spawning fish make it Look like more populations

This is a Trip every fly fisherman owes themselves!

Are all BFers bad? Absolutely not,,,neither was all the remote control boat anglers that targeted the ginormous blue cats below Truman dam, most caught and released or selectively harvested. few caught and trafficed catfish for profit, selling fish in Kc

If you want to know the groups that support common carp protections are: eurostyle carp anglers, fly fisherman that target golden bones, paylakers who gamble on fishing, rough fish groups. other groups who oppose unregulated bfing redfish groups, catfish groups gar groups and bowfin groups a number of state fisheries biologists concerned about native fish populations primarily long lived, slow to maturity, buffalo and alligator gar and the impact removing common carp does to early food available to game fish like bass and walleyes. Also the effect hyper bright lights have on bird populations and non target fish during the spawn (walleyes, endangered suckers) Some lake property owners are fed up with noise, lights, outright property damage and stinking fish piles

It hard to justify blatant wanton waste…kill it eat it many rough fish are as good as crappie with CWD we are seeing upticks in dumped deer

Some in the bfer community want species equally allowed bass, catfish, trout, paddlefish are all legal in some states…Texas found the biggest fish were targeted more in their catfish experience and ended that.

In closing cutting the limit from 20 to 10 and enforce the no shooting and release rule move commons to the old rule yet encourage the harvest of the true Asian “carp” black carp rare now might become an issue in the future, considering they get over 6 feet long and several hundred pounds
-
The bulk of fish shot in our area are native buffalo and garfish, non native fish with a following in our state are common carp, Muskie, hybrid striper, striper and brown trout… commons were in the rivers long before and dams got built, bull shoals was stocked with Israeli carp in the early 60s by the state…by any metric they are naturalized. before the jumping Asian carp issue that started in the 90s, Missouri regulations were 20 fish in aggregate of rough fish including common carp… still is that limit sans the common carp it was lumped into the Asian carp pile…wrongfully in many opposing options

The recent bust in Oklahoma was for dumping over 1000 gar in the red river, it is well documented on the OWFD page, even have video of the men counting the fish

Crappie sushi this guy say no raw freshwater fish but makes some nice crappie sushi

In May, a video was shared with ODWC law enforcement of three bow fishermen dumping a thousand dead gar into the Red River. Recently, those men plead guilty to improper disposal of fish remains and paid nearly $3,000 in fines. One angler lost his fishing privileges for 6 months. Historically, gar and other native non-game fish were underappreciated but actually play an important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Thank you to the constituents who shared the video and to the diligent efforts of our game wardens investigating.

Tried it uni I think they call it, tastes like play dough with sauce on it

You don’t have to try them, yet you don’t know what you are missing. pound and one half sized drum are as good as any typical fish people eat here like any fish cut the gills and put them on ice, fillet and prepare them the way you like any fish

I think half the fun is making your own but the Branson area has a few sushi restaurants https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g44160-c38-Branson_Missouri.html

There are many types and styles of sushi, some do have raw fish, many do not…think of a rare cooked steak. The skills needed for the high end sushi restaurant show in the exorbitant prices! The way you put food in your mouth with chopsticks vs fork effects taste…this goes a long way in explains the different tastes of say the US vs Japan….foods that sell well here can bomb there. You can get passable sushi at sam’s club, many eateries off great rolls, Cassville has oriental House the roaring river and the Cassville rolls are outstanding, next time you go fishing at Royal River hit them up but they have weird hours…try out a good Japanese restaurant and try a few things. if you don’t like fish try beef sushi like this

Flatheads would be interesting 🤔 I wonder if walleye spawn/ egg sacks prepped this way would be good skip the sun drying and use the dehydrator after the salt cure
