  1. if that was the case no-one would fish the trophy area....2 big trout has more meat that 4 dinks well said phil
  2. Me thinks this might be hot......
  3. yup bigger fish....could counteract that less part by dropping the limit to 2 fish
  4. might need to break it up from bass, walleye trout etc.....be interesting to do a tv show with the bigs KVD vs 5 others dry fly for trout......walleye fishing.......even carp angling....panfish jigging etc...be a great show
  5. go look at the ramp...I have waded floated every inch of the elk river drainage.......not many ramps that you can buzz even a jet in winter
  6. its understandable to cover water vs slowing down and being thorough...the latter being less work and what I think will land you bigger fish I agree there are some excellent fishermen that are on the forum interestingly many a buck has changed hands between fishermen...and golfers for that matter
  7. if that were true owning people would or could still be justified, wrong is wrong....just like property rights..you may own the land you bought...but that land was here before you and will be after you...and laws are and should be there to protect people from the destructive actions by wrong minded people good points..... but legally the state owns fish/wildlife and gives the privilege to take as they seem fit..its our political actions that drive regulations exactly...it becomes a political battle....on which user group wins regulations....each case can be pitched on its own merits....typically economic and sustainability a guide is hired because of knowledge and skill....you tip because you want to motivate said guide to exceed expectations.....is it ethical? depends....if I go to a water by myself and land a 20# brown its more of a pat on my back than if I hire a guide and through his skill land a 20# brown at least IMHO hence I'd chum with poultry pellets....just smarter.....cheeper too and IMHO more effective....corn use is banned in many trout areas
  8. more woops its a bass WATCH CLOSELY!
  9. I can't tell looks like a few bass got stabbed and shook off I now know why this streach of elk sux
  10. CC area, Aldridge.....back of mutton......37 highway bridge area.....
  11. I look at it this way ...if a state fisheries were an NFL team..you can be Cleveland or you can be New England so are we competitive relative to other states fisheries management?..... very much so.....Can we do better? ask yourself that HONESTLY...... we COULD have streams full of 3# smallmouths......we should aspire to do better if that means giving up fish stabbing...99% of the public would say it is, if it meant giving up a few fish dinners 80% of the public would say YES!
  12. <--changing hearts and minds one post at a time
  13. I agree however I see more wildlife today than in the 70's way more deer...turkeys were non-exsistant in the 70's....
  14. regulations man...regulations..wonder if they restrict gigging? As of April 1, 2017, new regulations for bass have been put into place for Lake Erie and its tributaries. While the rest of the state is under a catch-and-release-only restriction using artificial lures as of Dec. 1, bass anglers in this Great Lake can still keep one fish at least 20 inches long and even use live bait to do so. In case this regulation sounds familiar, it was the same wording for the special trophy season that was in place from the first Saturday in May through the Friday before the third Saturday in June. That trophy season has since been expanded to run from Dec. 1 through the Friday before the third Saturday in June. That means there are now just two seasons for bass in Lake Erie. http://buffalonews.com/2017/12/06/new-lake-erie-bass-rules-in-effect/
  15. heres a vid I found....I like the part at the end where they sit around the fire drinking & eating suckers....I guess it after a few adult beverages they go out to slam more fish I guess this is how woopses happen.....(q the deliverance music)
  16. tench...common in the UK some waters in the north east USA..they require water conditions much like smallmouth bass...more research is needed
  17. full spawning color brook trout Nipigon River.... however we have options in the ozarks, far from a sure thing though
  18. red breast some are supposed to be caught in some creeks around KC..however some really good places in the greater A tlanta area
  19. Blue Sucker .some get caught in feeder creeks into the Missouri river north of KC.
  20. Sacramento perch supposed to be common in some waters, endangered in others, more research is needed to locate my best bet
  21. Riogrande perch, this one is easy blew it when I lived in Texas and never tried for one...streams around Austin Texas
  22. Flyer.... this one is problematic, not common and hard to find areas, they have them in the bootheel...more research is needed to locate my best bet
  23. Shoal Bass...prob my best bet would be the Apalachicola River drainage, most likely a creek that drains into the river.
  24. I did...its easy when you owned your own ad agency google APC media.....
  25. yes Rod and reel people do poach but that can't take out every big bass from a winter hole in one hour! the old image of the drunk fishing with a forked stick for carp is a myth, most people that euro fish spend more $ for gear than you might expect...tipping the bottle too much makes it hard to earn $.....if you want to find those types..I can point you in the right direction before my hospital stay I spent over 300 days a year fishing..... we do agree on that and how many smallmouth have you killed? and how many big ones? stabbing is stabbing ether by gig bow or speargun
