  1. Rusty Crayfish
  2. White Amur or Grass Carp, I do know some have been shot out of Table Rock, though I have never heard of one caught on a hook out of any white river lakes
  3. bighead carp
  4. silver carp..the young can be confused with shad
  5. Common carp, as a note they do feed on zebra mussels, as do buffalo, drum, red ear sunfish
  6. Beaver has common carp ((Cyprinus carpio), the "asian carp" you mean big head (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis) and silver (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) "carp" as well as Grass Carp or White Amur (Ctenopharyngodon idella)....Commons are more from eastern Europe "Carpatian Mtns" and were stocked in the rivers in the 1880s and are naturalized long before the dams were built....Amur or grass carp are from Siberia's Amur river, usually stocked as weed control by some states, big head and silvers are escapes from fish farms that filter feed the algae in the ponds that they raise food fishes, the big floods in the 90's put them in the big river systems and their populations exploded, I do know that in the red river had a mass die off of bighead/silvers in the early 2000's like any overpopulation sooner or later Nature acts....rusty crawfish are a problem as well...

  9. wow this is interesting too.... "Environmental Impacts of Jet Skiing" http://www.solentskiers.org.uk/2014/09/04/environmental-impacts-jet-skiing/ "Jet Skiing...Very Powerful…..Very Fast…..And Very Dangerous & Deadly…." http://insiderexclusive.com/dangerous-sports-the-personal-watercraft-industry/#
  10. I found this interesting "According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's 2011 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife-Associated Recreation, more than 46 million licensed anglers generate over $48 billion in retail sales with a $115 billion impact on the nation’s economy creating employment for more than 828,000 people. The political clout is even greater when you consider at least 46 million anglers fished at some point over the past five-year period." http://asafishing.org/facts-figures/
  11. We all have had similar situations, unsure the best way to handle it nicely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I72jJ4wor_w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPtVWMv5EV0
  12. can tell you 4 foot chop by the dam is common, there is a reason it has sailboats, a SW wind gets funneled by the bluffs and even a 15 mph wind can make it rough 25+ can kill you....been on it in a hard blow and not kidding in 8 foot swells, 23 foot bass boat isn't enough boat at times, usually thats what keeps numbers off Stockton, scares the crap out people then they go to TR never to come back LOL...if you fish Stockton you learn to fish the wind..and you respect it
  13. some of those "gar' are muskie be careful....just saying
  14. MDC has said that the population of white suckers is really high in Taney, what could be done to reduce the populations? they can run large 2-6 pounds as adults..I have caught them in creeks fishing red worms on bottom in riffles....have not tried to eat them but have had canned suckers before cooked like a salmon patty good stuff! any fish that could eat them would eat Trout as well me thinks but 500k northern pike would clean up the issue (as well as trout),,,,Ideas?
  15. perhaps they would eat white suckers, I have read they are more of a fish eater than other trouts...
  16. I was always asked about Taney and Branson when in Canada.....they seemed to want to do an Ozark float trip too, LM Bass fish, and Trout fish Taney....funny how that works
  17. it would be way cool to see these stocked in Taney, I think they tried bowcutts back in the day..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_trout
  18. I have been to lake of the woods several times, and the Sabaskong Bay, NE area of the lake, and the fish ran way bigger than any place we ever fished even fly into lakes..huge pike, Smallmouth, Muskie, Walleyes...even Jumbo Yellow Perch and Slab Crappie... many of the old lodges have sadly gone out of business, we stayed at a Lequeese(sp?) tried to find it on google with no luck but you can drive to several camps in that area... Weird tips...fish bite bankers hours they didn't start till 8:30-9am and where done by 5..it never really gets dark so you might be tempted to fish 24-7...no need....leave the ultralight home spinning rods med action 8lbs light as you need...do bring fly gear top water poppers and big rabbit hair steamers will wear your arm out....quality casting gear 15-20# test.... shelled out a quantum reel on one trip...saw Moose deer bears lots of water fowl..if you want lakers or hybrid trout was a lake very close you could trailer to..was like 15 min away, I recommend a side trip to that one ask your resort owner......PS bring bug spray
  19. Then a "group" needs to grease the right wheels, its called campaign contributions, who does have the say? in other states speed limit zones has squashed out of control boat use...some even have days you can't do anything BUT fish or slot times. Missouri has ways to put things on ballots...I hate regulations, yet sometimes people are stupid and do stupid things that Foxtrot Uniform the fishing...as a carp fisherman they thought we couldn't get trophy fishery in Lady Bird lake ( formally Town Lake) in Austin, Texas yet now its "only one carp 33 inches or greater may be retained each day." I can tell you, if you do it right it can be done...If I was so inclined I would start with the economic impact with lost of fishing would do to the area. http://afs.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1577/1548-8659(1982)111<223%3ASVOTTF>2.0.CO%3B2 I think a study was done in the 80s on how much money was brought to the Branson area on a per trout basis....it would be good to get a scientific study/poll on anglers who would fish less here because of that, and calculate (allowing for adjusted for inflation) on the previous work and you would have leverage, perhaps from Missouri State University in Springfield? it would be a good Masters project.....
  20. Gatorjet do you sell them? or friends /buddies..with the people who build that tour boat? if it goes over I am sure we can look forward to a fleet of said craft on Taney...you are a bit hyper resistance to people not liking the idea of one boat running all over the lake...but who ever did build it, would have a huge vested interest in building say...3 or heaven forbid 10 more of the things...food for thought
  21. Yeah...right....I am sure Phil is highly insulted by his last name bottom line is most fisherman and lovers of the outdoors think this jet boat tour is not cool for fishing environments....not an attack on YOUR jet boating.....anyone ever had issues with skiers and PWC users at our area lakes??? I am safe to say most regular fisher people have...i That said many a fishing boat has pulled a tube or skiers. but I can tell you, if you want regulations slammed on a lake, just hack off home owners and fisher people who vote...I will tell you people stay on Taney over TR because of these kinds of things.. I never fished TR much in daylight once the water temps allowed more of that crowd on the water
  22. Memories built...long after you are gone your son will always have memories of that trip, more fathers should do these sorts of things with their kids...make life worth living...hats off to you!
